The study area indicates good potential for Cu-Au porphyry, epithermal gold deposits and hydrothermal alteration well developed in arid and semiarid climates, which makes this region significant for Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) image processing analysis. Given that achieving an acceptable mineral mapping requires knowing the alteration patterns, petrochemistry and petrogenesis of the igneous rocks while considering the effect of weathering, overprinting of supergene alteration, overprinting of hypogene alteration and host rock spectral mixing, SAM classification was implemented for argillic, sericitic, propylitic, alunitization, silicification and iron oxide zones of six previously known mineral deposits: Maherabad, a Cu-Au porphyry system; Sheikhabad, an upper part of Cu-Au porphyry system; Khoonik, an Intrusion related Au system; Barmazid, a low sulfidation epithermal system; Khopik, a Cu-Au porphyry system; and Hanish, an epithermal Au system. Thus, the investigation showed that although the whole alteration zones are affected by mixing, it is also possible to produce a favorable hydrothermal mineral map by such complementary data as petrology, petrochemistry and alteration patterns.展开更多

Meat processing plants are found to produce large amounts of wastewater due to the slaughtering process and cleaning of their facilities. Furthermore, the composition of the wastewater varies according to the type and number of animals slaughtered and the water requirements of the process. However, the slaughterhouse wastewater usually contains high levels of organics and nutrients. Several slaughterhouses in Ontario discharge their wastewater into the municipal sewer system after primary pretreatment at the meat processing plant. Therefore, due to the high-strength characteristics of the slaughterhouse effluents, an extensive treatment for a safe discharge into the environment is required. Thus, the combination of biological processes and advanced oxidation technologies for slaughterhouse wastewater treatment is evaluated in this study. Results show that the application of combined biological and advanced oxidation processes is recommended for on-site slaughterhouse wastewater treatment.展开更多

Therefore, the wastewater must be completely free from antibiotics before its release into the environment. In the present study, photocatalytic degradation was done to investigate the removal efficiency of Oxytetracycline Dihydrate (OTC) using ZnO, ZnO/3%BaTiO3 (3 BZ), ZnO/18%BaTiO3 (18 BZ), ZnO/ 33%BaTiO3 (33 BZ) and ZnO/48%BaTiO3 (48 BZ) under UV light. After the exposure time of 420 min, about 99.57% and 97.87% of OTC was degraded using ZnO and 3 BZ respectively. Further, increasing the amount of BaTiO3 in ZnO prolongs the degradation time. Therefore, faster efficiency was found using ZnO nanoparticles. The observed reaction rate constant using ZnO was 0.00933 min-1 which decreased to 0.00532 min-1 using 48 BZ, indicating the decrease of reaction rate for increasing the amount of BaTiO3. Hence, the use of ZnO photocatalyst is anticipated to be a promising technique for the photocatalytic degradation of contaminated wastewater with oxytetracycline antibiotics using UV light.展开更多

文摘Antibiotic resistant bacteria(ARB)with antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)can reduce or eliminate the effectiveness of antibiotics and thus threaten human health. The United Nations Environment Programme considers antibiotic resistance the first of six emerging issues of concern.Advanced oxidation processes(AOPs)that combine ultraviolet(UV)irradiation and chemical oxidation(primarily chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, and persulfate)have attracted increasing interest as advanced water and wastewater treatment technologies. These integrated technologies have been reported to significantly elevate the efficiencies of ARB inactivation and ARG degradation compared with direct UV irradiation or chemical oxidation alone due to the generation of multiple reactive species. In this study, the performance and underlying mechanisms of UV/chlorine,UV/hydrogen peroxide, and UV/persulfate processes for controlling ARB and ARGs were reviewed based on recent studies.Factors affecting the process-specific efficiency in controlling ARB and ARGs were discussed, including biotic factors, oxidant dose,UV fluence,pH,and water matrix properties. In addition, the cost-effectiveness of the UV-based AOPs was evaluated using the concept of electrical energy per order. The UV/chlorine process exhibited a higher efficiency with lower energy consumption than other UV-based AOPs in the wastewater matrix, indicating its potential for ARB inactivation and ARG degradation in wastewater treatment.Further studies are required to address the trade-off between toxic byproduct formation and the energy efficiency of the UV/chlorine process in real wastewater to facilitate its optimization and application in the control of ARB and ARGs.

文摘Spinning disk reactor(SDR)has emerged as a novel process intensification photocatalytic reactor, and it has higher mass transfer efficiency and photon utilization for the degradation of toxic organic pollutants by advanced oxidation processes(AOPs).In this study,ZnO—TiO_(2)nanocomposites were prepared by solgel method, and coated on the disk of SDR by impregnation-pull-drying-calcination method. The performance of catalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, photoluminescence and ultraviolet—visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy.Photocatalytic ozonation in SDR was used to remove phenol, and various factors on degradation effect were studied in detail. The results showed that the rate of degradation and mineralization reached 100%and 83.4%under UV light irradiation after 50 min, compared with photocatalysis and ozonation, the removal rate increased by 69.3%and 34.7%,and mineralization rate increased by 56.7%and 62.9%,which indicated that the coupling of photocatalysis and ozonation had a synergistic effect. The radical capture experiments demonstrated that the active species such as photogenerated holes(h^(+)),hydroxyl radicals(·OH),superoxide radical(·O_(2)-)were responsible for phenol degradation, and·OH played a leading role in the degradation process, while h+and·O_(2)^(-)played a non-leading role.

