Let the Invisible be Visible and the Unheard be Heard--Public Art and Social Action

Through public arts and my artistic practice to explore how art practice actively contributes to raising civic awareness around issues of social concern in contemporary China.I argue for their contribution to the field of public sculpture in China.The case studies will unpack the research process and highlight the aspects of the work that challenge conventions in public sculpture in China.They will also draw out the impact of the work with audiences,particularly how media engagement has extended the discourse around the sculptures,disseminating that art can be a powerful vehicle to communicate and interact with the public on subjects that are difficult and complex in China.My aim,is at a minimum,to raise social awareness and spark debate in as wide an audience as possible.Ideally I would want to see the artworks impact on social change and contribute meaningfully to creating a respectful society.

The Development of Public art and City

Public art may promote the image and inner culture of the city, build and accumulate the gentle pulse of history and the cultural atmosphere, make public environment serve the people better, meet modern demand more to whom spirit enjoy. How are the whole development, cultural inside information, living standard of a city, can be embodied through the state of development of observing its public art at first, public art and development of the city complement each other.

Spiritual Language of Public Art in Architectural Form

To interpret spiritual language of architectural public art, architectural form was analyzed. Visual art space is based on spatial vision, artistic forms of point, line, surface and body are major visual elements of spatial form. Visual elements can be demonstrated in various forms, and even more diversified in the context of spatial design, interact with each other according to the form principle of beauty, and construct artistic forms of the space. Manifestation of the nature of public art also relies on visual elements, and the public aesthetic experience and feelings about architectural public art are expressed by visual elements.

Color Expression of Architectural Emotion Language from the Perspective of Public Art

Against the background of "architecturalization" of public art, the significance of architectural color design lies not only in the visual element of architectural environment, but also in the emotion expression of city culture and spirit of the time. Architectural colors should be constructed from the 6 aspects, namely, conveying city spirit, coordinating the environment, showing regional characteristics, reflecting public concept, obtaining public sympathy, combining cultural connotations of color and functions of space. Moreover, the impact of regional culture on architectural color should be properly handled, the emotions of architecture for the city reflected on the surface of architecture, which can reverse the convergence of city images to some extent, and promote the diversity of regional humanistic architectural landscapes.

Adjustment and Optimization of Public Art to the Folk Psychology

Public art has practical significance by showing a variety of forms to explore the various design factors on the psychological reactions of different people. Public art should fit the characteristics of human physiology and psychology. The mental aberration phenomenon induced by unhealthy circumstance could be adjusted and compensated by certain style of public art, and from which the optimization of psychological ecology is resulted. A variety of psychological ecology environment, such as gestalt, artistic exaggeration, implicit, pleasure, interesting, relax, mystery, intricacy, metaphor, and so on, could be constructed by different methods in public art. The excellent public art design optimizes the person's mental spiritual ecology, reduces the burden on people's lives and enhances the quality of life by using the meaningful forms and combinations to achieve the living environment and people's coordination.

Material Expression of Architectural Emotion From the Perspective of Public Art

Architectural emotion, to a large extent, is reflected in the emotionalization of building materials. The exploration of the vitality and spiritual connotation of the building materials is a new direction of expressing architectural feelings. This paper explores the visual features and connotation of various building materials from the perspective of public art, with a view to understanding the characteristics of building materials and creating unique buildings with a strong character.

This article researches on relevance between public art construction and city image shaping, according to general situation of public art construction in Nantong city, and discusses the influence of them. The aim of this article is to promote the shaping of city image more effectively.
