These systems " catch" or repel the failure of the window or in-fill wall pro-tecting life and property from ballistic shards or fragments. They can be designed to be stand-alone in new construction and structural retrofits or used to augment structural hardening tech-niques. Cables, fabrics, and thin gauge sheet steel are examples of catcher systems used in the past. A new and evolving category of catcher systems are based on polymeric materials that can be used for both wall and window upgrades. These products are a proven blast mitigation concept and K&C Protective Technologies Pte Ltd (KCPT) together with Sherwin-Williams(SW) use KCPT′s blast engineering capacity and SW′s material engineering principles to create engineered systems for even greater in-use performance.展开更多

Although oxidation reactions are crucial for life,they can also be damaging to cells and tissues,causing variety of chronic ailments like,aging,cancer,autoimmune problems,cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disorders...Although oxidation reactions are crucial for life,they can also be damaging to cells and tissues,causing variety of chronic ailments like,aging,cancer,autoimmune problems,cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disorders etc.Redox protective systems are present in body for general immunization against free radicals,which can be supported by antioxidants that we take in our daily diet.Natural antioxidants such as flavonoids,hydrolysable tannins,coumarins,xanthones,phenolics,terpenoids,ascorbic acid,carotenoids and proanthocyanins are found in various plant products,including fruits,leaves,seeds oils,and juices.This review gives a brief account of research reports on fruits and vegetables which provide free radical scavenging compounds to the body.展开更多
Actively cooled thermal protection system has great influence on the engine of a hypersonic vehicle, and it is significant to obtain the thermal and stress distribution in the system. So an analytic estimation and num...Actively cooled thermal protection system has great influence on the engine of a hypersonic vehicle, and it is significant to obtain the thermal and stress distribution in the system. So an analytic estimation and numerical modeling are performed in this paper to investigate the behavior of an actively cooled thermal protection system. The analytic estimation is based on the electric analogy method and finite element analysis（FEA） is applied to the numerical simulation. Temperature and stress distributions are obtained for the actively cooled channel walls with three kinds of nickel alloys with or with no thermal barrier coating（TBC）. The temperature of the channel wall with coating has no obvious difference from the one with no coating, but the stress with coating on the channel wall is much smaller than that with no coating. Inconel X-750 has the best characteristics among the three Ni-based materials due to its higher thermal conductivity, lower elasticity module and greater allowable stress. Analytic estimation and numerical modeling results are compared with each other and a reasonable agreement is obtained.展开更多
