PTZ cameras have found wide applications...This paper introduces an intelligent computational approach for extracting salient objects fromimages and estimatingtheir distance information with PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras. PTZ cameras have found wide applications innumerous public places, serving various purposes such as public securitymanagement, natural disastermonitoring,and crisis alarms, particularly with the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence and global infrastructuralprojects. In this paper, we combine Gauss optical principles with the PTZ camera’s capabilities of horizontal andpitch rotation, as well as optical zoom, to estimate the distance of the object.We present a novel monocular objectdistance estimation model based on the Focal Length-Target Pixel Size (FLTPS) relationship, achieving an accuracyrate of over 95% for objects within a 5 km range. The salient object extraction is achieved through a simplifiedconvolution kernel and the utilization of the object’s RGB features, which offer significantly faster computingspeeds compared to Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Additionally, we introduce the dark channel beforethe fog removal algorithm, resulting in a 20 dB increase in image definition, which significantly benefits distanceestimation. Our system offers the advantages of stability and low device load, making it an asset for public securityaffairs and providing a reference point for future developments in surveillance hardware.展开更多

Disease in affected pigs was characterized by burst, high fever, rapid epidemic spread. The mortality of SI with secondary or mixed infection could be increased. Moreover, more researches showed that the outbreaks of human influenza are associated with the outbreak of swine influenza, and there are a striking parallel nature and relevance. For the new adapted requirements of public security management, this paper puts forward the concept of the coordinated routine and emergency management, which combines the routine management at normal status and the emergency management at the abnormal status based on the whole process of public security management. This paper analyzes the coordinated management system and establishes the decision-making objectives, decision-making model and constraints. A research arena(WARA-PS)for sensing,data fusion,user interaction,planning and control of collaborative autonomous aerial and surface vehicles in public safety applications is presented.The objective is to demonstrate...A research arena(WARA-PS)for sensing,data fusion,user interaction,planning and control of collaborative autonomous aerial and surface vehicles in public safety applications is presented.The objective is to demonstrate scientific discoveries and to generate new directions for future research on autonomous systems for societal challenges.The enabler is a computational infrastructure with a core system architecture for industrial and academic collaboration.This includes a control and command system together with a framework for planning and executing tasks for unmanned surface vehicles and aerial vehicles.The motivating application for the demonstration is marine search and rescue operations.A state-of-art delegation framework for the mission planning together with three specific applications is also presented.The first one concerns model predictive control for cooperative rendezvous of autonomous unmanned aerial and surface vehicles.The second project is about learning to make safe real-time decisions under uncertainty for autonomous vehicles,and the third one is on robust terrain-aided navigation through sensor fusion and virtual reality tele-operation to support a GPS-free positioning system in marine environments.The research results have been experimentally evaluated and demonstrated to industry and public sector audiences at a marine test facility.It would be most difficult to do experiments on this large scale without the WARA-PS research arena.Furthermore,these demonstrator activities have resulted in effective research dissemination with high public visibility,business impact and new research collaborations between academia and industry.展开更多
The development of uranyl ion detection technology has exhibited its significance in public security and environmental fields for the radioactivity and chemical toxicity of uranyl ion.The WHO standard of uranyl ion ma...The development of uranyl ion detection technology has exhibited its significance in public security and environmental fields for the radioactivity and chemical toxicity of uranyl ion.The WHO standard of uranyl ion makes it necessary to develop highly sensitive uranyl rapid warning system in drinking water monitoring.Herein,a visualized rapid warning system for trace uranyl ion is carried out based on electrochemiluminescence(ECL) imaging technology to give an ultra-low limit of detection(LOD) and high selectivity.Amidoxime,a bi-functional group with both uranyl ion capturing and co-reactive functions,is modified on a conjugated polymer backbone with strong ECL signal to be prepared into three-in-one polymer nanoparticles(PNPs) with self-enhanced ECL property.The captured uranyl ion can enhance the ECL signal of PNPs via resonance energy transfer process to give the LOD as 0.5 ng/L,which is much lower than the known luminescent uranyl sensors.Furthermore,ECL imaging technology is introduced into realizing visualized uranyl rapid warning,and can be successfully applied on natural water samples.This study provides a novel strategy for uranyl rapid warning,and shows its potential meaning in public security and environmental fields.展开更多
