Based on the analysis of the principal component, the paper forecasted the demands of power load with the method of the multivariate linear regression model prediction. Took the rural power grid load for example, the paper analyzed the impacts of different factors on power load, selected the forecast methods which were appropriate for using in this area, forecasted its 2014-2018 electricity load, and provided a reliable basis for grid planning. 展开更多

Popular descriptive multivariate statistical method currently employed is the principal component analyses (PCA) method. PCA is used to develop linear combinations that successively maximize the total variance of a sample where there is no known group structure. This study aimed at demonstrating the performance evaluation of pilot activated sludge treatment system by inoculating a strain of Pseudomonas capable of degrading malathion which was isolated by enrichment technique. An intensive analytical program was followed for evaluating the efficiency of biosimulator by maintaining the dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration at 4.0 mg/L. Analyses by high performance liquid chromatographic technique revealed that 90% of malathion removal was achieved within 29 h of treatment whereas COD got reduced considerably during the treatment process and mean removal efficiency was found to be 78%. The mean pH values increased gradually during the treatment process ranging from 7.36-8.54. Similarly the mean ammonia-nitrogen (NH3-N) values were found to be fluctuating between 19.425-28.488 mg/L, mean nitrite-nitrogen (NO3-N) ranging between 1.301- 2.940 mg/L and mean nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N) ranging between 0.0071-0.0711 mg/L. The study revealed that inoculation of bacterial culture under laboratory conditions could be used in bioremediation of environmental pollution caused by xenobiotics. The PCA analyses showed that pH, COD, organic load and total malathion concentration were highly correlated and emerged as the variables controlling the first component, whereas dissolved oxygen, NO3-N and NH3-N governed the second component. In order to improve reliability of the excavator's hydraulic system, a fault detection approach based on dynamic principal component analysis(PCA) was proposed. Dynamic PCA is an extension of PCA, which can effectively extract the dynamic relations among process variables. With this approach, normal samples were used as training data to develop a dynamic PCA model in the first step. Secondly, the dynamic PCA model decomposed the testing data into projections to the principal component subspace(PCS) and residual subspace(RS). Thirdly, T2 statistic and Q statistic performed as indexes of fault detection in PCS and RS, respectively. Several simulated faults were introduced to validate the approach. The results show that the dynamic PCA model developed is able to detect overall faults by using T2 statistic and Q statistic. By simulation analysis, the proposed approach achieves an accuracy of 95% for 20 test sample sets, which shows that the fault detection approach can be effectively applied to the excavator's hydraulic system. 展开更多

Screening similar historical fault-free candidate data would greatly affect the effectiveness of fault detection results based on principal component analysis(PCA).In order to find out the candidate data,this study compares unweighted and weighted similarity factors(SFs),which measure the similarity of the principal component subspace corresponding to the first k main components of two datasets.The fault detection employs the principal component subspace corresponding to the current measured data and the historical fault-free data.From the historical fault-free database,the load parameters are employed to locate the candidate data similar to the current operating data.Fault detection method for air conditioning systems is based on principal component.The results show that the weighted principal component SF can improve the effects of the fault-free detection and the fault detection.Compared with the unweighted SF,the average fault-free detection rate of the weighted SF is 17.33%higher than that of the unweighted,and the average fault detection rate is 7.51%higher than unweighted. 展开更多

Conventional multivariate statistical methods for process monitoring may not be suitable for dynamic processes since they usually rely on assumptions such as time invariance or uncorrelation. We are therefore motivated to propose a new monitoring method by compensating the principal component analysis with a weight approach.The proposed monitor consists of two tiers. The first tier uses the principal component analysis method to extract cross-correlation structure among process data, expressed by independent components. The second tier estimates auto-correlation structure among the extracted components as auto-regressive models. It is therefore named a dynamic weighted principal component analysis with hybrid correlation structure. The essential of the proposed method is to incorporate a weight approach into principal component analysis to construct two new subspaces, namely the important component subspace and the residual subspace, and two new statistics are defined to monitor them respectively. Through computing the weight values upon a new observation, the proposed method increases the weights along directions of components that have large estimation errors while reduces the influences of other directions. The rationale behind comes from the observations that the fault information is associated with online estimation errors of auto-regressive models. The proposed monitoring method is exemplified by the Tennessee Eastman process. The monitoring results show that the proposed method outperforms conventional principal component analysis, dynamic principal component analysis and dynamic latent variable. 展开更多

