According to the schema theory, comprehending a text is an interactive process between the reader's prior knowledge(top-down processing) and the text(bottom-up processing). Both top-down and bottom-up processing are necessary for the inferring in reading comprehension. This paper explores how good and poor Chinese learners adopts top-down processing and bottom-up processing to make inferences in L2 reading, and finds some differences and similarities in using textual materials and background knowledge to make inferences in L2 reading by good and poor Chinese EFL learners respectively.展开更多

Human albumin(HA)is a very important blood product which requires strict quality controlstrategy.Acid precipitation is a key step which has a great effect on the quality of final product.Therefore,a new method based o...Human albumin(HA)is a very important blood product which requires strict quality controlstrategy.Acid precipitation is a key step which has a great effect on the quality of final product.Therefore,a new method based on quality by design(QbD)was proposed to investigate thefeasibility of realizing online quality control with the help of near infrared spectroscopy(NIRS)and chemometrics.The pH value is the critical process parameter(CPP)in acid precipitationprocess,which is used as the end-point indicator.Six batches,a total of 74 samples of acidprecipitation process,were simulated in our lab.Four batches were selected randomly as cali-bration set and remaining two batches as validation set.Then,the analysis based on materialinformation and three dfferent variable selection methods,including interval partial least squaresregression(iPLS),competitive adaptive reweighted sampling(CARS)and correlation coeficient(CC)were compared for eliminating irrelevant variables,Fimally,iPLS was used for variablesselection.The quantitative model was built up by partial least squares regression(PLSR).Thevalues of determination coeficients(R^(2)_(C) and R^(2)_(P)),root mean squares error of prediction(RMSEP),root mean squares error of calibration(RMSEC)and root mean squared error of crossvalidation(RMSECV)were 0.969,0.953,0.0496,0.0695 and 0.0826,respectively.The paired t test and repeatability test showed that the model had good prediction ability and stability.The results indicated that PLSR model could give accurate measurement of the pH value.展开更多
We use quantum electrodynamics particle-in-cell simulation to study the generation of dense electron–positron plasma and strongγ-ray bursts in counter-propagating laser beam interactions with two different solid tar...We use quantum electrodynamics particle-in-cell simulation to study the generation of dense electron–positron plasma and strongγ-ray bursts in counter-propagating laser beam interactions with two different solid targets,i.e.planar(type I)and convex(type II).We find that type II limits fast electron flow most effectively.while the photon density is increased by about an order of magnitude and energy by approx.10%–20%compared with those in type I target.γ-photon source with an ultrahigh peak brilliance of 2?×?1025 photons/s/mm2/mrad2/0.1%BW is generated by nonlinear Compton scattering process.Furthermore,use of type II target increases the positron density and energy by 3 times and 32%respectively,compared with those in type I target.In addition,the conversion efficiencies of total laser energy toγ-rays and positrons of type II are improved by 13.2%and 9.86%compared with type I.Such improvements in conversion efficiency and positron density are envisaged to have practical applications in experimental field.展开更多

This paper aims to analyze the convergence of provincial per capita GDP stability in Vietnam over the period of 1991-2007. This can be done by two approaches including bias data-based regression method for testing convergence and Markov chain model for describing features of long-term tendency of per capita income in Vietnam growth in provinces. The regression method results in the signs of convergence. To apply Markov process, we divide total pattern into 5 per capita income classes. We present the design and implementation of a instrument localization system that is based on information fusion strategies to enhance its recognition power. The system was implemented using RFID technology. It monitored the presence of surgical tools in the interventional site and the instrument tray and combined the measured information by applying redundant, complementary, and cooperative information fusion strategy to achieve a more comprehensive model of the current situation. An evaluation study was performed that showed a correct classification rate of 97% for the system.展开更多
