Present Assessment of Public Traffic System Based on GIS in Kitakyushu

With increasing of serious environment problems and the coming of the aging society, new traffic systems should be urgently rebuilt. It is necessary to evaluate the traffic service level by utilizing new technique and tool. This paper takes Kitakyushu city as case study to carry out an evaluation of urban traffic system. The concept of accessibility and mobility is used to evaluate the present condition of existing public traffic system based on GIS technology, and then establishment of new route is discussed according to the evaluation results. Additionally, this paper established GIS database and illustrated the relationship between the public traffic and population density. The regions without enough existing traffic were identified. Moreover, the essential terms and considerations were put forward to simulate a new route of public traffic line. 展开更多

A genetic algorithm (GA) and a hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA) were used for optimal scheduling of public vehicles based on their actual operational environments. The performance for three kinds of vehicular levels were compared using one-point and two-point crossover operations. The vehicle scheduling times are improved by the intelligent characteristics of the GA. The HGA, which integrates the genetic algorithm with a tabu search, further improves the convergence performance and the optimization by avoiding the premature convergence of the GA. The results show that intelligent scheduling of public vehicles based on the HGA overcomes the shortcomings of traditional scheduling methods. The vehicle operation management efficiency is improved by this essential technology for intelligent scheduling of public vehicles. 展开更多

Objective To investigate the potential impact of ambient air pollution on public health under various traffic policies in Shanghai. Methods The exposure level of Shanghai residents to air pollution under various planned traffic scenarios was estimated, and the public health impact was assessed using concentration-response functions derived from available epidemiological studies. Results Our results showed that ambient air pollution in relation to traffic scenarios had a significant impact on the future health status of Shanghai residents. Compared with the base case scenario, implementation of various traffic scenarios could prevent 759-1574, 1885-2420, and 2277-2650 PM10-related avoidable deaths (mean-value) in 2010, 2015, and 2020, respectively. It could also decrease the incidence of several relevant diseases. Conclusion Our findings emphasize the need to consider air pollution-related health effects as an important impact of traffic policy in Shanghai. 展开更多

Although the planning of the contemporary road network system is quite unique, it has not been considered to the contemporary transporting needs of the citizens of Macao. At the same time, the complexity of the road network makes zonings unobvious functional and mixes urban functions in the region. Therefore, through field surveys, the relevant data of the Macao Transport Bureau (DSAT) is combined to find out the current problems of the road traffic on the Macao Peninsula and analyze the strategy of optimizing the “public transport priority” public transportation prove system. This paper highlights the increasing problem of road traffic accident (RTA) related morbidity and mortality in Ghana, and the public health measures needed to control the problem. Descriptive data in the public domain from statutory bodies and media houses reports on country RTA information, as well as academic papers on the problem, were used as source of information about the problem. The observed trend in Ghana indicates that RTA related fatalities and injuries continue to be increasing, as morbidity and mortality factors since the year 2000. Most of the remedial measures suggested in academic papers, and state agencies measures to curb the RTA trend in Ghana to date, have discussed the problem in terms of injury and safety issues/measures. This paper suggests that the increasing RTAs with associated morbidity and mortality in Ghana need to be looked at more as a public health problem and priority that requires prompt tackling using a public health problem orientated approach and measures, than just as a safety problem due to RTAs’, as is currently done. 展开更多

中国网约车服务对道路交通事故的影响研究

为深入探究网约车服务是否直接影响道路交通事故,以及是否通过改变公交车和私家车的使用量而间接影响道路交通事故。基于2005—2017年我国114个城市的面板数据,采用多期双重差分法(DID)和逐步法,研究网约车服务对道路交通事故的影响机... 为深入探究网约车服务是否直接影响道路交通事故,以及是否通过改变公交车和私家车的使用量而间接影响道路交通事故。基于2005—2017年我国114个城市的面板数据,采用多期双重差分法(DID)和逐步法,研究网约车服务对道路交通事故的影响机制。结果表明:网约车服务进入城市导致道路交通事故增加5.6%,这一结论在进行平行趋势和倾向得分匹配(PSM)-DID等稳健性检验后仍然成立;网约车服务显著降低约19.3%公交使用量,从而间接增加0.71%道路交通事故,说明公交使用量发挥中介效应;网约车服务显著增加5%私家车使用量,从而间接增加0.14%道路交通事故,说明私家车使用量发挥中介效应。公交使用量的减少是网约车服务间接增加道路交通事故的重要原因。政府部门应当加强网约车服务的监管,同时,鼓励网约车服务与公共交通协同发展。 展开更多