As crucial information, lane boundaries were detected based on principal component analysis of grayscale distribution in search bars of given number and then each search bar was tracked using Kalman filter between frames. The lane detection performance was evaluated and demonstrated in ways of receiver operating characteristic, dice similarity coefficient and real-time performance. For lane departure detection, a lane departure risk evaluation model based on lasting time and frequency was effectively executed on the ARM-based platform. Experimental results indicate that the algorithm generates satisfactory lane detection results under different traffic and lighting conditions, and the proposed warning mechanism sends effective warning signals, avoiding most false warning. 展开更多

This article presents an anomaly detection system based on principal component analysis (PCA) and support vector machine (SVM). The system first creates a profile defining a normal behavior by frequency-based scheme, and then compares the similarity of a current behavior with the created profile to decide whether the input instance is norreal or anomaly. In order to avoid overfitting and reduce the computational burden, normal behavior principal features are extracted by the PCA method. SVM is used to distinguish normal or anomaly for user behavior after training procedure has been completed by learning. In the experiments for performance evaluation the system achieved a correct detection rate equal to 92.2% and a false detection rate equal to 2.8%. 展开更多

To achieve the loading of the stress path of hard rock,the spherical discrete element model(DEM)and the new flexible membrane technology were utilized to realize the transient loading of three principal stresses with arbitrary magnitudes and orientations.Furthermore,based on the deep tunnel of China Jinping Underground Laboratory II(CJPL-II),the deformation and fracture evolution characteristics of deep hard rock induced by excavation stress path were analyzed,and the mechanisms of transient loading-unloading and stress rotation-induced fractures were revealed from a mesoscopic perspective.The results indicated that the stressestrain curve exhibits different trends and degrees of sudden changes when subjected to transient changes in principal stress,accompanied by sudden changes in strain rate.Stress rotation induces spatially directional deformation,resulting in fractures of different degrees and orientations,and increasing the degree of deformation anisotropy.The correlation between the degree of induced fracture and the unloading magnitude of minimum principal stress,as well as its initial level is significant and positive.The process of mechanical response during transient unloading exhibits clear nonlinearity and directivity.After transient unloading,both the minimum principal stress and minimum principal strain rate decrease sharply and then tend to stabilize.This occurs from the edge to the interior and from the direction of the minimum principal stress to the direction of the maximum principal stress on theε1-ε3 plane.Transient unloading will induce a tensile stress wave.The ability to induce fractures due to changes in principal stress magnitude,orientation and rotation paths gradually increases.The analysis indicates a positive correlation between the abrupt change amplitude of strain rate and the maximum unloading magnitude,which is determined by the magnitude and rotation of principal stress.A high tensile strain rate is more likely to induce fractures under low minimum principal stress. 展开更多

The clinical application of magnesium(Mg)and its alloys for bone fractures has been well supported by in vitro and in vivo trials.However,there were studies indicating negative effects of high dose Mg intake and sustained local release of Mg ions on bone metabolism or repair,which should not be ignored when developing Mg-based implants.Thus,it remains necessary to assess the biological effects of Mg implants in animal models relevant to clinical treatment modalities.The primary purpose of this study was to validate the beneficial effects of intramedullary Mg implants on the healing outcome of femoral fractures in a modified rat model.In addition,the mineralization parameters at multiple anatomical sites were evaluated,to investigate their association with healing outcome and potential clinical applications.Compared to the control group without Mg implantation,postoperative imaging at week 12 demonstrated better healing outcomes in the Mg group,with more stable unions in 3D analysis and high-mineralized bridging in 2D evaluation.The bone tissue mineral density(TMD)was higher in the Mg group at the non-operated femur and lumbar vertebra,while no differences between groups were identified regarding the bone tissue volume(TV),TMD and bone mineral content(BMC)in humerus.In the surgical femur,the Mg group presented higher TMD,but lower TV and BMC in the distal metaphyseal region,as well as reduced BMC at the osteotomy site.Principal component analysis(PCA)-based machine learning revealed that by selecting clinically relevant parameters,radiological markers could be constructed for differentiation of healing outcomes,with better performance than 2D scoring.The study provides insights and preclinical evidence for the rational investigation of bioactive materials,the identification of potential adverse effects,and the promotion of diagnostic capabilities for fracture healing. 展开更多

