A Retrospective Cohort Mortality Study in Jinchang,the Largest Nickel Production Enterprise in China

Nickel is an essential trace metal used in the occupational setting, resulting in both occupational and nonoccupational exposures to individuals at varying levels. Exposure to nickel has been associated with several toxicities and the International Agency for Research on Cancer has concluded that there is sufficient evidence in humans associating exposure to nickel compounds with risk of lung cancer and sinonasal cancer. This study confirmed a significant excess of mortality from diseases of the lung including silicosis, lung cancer, and cor pulmonale among workers involved in nickel mining or smelting in China.

A Model Comparison Study of Fragment Production in 140 A MeV 58,64Ni+9Be Reactions

The cross sections of fragments produced in the 140 A MeV58,64Ni＋9 Be projectile fragmentation reactions are calculated by using the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics （AMD） model, the modified statistical abrasion- ablation （SAA） model, and the empirical EPAX2/EPAX3 formulae. The Gogny-gO interaction is taken as the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction in the AMD calculation, and the decays of fragments obtained from the AMD results are calculated by using the GEMINI code. The calculated cross sections of fragments are compared.

Study on Sonneratia apetala productivity in restored forests in Leizhou Peninsula, China

The exotic Sonneratia apetala in Leizhou Peninsula, has shown outstanding fast-growing ability in restored mangrove forests, at the middle and high tide intertidal zone, with year-round fresh water input from drainage. By setting plot and selecting standard tree, investigation and measurement on height growth, diameter growth, biomass, productivity, and so on, were made in a S. apetala plantation at age of six at Lanbei, Fucheng, Leizhou Peninsula in May 2001. The investigating results showed that the mean annual height growth of plantation was 2.03 m and mean annual growth of diameter at breast height (DBH) was 2.35 cm. There exists a significant correlation between the diameter at ground surface (DGS) and DBH. The average biomass of a single standard tree in dry weight was 95.647 kg/m2. A ratio of above-ground biomass to under-ground biomass was 1.60. The stand biomass of unit area was 22.955 kg/m2, singletree wood volume was 88.23 dm3, and the annual wood volume productivity (PA) of the same year was 0.407. The forest energy accumulation was 424.851 MJ/m2, with annual solar energy fixing rate of 40.68 ×10-7%. It is concluded that S. apetala species had characteristics of outstanding high biomass accumulation and could be used as coastal planting tree species in southern China.

The study of productivity in the Bohai Sea-Ⅱ. Primary productivity and estimation of potential fish catch

-On the basis of the data obtained from the surveys in the Bohai Sea during 1982-1983, this paper analysed and discussed the distribution and seasonal variation of primary productivity in the Bohai Sea, and the correlations between the primary productivity and environmental factors. The organic carbon production and prospect of fishery production in the waters of this sea are estimated. It is shown that, there exists production patential in the Bohai Sea, the primary production is 112 gC/ (m2 ?a)the production of organic carbon being 10 million ton per year, the fishery yields 1 million ton and the maximum catch of sea products 0. 5 million ton. The results of the investigation can serve as the basic data for the exploitation, utilization and management of the fishery resources in the Bohai Sea.

Studying Cu Alloy Corrosion Products in Cooling Liquid

The effect of cooling liquid used for heat exchangers on the Cu alloy corrosion products has been examined using potential-time measurements under applied current condition (anodizing), potentiodynamic polarization, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy (IR) The corrosion products formed on the Cu alloy surface during anodizing, are Cu2O, Cu2(OH)3Cl, and Cu2S. NaCl is detected in the corrosion products. The film formation depends on the applied current and the shift of potential to nobler direction indicates its formation progress.

Anderson's Cognitive Theory and Learning Strategy Studies in Second Language Acquisition

Second language acquisition can not be understood without addressing the interaction between language and cognition. Cognitive theory can extend to describe learning strategies as complex cognitive skills. Theoretical developments in Anderson’s production systems cover a broader range of behavior than other theories, including comprehension and production of oral and written texts as well as comprehension, problem solving, and verbal learning.Thus Anderson’s cognitive theory can be served as a rationale for learning strategy studies in second language acquisition.

Establishment of inherent stability of pramipexole and development of validated stability indicating LC-UV and LC-MS method

Pramipexole belongs to a class of nonergot dopamine agonist recently approved for the treatment of early and advanced Parkinson＇s disease.A validated specific stability indicating reversed-phase liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the quantitative determination of pramipexole in bulk as well as in pharmaceutical dosage forms in the presence of degradation products.Forced degradation studies were performed by exposition of drug to hydrolytic（acidic and basic）,oxidative and photolytic stress conditions,as defined under ICH guideline Q1A（R2）.Significant degradation was observed under hydrolytic,oxidative and photolytic conditions and the degradation products formed were identified by LC-MS.

Study on the Consistency between Production or CostFunction and Index Number

This paper introduces some index concepts used in the study of economical theoryand summarizes some conclusions on the consistency between linear homogeneous production (or cost)function and index formula. In the last section , the authors show the consistency between nonlinearhomogeneous production and index formula and fill the gap in this field.

A study on sound production acoustics in the black cicada(C.atrata Fabricius)

The long rib of the sounding membrane in the black cicada is an analog to the beam clamped at one end. The fundamental frequency of activation sound is between 3900-5500 Hz and is basically consistent with the possible range of the main peak frequency ( MPF) of song in the black cicada. The operculum (Op), tymbal cover (TC) and joint membrane (JM)are respectively analogous to a unifor square plate clamped at one edge and free at the others, to another plate at two opposite sides and free at the other, and to a rectangular membrane clamped at four sides. The fundamental frequencies of activated vibration are basically consistent with theMPFs and main high frequency components of vibrations of the Op, TC and JM, respectively.The resonant cavity and spiracles on both sides are analogous to a current resonace circuit and to a resistance connected in parallel at the output ends, and the resonant frequency and quality factor of the circuit are in good agreement with the MPF and its tuning sharpness of son the black cicada.
