To investigate the mechanism of rockburst prevention by spraying water onto the surrounding rocks,15 experiments are performed considering different water absorption levels on a single face.High-speed photography and acoustic emission(AE)system are used to monitor the rockburst process.The effect of water on sandstone rockburst and the prevention mechanism of water on sandstone rockburst are analyzed from the perspective of energy and failure mode.The results show that the higher the ab-sorption degree,the lower the intensity of the rockburst after absorbing water on single side of sand-stone.This is reflected in the fact that with the increase in the water absorption level,the ejection velocity of rockburst fragments is smaller,the depth of the rockburst pit is shallower,and the AE energy is smaller.Under the water absorption level of 100%,the magnitude of rockburst intensity changes from medium to slight.The prevention mechanism of water on sandstone rockburst is that water reduces the capacity of sandstone to store strain energy and accelerates the expansion of shear cracks,which is not conducive to the occurrence of plate cracking before rockburst,and destroys the conditions for rockburst incubation. 展开更多

Objective:To explore the preventive effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on arteriovenous fistula failure in patients in the hemodialysis room.Methods:82 patients with arteriovenous fistula in the hemodialysis chamber treated in our hospital from July 2022 to October 2023 were selected as the research subjects.The random number table method divided them into a control group and an experimental group of 41 cases each.The control group received general nursing intervention measures,while the experimental group underwent comprehensive nursing intervention.The incidence of complications(internal fistula failure,bleeding,thrombosis,infection),psychological emotions(SAS scale,SDS scale),quality of life(physical pain,physiological function,emotional function,social function),and nursing satisfaction(very satisfied,basically satisfied,satisfied,dissatisfied)were compared between the two groups of patients.Results:The incidence of complications in the experimental group(4,9.76%)was significantly lower than that in the control group(29,70.73%);the SAS scores and SDS scores of the patients in the experimental group after intervention were both lower than those in the control group;the quality of life score(physical pain,physiological function,emotional function,and social function)was all higher than those of the control group;the post-intervention nursing satisfaction of the experimental group(40,97.57%)was also significantly higher than that of the control group(29,73.17%);and the listed differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion:For patients with hemodialysis ventricular arteriovenous fistula failure,comprehensive nursing intervention can reduce the incidence of complications,relieve anxiety and stress,improve quality of life and nursing satisfaction,and achieve better preventive effects. 展开更多

Overweight or obesity has become a serious public health problem in the world, scientists are concentrating their efforts on exploring novel ways to treat obesity. Nowadays, the availabilities of bariatric surgery and pharmacotherapy have enhanced obesity treatment, but it should has support from diet, physical exercise and lifestyle modification, especially the functional food. Resistant starch, an indigestible starch, has been studied for years for its beneficial effects on regulating blood glucose level and lipid metabolism. The aim of this review is to summarize the effect of resistant starch on weight loss and the possible mechanisms. According to numerous previous studies it could be concluded that resistant starch can reduce fat accumulation, enhance insulin sensitivity, regulate blood glucose level and lipid metabolism. Recent investigations have focused on the possible associations between resistant starch and incretins as well as gut microbiota. Resistant starch seems to be a promising dietary fiber for the prevention or treatment of obesity and its related diseases. 展开更多

[Objectives]The paper was to identify the characteristics and the potency of new fungicides to rice blast disease,and study their preventive and therapeutic effects on the disease.[Methods]Six new and conventional fungicides with different mechanisms of action were selected to compare their preventive and therapeutic effects on rice seedling blast in greenhouse.[Results]The agents which showed to be highly efficacious in blast prevention(greater than 90%)were 25%pyraclostrobin EC,20%fenoxanil SC,75%tricyclazole WP and 50%prochloraz-manganese WP sprayed at the dosages of 112.5-150,180-360,270-450 and 450-600 g/ha,respectively.The therapeutic effect of new fungicides 25%pyraclostrobin EC and 50%prochloraz-manganese WP on rice blast were above 90%when the dosages were 90-150 and 360-600 g/ha,respectively.The therapeutic effect of the conventional fungicide 40%isoprothiolane EC on rice blast was 69.04%when the dosage was 480 g/ha,while those of other fungicides were worse.[Conclusions]Both 25%pyraclostrobin EC and 50%prochloraz-manganese WP have good preventive and therapeutic effects on rice blast,which will provide a reference for the use of these fungicides in the field. 展开更多