This paper studied the expert system of genotype discrimination for the STR locus D5S818 based on near-infrared spectroscopy-principal discriminant variate (PDV).Six genotypes,i.e.genotypes 10-10,10-11,11-11,11-12,11-13 and 13-13,were selected as research subjects.Based on the optimum polymerase chain reaction (PCR) conditions,about 54 measuring samples for each genotype were obtained;these samples were tested by near-infrared spectroscopy directly.With differences between homozygote genotypes and heterozygote ones,and differences of the total number of core repeat units between the six genotypes,two types of genotyping-tree structure were constructed and their respective PDV models were studied using the near-infrared spectra of the samples as recognition variables.Finally,based on the classification ability of these two genotyping-tree structures,an optimum expert system of genotype discrimination was built using the PDV models.The result demonstrated that the built expert system had good discriminability and robustness;without any preprocessing for PCR products,the six genotypes studied could be discriminated rapidly and correctly.It provided a methodological support for establishing an expert system of genotype discrimination for all genotypes of locus D5S818 and other STR loci. 展开更多

The bifurcation analysis of a simple electric power system involving two synchronous generators connected by a transmission network to an infinite-bus is carried out in this paper. In this system, the infinite-bus voltage are considered to maintain two fluctuations in the amplitude and phase angle. The case of 1:3 internal resonance between the two modes in the presence of parametric principal resonance is considered and examined. The method of multiple scales is used to obtain the bifurcation equations of this system. Then, by employing the singularity method, the transition sets determining different bifurcation patterns of the system are obtained and analyzed, which reveal the effects of the infinite-bus voltage amplitude and phase fluctuations on bifurcation patterns of this system. Finally, the bifurcation patterns are all examined by bifurcation diagrams. The results obtained in this paper will contribute to a better understanding of the complex nonlinear dynamic behaviors in a two-machine infinite-bus (TMIB) power system. 展开更多

Ore production is usually affected by multiple influencing inputs at open-pit mines.Nevertheless,the complex nonlinear relationships between these inputs and ore production remain unclear.This becomes even more challenging when training data(e.g.truck haulage information and weather conditions)are massive.In machine learning(ML)algorithms,deep neural network(DNN)is a superior method for processing nonlinear and massive data by adjusting the amount of neurons and hidden layers.This study adopted DNN to forecast ore production using truck haulage information and weather conditions at open-pit mines as training data.Before the prediction models were built,principal component analysis(PCA)was employed to reduce the data dimensionality and eliminate the multicollinearity among highly correlated input variables.To verify the superiority of DNN,three ANNs containing only one hidden layer and six traditional ML models were established as benchmark models.The DNN model with multiple hidden layers performed better than the ANN models with a single hidden layer.The DNN model outperformed the extensively applied benchmark models in predicting ore production.This can provide engineers and researchers with an accurate method to forecast ore production,which helps make sound budgetary decisions and mine planning at open-pit mines. 展开更多

We investigated the parametric optimization on incremental sheet forming of stainless steel using Grey Relational Analysis(GRA) coupled with Principal Component Analysis(PCA). AISI 316L stainless steel sheets were used to develop double wall angle pyramid with aid of tungsten carbide tool. GRA coupled with PCA was used to plan the experiment conditions. Control factors such as Tool Diameter(TD), Step Depth(SD), Bottom Wall Angle(BWA), Feed Rate(FR) and Spindle Speed(SS) on Top Wall Angle(TWA) and Top Wall Angle Surface Roughness(TWASR) have been studied. Wall angle increases with increasing tool diameter due to large contact area between tool and workpiece. As the step depth, feed rate and spindle speed increase,TWASR decreases with increasing tool diameter. As the step depth increasing, the hydrostatic stress is raised causing severe cracks in the deformed surface. Hence it was concluded that the proposed hybrid method was suitable for optimizing the factors and response. 展开更多

