Acoustic propagation problems in the sheared mean flow are numerically investigated using different acoustic propagation equations , including linearized Euler equations ( LEE ) and acoustic perturbation equations ( APE ) .The resulted acoustic pressure is compared for the cases of uniform mean flow and sheared mean flow using both APE and LEE.Numerical results show that interactions between acoustics and mean flow should be properly considered to better understand noise propagation problems , and the suitable option of the different acoustic equations is indicated by the present comparisons. Moreover , the ability of APE to predict acoustic propagation is validated.APE can replace LEE when the 3-D flow-induced noise problem is solved , thus computational cost can decrease. 展开更多

We establish a patchy saturation model and derive the seismic wave equations for patchy saturated porous media on the basis of Biot's equations and Johnson's bulk modulus. We solve the equations, obtain the attenuation coefficients, and analyze the characteristics of wave attenuation in the seismic frequency range. The results suggest that seismic waves show attenuation and dispersion in partially saturated rocks in the low frequency range. With frequency increasing, attenuation increases. The attenuation of P-waves of the second kind is more pronounced in agreement with Biot's theory. We also study the effect of porosity, saturation, and inner sphere radius on the attenuation of the P-waves of the first kind and find that attenuation increases with increasing frequency and porosity, and decreases with increasing frequency and degree of saturation. As for the inner sphere radius, wave attenuation is initially increasing with increasing frequency and inner sphere radius less than half the outer radius. Subsequently, wave attenuation decreases with increasing frequency and inner sphere radius is higher than half the outer sphere radius. 展开更多

A three-dimensional(3D) parabolic equation(PE) model for sound propagation in a seismo-acoustic waveguide is developed in Cartesian coordinates, with x, y, and z representing the marching direction, the longitudinal direction, and the depth direction, respectively. Two sets of 3D PEs for horizontally homogenous media are derived by rewriting the 3D elastic motion equations and simultaneously choosing proper dependent variables. The numerical scheme is for now restricted to the y-independent bathymetry. Accuracy of the numerical scheme is validated, and its azimuthal limitation is analyzed. In addition, effects of horizontal refraction in a wedge-shaped waveguide and another waveguide with a polyline bottom are illustrated. Great efforts should be made in future to provide this model with the ability to handle arbitrarily irregular fluid-elastic interfaces. 展开更多

The estimation of lower atmospheric refractivity from radar sea clutter(RFC) is a complicated nonlinear optimization problem. This paper deals with the RFC problem in a Bayesian framework. It uses the unbiased Markov Chain Monte Carlo(MCMC) sampling technique, which can provide accurate posterior probability distributions of the estimated refractivity parameters by using an electromagnetic split-step fast Fourier transform terrain parabolic equation propagation model within a Bayesian inversion framework. In contrast to the global optimization algorithm, the Bayesian-MCMC can obtain not only the approximate solutions, but also the probability distributions of the solutions, that is,uncertainty analyses of solutions. The Bayesian-MCMC algorithm is implemented on the simulation radar sea-clutter data and the real radar seaclutter data.Reference data are assumed to be simulation data and refractivity profiles are obtained using a helicopter. The inversion algorithm is assessed(i) by comparing the estimated refractivity profiles from the assumed simulation and the helicopter sounding data;(ii) the one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) posterior probability distribution of solutions. 展开更多

A type of 3 node triangular element is constructed by the Quasi-conforming method, which may be used to solve the equation of a type of inverse problem of wave propagation after Laplace transformation △u-A^2u=0. The strains in the element are approximated by an expohential function and the string-net function between neigh- bouring elements is apporoximated by one dimensional general solution of the equation. Furthermore the strain field satisfies the equation, and therefore in the derivation of the element formulation, no shape function is needed. In this sense, it is a kind of hybrid element. Compared with the ordinary linear triangular element, the new one features higher precision with coarse meshes. Some numerical tests are presented. 展开更多