The paper was to explore the preventive effects of five drugs on mycoplasma pneumonia of swine (MPS) and to provide reference for clinical medication of pig farms in Hainan Province. A total of 444 health piglets were randomly divided into 6 groups, including five medication groups (72 piglets in group A, 74 pig- lets in group B, 72 piglets in group C, 76 piglets in group D, 76 piglets in group E) and one control group (74 piglets). The piglets in experimental groups were treated drugs once a day for successive 5 days at 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 of age. The piglets in control group were free of medication. At 70 and 140 days of age, 15 piglets of each group were randomly selected to collect their blood sermn. The Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M-Hyo) antibodies in serum were measured by en- zyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). During the experiment, the incidence rates of respiratory disease, lung lesion, feed conversion rate, average daily gain (ADG), and mortality rate of pigs were also observed and recorded. The results showed that the five drugs had significant difference in preventative effects. Group C (Zhiyuanjing group) received the best preventive effect and the highest economic benefits. Compared with control group, the ADG and feed conversion rate in group C were increased by 7.53% and 9.09%, respectively; the incidence rate of respiratory disease was reduced by 13.44% and lung lesion was alleviated by 81.43% ; and the earnings of each pig could rise by 132.70 yuan. The preventative effect and economic benefit of the drugs was sequenced by Chansu Kechuanling and Bingchan Kechuanwang. Wante Feilin and amoxicillin had weaker preventive effects against MPS but greatly influenced growth performance of pigs, so they should be used alternatively with other drugs. 展开更多

To investigate the effects of intravesical therapy with elemene in preventing postoperative recurrence of superficial bladder cancer and its toxic and side effects.Methods This series included 123 patients with superficial bladder cancer (T1),consisting of transitional cell carcinoma GⅠ in 37 cases,GⅡ in 73 and GⅢ in 13.They all underwent surgical treatment.Postoperatively,they were randomly assigned to 2 groups;63 patients in elemene group received instillation of elemene (400 mg,once a week) 2 weeks after operation and 60 patients in mitomycin C (MMC) group received instillation of MMC (40 mg,once a week) 2 weeks after operation.The instillations were repeated for 6 weeks and thereafter monthly for 1 year.The recurrence rates,side effects,and NK cell activity before and after treatment were evaluated.Results The recurrence rate of elemene group (mean follow-up of 19.7 months) was 7.9% (5 cases),which was significantly lower than that (25.0%,15 cases) of MMC group (mean follow-up of 19.4 months;P<0.05).The side effect in elemene group (3.2%,2 cases) was significantly milder than that in MMC group (25.0%,15 cases)(P<0.05).In elemene group,the NK cell activity after treatment (28±2)% was significantly higher than that before treatment(20±2)%(P<0.05).Conclusion Instillation of elemene after operation is effective and safe in preventing postoperative recurrence of bladder cancer.8 refs. 展开更多

The occurrence of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)was followed by a small burst of cases around the world;afterward,due to a series of emergency non-pharmaceutical interventions(NPIs),the increas-ing number of confirmed cases slowed down in many countries.However,the lifting of control measures by the government and the public’s loosening of precautionary behaviors led to a sudden increase in cases,arousing deep concern across the globe.arousing deep concern across the globe.This study evaluates the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in countries and territories worldwide from January 2020 to February 2021.According to the time-varying reproduction number(R(t))of each country or territory,the results show that almost half of the countries and territories in the world have never controlled the epidemic.Among the countries and territories that had once contained the occurrence,nearly half failed to maintain their prevention and control,causing the COVID-19 pandemic to rebound across the world—resulting in even higher waves in half of the rebounding countries or territories.This work also proposes and uses a time-varying country-level transmission risk score(CTRS),which takes into account both R(t)and daily new cases,to demonstrate country-level or territory-level transmission potential and trends.Time-varying hierarchical clustering of time-varying CTRS values was used to successfully reveal the countries and territories that contributed to the recent aggravation of the global pandemic in the last quarter of 2020 and the beginning of 2021,and to identify countries and territories with an increasing risk of COVID-19 transmission in the near future.Furthermore,a regression analysis indicated that the introduction and relaxation of NPIs,including workplace closure policies and stay-at-home requirements,appear to be associated with recent global transmission changes.In conclu-sion,a systematic evaluation of the global COVID-19 pandemic over the past year indicates that the world is now in an unexpected situation,with limited lessons learned.Summarizing the lessons learned could help in designing effective public responses for constraining future waves of COVID-19 worldwide. 展开更多