The failure modes of rock after roadway excavation are diverse and complex.A comprehensive investigation of the internal stress field and the rotation behavior of the stress axis in roadways is essential for elucidating the mechanism of roadway failure.This study aimed to examine the spatial relationship between roadways and stress fields.The law of stress axis rotation under three-dimensional(3D)stress has been extensively studied.A stress model of roadways in the spatial stress field was established,and the far-field stress state at different spatial positions of the roadways was analyzed.A mechanical model of roadways under a 3D stress state was established using far-field stress solutions as boundary conditions.The distribution of principal stressesσ1,σ2 andσ3 around the roadways and the variation of the stress principal axis were solved.It was found that the stability boundary of the stress principal axis exhibits hysteresis when compared with that of the principal stress magnitudes.A numerical analysis model for spatial roadways was established to validate the distribution of principal stress and the mechanism of principal axis rotation.Research has demonstrated that the stress axis undergoes varying degrees of spatial rotation in different orientations and radial depths.Based on the distribution of principal stress and the rotation law of the stress principal axis,the entire evolution mechanism of the two stress adjustments to form the final failure form after roadway excavation has been revealed.The on-site detection results also corroborate the findings presented in this paper.The results provide a basis for the analysis of the failure mechanism under a 3D stress state. 展开更多

Rock strength weakening subject to principal stress rotation:Experimental and numerical investigations

During the construction and operation of gas storage reservoirs,changes in the principal stress direction can induce fracture propagation under conditions of lower differential stress,potentially leading to failure in the surrounding rock.However,the weakening of strength due to pure stress rotation has not yet been investigated.Based on fracture mechanics,an enhanced Mohr-Coulomb strength criterion considering stress rotation is proposed and verified with experimental and numerical simulations.The micro-damage state and the evolution of the rock under the pure stress-rotation condition are analyzed.The findings indicate that differential stress exceeding the crack initiation stress is a prerequisite for stress rotation to promote the development of rock damage.As the differential stress increases,stress rotation is more likely to induce rock damage,leading to a transition from brittle to plastic failure,characterized by wider fractures and a more complex fracture network.Overall,a negative exponential relationship exists between the stress rotation angle required for rock failure and the differential stress.The feasibility of applying the enhanced criterion to practical engineering is discussed using monitoring data obtained from a mine-by tunnel.This study introduces new concepts for understanding the damage evolution of the surrounding rock under complex stress paths and offers a new theoretical basis for predicting the damage of gas storage reservoirs. 展开更多

In order to carry out tensor analysis in a neighborhood of a reference surface,the principal-direction orthogonal basis accompanying with Lame s coefficients or general curvilinear coordinate systems are widely used.A novel kind of field theory termed as the nonholonomic theory of the Principal-Direction Orthonormal Basis(PDOB)is presented systematically in the present paper,in which the formal Christoffel symbols are related directly to the principal and geodesic curvatures with respect to the principal directions of the surface.Furthermore,a systematic and simple way to determine the curvatures of the surface are presented with some examples.It provides a way to recognize qualitatively the bending property of a surface. 展开更多

Research on Feature Matching Optimization Algorithm for Automotive Panoramic Surround View System

In response to the challenges posed by insufficient real-time performance and suboptimal matching accuracy of traditional feature matching algorithms within automotive panoramic surround view systems,this paper has proposed a high-performance dimension reduction parallel matching algorithm that integrates Principal Component Analysis(PCA)and Dual-Heap Filtering(DHF).The algorithm employs PCA to map the feature points into the lower-dimensional space and employs the square of Euclidean distance for feature matching,which significantly reduces computational complexity.To ensure the accuracy of feature matching,the algorithm utilizes Dual-Heap Filtering to filter and refine matched point pairs.To further enhance matching speed and make optimal use of computational resources,the algorithm introduces a multi-core parallel matching strategy,greatly elevating the efficiency of feature matching.Compared to Scale-Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT)and Speeded Up Robust Features(SURF),the proposed algorithm reduces matching time by 77%to 80%and concurrently enhances matching accuracy by 5%to 15%.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithmexhibits outstanding real-time matching performance and accuracy,effectivelymeeting the feature-matching requirements of automotive panoramic surround view systems. 展开更多