为了探究疫情对长沙市居民公共交通出行的影响,针对长沙市2019—2021年公共汽电车、轨道交通、出租汽车三种交通方式客运量变化,采用问卷星、电话询问线上问卷对长沙市居民进行问卷调查,问卷内容主要从长沙市居民个人属性、出行属性、... 为了探究疫情对长沙市居民公共交通出行的影响,针对长沙市2019—2021年公共汽电车、轨道交通、出租汽车三种交通方式客运量变化,采用问卷星、电话询问线上问卷对长沙市居民进行问卷调查,问卷内容主要从长沙市居民个人属性、出行属性、疫情风险感知三方面进行获取,利用多元线性回归分析居民出行频次的影响因素,多分类Logistic回归模型分析影响因素对于居民倾向选择公共交通方式的影响程度。研究结果显示:处于中高风险地区、家庭拥有私家车数量越多、保护动机越高的居民越容易减少出行频次;年纪越大越倾向选择公共汽电车;保护动机越高、不需要去指定地点办公的居民越容易选择轨道交通出行。本研究有助于为当地交通管控部门制定相应的疫情防控措施提供依据。 展开更多

Bluetooth as a traffic sensor for stream travel time estimation under Bogazici Bosporus conditions in Turkey

Travel time estimation is an integral part of Intelligent Transportation Systems, and has been an important component in traffic management and operations for many years. Travel time, being spatial in nature, requires spatial sensors to measure it accurately. Bluetooth is emerging as a promising technology for the direct measurement of travel time, and is reported in a few studies from homogenous traffic conditions. At the same time, there have been no studies on the applicability of Bluetooth for travel time estimation in heterogeneous traffic seen in Istanbul and even that Turkey. Bluetooth data collected from a busy urban road in Istanbul city have been analyzed and the penetration rate was found to be about 5 %. Two wheelers and light motor vehicles have been detected using the Bluetooth sensor and the data have been extrapolated to estimate travel times of other classes of vehicles. The study developed linear relationships between speeds of different classes of vehicles through weighted linear regression methods and were used for the estimation of stream travel time. The results obtained were promising and show that Bluetooth is a cost-effective technology for estimation of travel time for heterogeneous traffic conditions. 展开更多

In this study, we explored to combine traffic maps and smartphone trajectories to model traffic air pollution, exposure and health impact. The approach was step-by-step modeling through the causal chain: engine emission, traffic density versus traffic velocity, traffic pollution concentration, exposure along individual trajectories, and health risk. A generic street with 100 km/h speed limit was used as an example to test the model. A single fixed-time trajectory had maximum exposure at velocity of 45 km/h at maximum pollution concentration. The street population had maximum exposure shifted to a velocity of 15 km/h due to the congestion density of vehicles. The shift is a universal effect of exposure. In this approach, nearly every modeling step of traffic pollution depended on traffic velocity. A traffic map is a super-efficient pre-processor for calculating real-time traffic pollution exposure at global scale using big data analytics. 展开更多

接驳公交是城市公共交通系统的重要部分,用于解决轨道交通乘客“最后一公里”出行难题。针对固定线路接驳公交中边缘地区乘客步行前往公交站时间较长的问题,提出在固定线路公交服务范围边缘处布置需求响应公交,从而实现双模式接驳公交... 接驳公交是城市公共交通系统的重要部分,用于解决轨道交通乘客“最后一公里”出行难题。针对固定线路接驳公交中边缘地区乘客步行前往公交站时间较长的问题,提出在固定线路公交服务范围边缘处布置需求响应公交,从而实现双模式接驳公交一体化布局。为科学且人性化地划分不同模式接驳公交的服务范围,基于用户均衡理论,提出以乘客出行时间均衡为目标的双模式接驳公交一体化布局模型;为在多个达到均衡条件的布局方案中进一步挑选出最优布局方案,建立以乘客出行时间最小为目标的优化模型,并设计遗传算法求解。最后,以重庆东站站前片区为研究案例验证模型与算法的可行性与有效性,求解结果证明双模式接驳公交一体化布局可以在不增加投入车辆数的前提下相比单一固定线路运营模式降低乘客出行时间成本32%;但需求响应模式的加入也会导致公交人均能耗上升83%。 展开更多

The operating characteristics of buses and cars under different flow conditions were studied using the simulation model, and the speed-flow models of buses and cars were established based on the simulation results. Finally, the threshold values of traffic flow for the provision of exclusive bus lanes was determined with the target of optimal travel benefits (per capi- ta) , which would provide a basis for the planning and design of exclusive bus lanes on urban roads. 展开更多
