Using traditional regression approach in data analysis, i.e., ignoring hierarchical structure, either at micro (individual) or at macro (community) level will be avoiding desired assumption related to independence of records. Accordingly, this may result into distortion in the results due to probable underestimation of standard error of the regression coefficients. To be more specific, an irrelevant co-variate may emerge as an important covariate leading to inappropriate public health implications. To overcome this problem, the objective of the present work was to deal with multilevel analysis of the data on infant mortality available under second round of National family Health Survey and notify changes in results under traditional regression analysis that ignores hierarchical structure of data. This method provides more accurate results leading to meaningful public health implications. In addition, estimation of variability at different levels and their covariance are also obtained. The results indicate that the community (e.g., state) level characteristics still have major role regarding infant mortality in India. Further, if computational facilities are available, multilevel analysis may be preferred in dealing with data involving hierarchical structure leading to accurate results having meaningful public health implications.展开更多

Thus, it remains difficult to accurately describe the public-opinion propagation rules of social networks. In order to study the rules of public opinion spread on dynamic social networks, by analyzing the activity of social-network users and the regulatory role of relevant departments in the spread of public opinion, concepts of additional user and offline rates are introduced, and the direct immune-susceptible, contacted, infected, and refractory (DI-SCIR) public-opinion propagation model based on real-time online users is established. The interventional force of relevant departments, credibility of real information, and time of intervention are considered, and a public-opinion propagation control strategy based on direct immunity is proposed. The equilibrium point and the basic reproduction number of the model are theoretically analyzed to obtain boundary conditions for public-opinion propagation. Simulation results show that the new model can accurately reflect the propagation rules of public opinion. When the basic reproduction number is less than 1, public opinion will eventually disappear in the network. Social factors can significantly influence the time and scope of public opinion spread on social networks. By controlling social factors, relevant departments can analyze the rules of public opinion spread on social networks to suppress the propagate of negative public opinion and provide a powerful tool to ensure security and stability of society.展开更多

In the model, the risk communication behaviors are divided into two variables of the public opinion expression and information acquisition, and the subjective norm divided into the internal and external social networks. Then the questionnaire is designed so as to verify the proposed model and analyze their relationships. The survey data are analyzed using SMART PLS software. The validity analysis shows that the questionnaire has a high convergence and discriminant validity. In addition, the Cronbach'a coefficient of each item is more than 0. 70,which shows the questionnaire has a high credibility. Based on the statistical data analysis, relationships of the influence factors are obtained.Further, the influence path model of the public attitude, intention, self regulation and behavior control in the risk communication is established. According to the Bootstrap algorithm in SMART,the path coefficient and its explanation variance of each influence factor are obtained. The calculation results show that the explanation variance values are all bigger than 10% and the path is reliable.Based on the path model, the influence path and function relationships of the participation attitude, subjective norm and behavior control on the participation intention and behavior are obtained. This will provide theoretical and data supports for the risk management and strategy making of the public participation in nanotechnology risk communication.展开更多

STIs are one of the most critical health problems in the United States of America (USA). Here, we present a mathematical model for testing several interventions that are designed for various communities in order to control the Chlamydia epidemic. Study Design: Based on a community sexual behavior survey, we constructed and parameterized a mathematical disease transmission model to estimate the spread dynamics of Chlamydia in young adults in the northern part of Omaha, Nebraska. Methods: A differential equations based continuous time simulation model is run for various scenarios. The model considers only one age group i.e., 19 - 25 ages, which is considered as the highest risk group for this sexually transmitted disease. Our model assumes homogeneous mixing within this age group and use published estimates to model mixing rates between individuals. Results: The presented model quantified the potential value of screening and treatment programs for Chlamydia in reducing the burden of disease in this specific community. By increasing the screening and treatment rates from 35% to 85%, great public health benefit can be achieved in two years, i.e., total cases reduction around 9% just in this considered age group. Conclusions: Computational results show that behavioral change based interventions on prevention have some effect on reducing the prevalence in the targeted age group;however, more benefit can be obtained with frequent screening and treatment programs.展开更多

In the developing world, about 132 million people have lost one or both parents due to the AIDS pandemic and 25 million children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS in 2010. The HIV prevalence in Cameroon is estimated at 5.1%. As of 2010, there were 304,000 deaths due to AIDS in Cameroon. Out of 1,200,000 orphans and vulnerable children in Cameroon in 2010, 300,000 were AIDS orphans. The HIV/AIDS burden impacts child survival, growth and development in the traditional African setting. With so many orphans in the population, along with many vulnerable children, strategies must be developed to respond more effectively to their critical needs. This study provides a model for OVC care and support in Cameroon. The model was developed out of extensive work using a participatory approach involving traditional, administrative and health stakeholders on OVC in Yaounde I and Yaounde VI Councils, Nanga Eboko Health District, Isangelle, Ekondo Titi, and Bafaka-Balue communities in Cameroon. Consultancy services with PLAN Cameroon, the Pan African Institute for Development-West Africa coupled with facilitation of many training workshops on OVC with Save the orphans Foundation, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Public Health and working with the National AIDS Control Committee. The essential components of a holistic framework for the care of OVC have been identified. A public health model for the care of OVC and a mechanism for their identification and a referral system for testing OVC for HIV are proposed. Through this model, a mechanism for the effective holistic care of OVC and collaboration is enhanced.展开更多

