Many companies greatly rely on computers and software to provide accurate information to effectively manage their business processes. It is becoming increasingly necessary for all businesses to incorporate information technology solutions to operate successfully. One way for many corporations to adopt information technology (IT) on a large scale is by installing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to accomplish their business transactions and data-processing needs. ERP systems are software packages that enable the integration of business processes throughout an organization. This study aims to determine the effect of the ERP system on the cost of auditing period compared with traditional computerized (non-ERP) systems. According to cost analysis, the study also points out the changes in audit price. The methodology used in this research is survey-based data collection. The questionnaires are sent to auditors who are working with companies with ERP systems. The answers are processed and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 20. The data are performed using the statistical test to determine the effect of ERP usage on the cost of auditing process and pricing policy of auditors. The findings of this study are: (1) Companies with ERP systems are reducing their auditing costs; and (2) Auditing companies are not implying a low rate of price to their customers using ERP.展开更多

This paper, based on the effect factors of audit pricing, empirically analyzes the audit pricings of 2009's annual report of listed companies in "Three Boards" market with the result that the audit pricing of companies in main board market is significantly affected by size of the auditee, corporate governance, operating risk, and features of auditor etc.. The same result is showed among the companies in the small-and medium-sized board market which is exclusive of operating risk factor, while in GEM board market, the audit pricing is only affected by numbers of auditees' subsidiaries and ratio of independent directors etc..展开更多

We find that the concentration of the audit market and the probability of issuing modified audit opinions do not significantly change, but that audit fees increase significantly after the adoption of the new accounting standards in China. Deeper analysis suggests that(1) the implementation of the new IFRS-based Chinese Accounting Standards(CASs) has increased the market risk faced by listed firms and thus auditors' expected audit risk, causing an increase in audit fees,and(2) the degree of the increase in audit fees is positively related to the adjusted difference between net income according to the old CAS before2007 and the new CAS after 2007. We thus conclude that the reform has had a significant impact on audit pricing in China.展开更多