Repeated waves of influenza virus H7N9 epidemics after 2013 have caused severe influenza in humans,with mortality reaching approximately 40%–50%.To prevent possible pandemics,the development of highly effective vaccines against influenza virus H7N9 is highly desired.In the present study,by taking advantage of the D-tetra-peptide adjuvant(G^(D)F^(D)F^(D)Y),we reported a simple method to prepare H7N9 vaccines.Naproxen(Npx),with good anti inflammatory and broad anti-viral effects,was employed as an N-terminal capping group to construct a hydrogel precursor,Npx-G^(D)F^(D)F^(D)Y.The hydrogel adjuvant was prepared using a routine heating cooling protocol and the final vaccine was ready after mixing with the split A/Zhejiang/DTID-ZJU01/2013(H7N9)antigen by vortexing.Compared with the traditional Al(OH)_(3) adjuvant vaccine and the split vaccine,our hydrogel adjuvant vaccine showed the best preventive effects against H7N9 infection.A mechanistic study illustrated that higher antibody responses and variations in cytokine expression might account for its increased protective effects.Our strategy demonstrated the advantages of a peptide hydrogel adjuvant in the application of vaccines against H7N9 and demonstrated its potential application in vaccines against emerging threats from other viruses. 展开更多

The result of intravesical instillation with interleukin-2 (IL-2) for preventing the recurrence of bladder cancer and discussion of its mechanism was reported. 20 patients with histologically confirmed bladder transitional cell carcinoma were investigated. 2 000 u IL 2 was intravesically instillated every day for six days after resection of the neoplasm. The serum level of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) was significantly increased in 17 patients after IL-2 therapy. Recurrence occurred in 4 patients during the follow-up period of 10-18 months. The basic level of serum TNF was low and was not increased or even decreased after IL-2 in these patients. On the contrary, recurrence did not occur in another 5 patients with low basic level of TNF, but it was significantly increased after treatment of IL-2. TNF played a key role in preventing the recurrence of bladder cancer. Methods: Effect of RSM on SMMC 7721 cell membrane intercellular adhesive molecule 1 (ICAM 1) expression was observed by immunofluorescence flow cytometry; effect on invasive ability and of SMMC 7721 cell and the detachment of which attached to fibronectin (FN) by cell migration experiment; effect on adhesion of SMMC 7721 cell with FN by MTT method and effect on adhesion between 7721 7721, 7721 lymphocyte and 7721 endothelial cell by cell adhesion experiment. LCI D20 human liver cancer metastasis model, after hepatectomy, was used to observe the effect of RSM on recurrence and metastasis of liver carcinoma in nude mice. Results: ICAM 1 expression in SMMC 7721 cells incubated with RSM was significantly lower than that in cells did not treated with RSM. RSM could inhibit the invasive ability of SMMC 7721 cell and made the cells already attached to FN exfoliated. It could also inhibit the adhesion of 7721 7721, 7721 lymphocyte and 7721 endothelial cell. And RSM showed preventive and therapeutic effect on intrahepatic and remote metastasis/recurrence of early and late human post hepatectomy liver cancer in nude mice. Conclusion: RSM could inhibit the invasion and adhesion of SMMC 7721 cell and could also prevent and inhibit metastasis and recurrence of human liver cancer after hepatectomy in nude mice. 展开更多