[Method]The GM (1, 1) forecasting model was set up according to statistics of public green area per capita in Xi’an City during 1996 and 2005, on this basis, the development trend of green area per capita in Xi’an City until 2015 were analyzed in case of no any changing factors or conditions. [Result]Grey forecasting model was established as, (t = 0, 1, …, n); model parameters as a = - 0.031 71, u = 4.139 17. After residual error test and posterior-variance-test, the precision of this model is proved fairly good. [Conclusions]According to this model, public green area per capita in Xi’an City will achieve 7.66 m2 by 2015, which is still far away from the livable city index (16 m2 per capita) and should be paid more attention by the local government, the construction of urban green areas should be further enhanced, more vegetations should be cultivated so as to improve the urban green coverage ratio.展开更多

In this model, the passages between the first class gradient centers are transported by the fastest ways, and transferred in the mode of permeation between the second class gradient centers. this model will improvc the situation in the metropolitan communications.
文摘Objectives: Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) have a great public health impact globally. Conclusions: Computational results show that behavioral change based interventions on prevention have some effect on reducing the prevalence in the targeted age group;however, more benefit can be obtained with frequent screening and treatment programs.
文摘UNICEF, UNAIDS and USAID developed a global strategic framework to guide responses to care and protect orphans and other vulnerable children in the context of HIV/AIDS. Through this model, a mechanism for the effective holistic care of OVC and collaboration is enhanced.
文摘Public service platform of industrial cluster includes Industry Association, Guarantee Agency, Productivity Center, R&D Center, Inspection and Test Center, Training Institutions, Product Center and Professional Market, etc. By case study in Hubei province, local government and leading enterprises, they are the major part of public service platform constructing of industrial cluster.
文摘Everyone is surrounded by crisis just like the air we breathe at every moment;therefore, all countries, organizations and person are confronted with the risk challenges. Nowadays, the human society has evolved to a relatively advanced stage, and along with society progress, complicated social relationship and environment will result in more dangerous elements, thus bringing in more risks. This paper introduces the public security crisis management model based on diversified cooperation in detail from the concept of public security crisis and puts forward safeguard mechanism construction for enhancing the crisis management under diversified cooperation in a brief manner, thus improving the efficiency of crisis management under diversified cooperation.

文摘Forest habitats are critical for biodiversity, ecosystem services, human livelihoods, and well-being.Capacity to conduct theoretical and applied forest ecology research addressing direct(e.g.,deforestation)and indirect(e.g.,climate change)anthropogenic pressures has benefited considerably from new field-and statistical-techniques.We used machine learning and bibliometric structural topic modelling to identify 20 latent topics comprising four principal fields from a corpus of 16,952 forest ecology/forestry articles published in eight ecology and five forestry journals between 2010 and 2022.Articles published per year increased from 820 in 2010 to 2,354 in 2021,shifting toward more applied topics.Publications from China and some countries in North America and Europe dominated, with relatively fewer articles from some countries in West and Central Africa and West Asia, despite globally important forest resources. Most study sites were in some countries in North America,Central Asia, and South America, and Australia.Articles utilizing R statistical software predominated, increasing from 29.5%in 2010 to 71.4%in 2022.The most frequently used packages included lme4,vegan,nlme,MuMIn,ggplot2,car,MASS,mgcv,multcomp and raster.R was more often used in forest ecology than applied forestry articles.R software offers advantages in script and workflow-sharing compared to other statistical packages. Our findings demonstrate that the disciplines of forest ecology/forestry are expanding both in number and scope, aided by more sophisticated statistical tools,to tackle the challenges of redressing forest habitat loss and the socio-economic impacts of deforestation.
文摘Under the new technology environment, social problems and government governance problems tend to be more and more complex, which makes the mode of public issues entering the public policy agenda show diversified characteristics. The entry of an event on the official agenda will be promoted by the joint role of the government, the media and the public. In the process of promoting the establishment of the public policy agenda, the agenda setting mode of each policy subject will also have a hybrid effect, forming a joint force to promote the establishment of the formal agenda. The combination of public policy agenda models can promote the improvement of national political democracy, make public decision-making more scientific and conform to public opinion, accelerate the progress of the public agenda into the policy agenda, and improve the cycle efficiency of the public policy process.
文摘The outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)is of global health concern. It is a serious public health emergency for the entire world, threatening human life and public health security. To address the epidemic,it is necessary not only to take good prevention and treatment measures, but also to have effective and targeted public health emergency governance. That said, reports focusing on governance are scant. In this commentary,we summarize China’s model to combat the COVID-19 epidemic from a public health emergency governance approach.Stemmed from goals and values,a number of mechanisms are put forward, which include:a whole-ofgovernment response and accountability, setting up a multi-sectoral cooperation platform, swiftly scaling up epidemic emergency capacity,whole-of-society actions with engagement of social organizations, and engaging citizens in the epidemic prevention and control. As the epidemic continues to evolve, other countries might learn from China to build their own,context-specific models for better outcomes.
文摘[Objective] To establish the comprehensive evaluation index system of public green area per capita as a quantitative mean of measuring ecological city and livable city. [Conclusions]According to this model, public green area per capita in Xi’an City will achieve 7.66 m2 by 2015, which is still far away from the livable city index (16 m2 per capita) and should be paid more attention by the local government, the construction of urban green areas should be further enhanced, more vegetations should be cultivated so as to improve the urban green coverage ratio.
文摘The "Norwegian Model" attempts to comprehensively cover all the peer-reviewed scholarly literatures in all areas of research in one single weighted indicator. Thereby, scientific production is made comparable across departments and faculties within and between research institutions, and the indicator may serve institutional evaluation and funding. This article describes the motivation for creating the model in Norway, how it was designed, organized and implemented, as well as the effects and experiences with the model. The article ends with an overview of a new type of bibliometric studies that are based on the type of comprehensive national publication data that the Norwegian Model provides.