文摘The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) classification method for determining the optimum threshold (maximum spectral angle) to unveil the hydrothermal mineral assemblages related to mineral deposits. Thus, the investigation showed that although the whole alteration zones are affected by mixing, it is also possible to produce a favorable hydrothermal mineral map by such complementary data as petrology, petrochemistry and alteration patterns.
文摘Jungian Advanced Motor Processing (JAMP) is a mode of treatment developed in May of 2020 by Dr. Lahab Al-Samarrai during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Al-Samarrai had many students who reported increased anxiety, negative thoughts, fearful thoughts, and self-defeating thoughts. These students needed symptom relief more quickly than conventional talk therapy typically provides. Dr. Al-Samarrai developed a treatment modality incorporating light, bilateral audible beats, and positive affirmations. So far, more than 100 subjects have undergone JAMP, and this paper is a case study of one such subject. The research currently being compiled on JAMP, the subject of a future paper, to date shows positive improvement after receiving 5 - 6 sessions, and demonstrated decreases in both somatic symptoms and post-traumatic symptoms ranging from 45 - 55 percent. This paper will share the following: 1) Description of the underlying theoretical components supporting the treatment;2) Description of the treatment;3) Discussion of the case of Grace and her experience with JAMP.

文摘The characteristics of the slaughterhouse effluents and current wastewater treatment practices in the province of Ontario, Canada are analyzed. Results show that the application of combined biological and advanced oxidation processes is recommended for on-site slaughterhouse wastewater treatment.

文摘TiO_(2)has demonstrated outstanding performance in electrochemical advanced oxidation processes(EAOPs)due to its structural stability and high oxygen overpotential. However, there is still much room for improving its electrochemical activity.Herein, narrow bandgap manganese oxide(MnO_(x))was composited with TiO_(2)nanotube arrays(TiO_(2)NTAs)that in-situ oxidized on porous Ti sponge, forming the MnO_(x)-TiO_(2)NTAs anode.XANES and XPS analysis further proved that the composition of MnO_(x)is Mn2O3.Electrochemical characterizations revealed that increasing the composited concentration of MnO_(x)can improve the conductivity and reduce oxygen evolution potential so as to improve the electrochemical activity of the composited MnO_(x)-TiO_(2)NTAs anode.Meanwhile, the optimal degradation rate of benzoic acid(BA)was achieved using MnO_(x)-TiO_(2)NTAs with a MnO_(x)concentration of 0.1 mmol L^(-1),and the role of MnO_(x)was proposed based on DFT calculation.Additionally, the required electrical energy(EE/O)to destroy BA was optimized by varying the composited concentration of MnO_(x)and the degradation voltage. These quantitative results are of great significance for the design and application of high-performance materials for EAOPs.
文摘Organic dye pollutants present in wastewater pose a significant global challenge.Among pollutants, the synthetic dye Rhodamine B(RB)stands out due to its non-biodegradable nature and associated neurotoxic, carcinogenic, and respiratory irritant properties.Extensive research has been conducted on the efficacy of adsorption and photodegradation techniques for the removal of RB from wastewater. While adsorption and advanced oxidation processes(AOPs)have gained considerable attention for their effectiveness in recent years, the underlying behaviors and mechanisms of these technologies remain incompletely understood. Therefore,a comprehensive of recent research progress in this domain is imperative to clarify the basics and present the up-to-date achievements. This review provides an in-depth exploration of the fundamentals, advancements, and future trajectories of RB wastewater treatment technologies, mainly encompassing adsorption and photodegradation. This work starts with a general introduction of outlining the sources, toxicity, and diverse applicable removal strategies.Subsequently,it thoroughly examines crucial techniques within non-photochemical,photochemical,and adsorption technologies, such as UV light assisted AOP,catalyst assisted AOP,ozonation,Fenton system, electrochemical AOP,and adsorption technology. The primary objective is to furnish a broad overview of these techniques, elucidating their effectiveness, limitations, and applicability.Following this, the review encapsulates state-of-theart computational simulations pertaining to RB adsorption and interactions with clays and other adsorbents.Lastly,it delves into column adsorption of RB dye,and elucidates various influencing factors, including bed height, feed concentration, pollutant(RB)feeding or flow rate, and column regeneration. This panoramic review aims to provide valuable insights into suitable techniques, research gaps, and the applicability of nonphotochemical, photochemical, and adsorption technologies in the treatment of wastewater containing RB dye.
文摘Traditional wastewater mostly contains pharmaceutical ingredients. Hence, the use of ZnO photocatalyst is anticipated to be a promising technique for the photocatalytic degradation of contaminated wastewater with oxytetracycline antibiotics using UV light.
