The electric stimulation induced electromagnetic field can nourish nerve, postpone muscular atrophy, and help the postoperative neuromuscular function. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of low-frequency pulse percutaneous electric stimulation on the functional recovery of postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury, and quantitatively evaluate the results of electromyogram (EMG) examination before and after treatment. DESIGN : A retrospective case analysis SETTING: The Sixth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University PARTICIPANTS: Nineteen postoperative inpatients with peripheral nerve injury were selected from the De- partment of Orthopaedics, the Sixth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University from June 2005 to January 2006, including 13 males and 6 females aged 24-62 years with an average of 36 years old. There were 3 cases of brachial plexus nerve injury, 3 of median nerve injury, 7 of radial nerve injury, 3 of ul- nar nerve injury and 3 of common peroneal nerve injury, and all the patients received probing nerve fiber restoration. Their main preoperative manifestations were dennervation, pain in limbs, motor and sensory disturbances. All the 19 patients were informed with the therapeutic program and items for evaluation. METHODS: ① Low-frequency pulse percutaneous electric stimulation apparatus: The patients were given electric stimulation with the TERESA cantata instrument (TERESA-0, Shanghai Teresa Health Technology, Co., Ltd.). The patients were stimulated with symmetric square waves of 1-111 Hz, and the intensity was 1.2-5.0 mA, and it was gradually adjusted according to the recovered conditions of neural regeneration following the principle that the intensity was strong enough and the patients felt no obvious upset. They were treated for 4- 24 weeks, 10-30 minutes for each time, 1-3 times a day, and 6 weeks as a course. ② EMG examination was applied to evaluate the recoveries of recruitment, motor conduction velocity (MCV) and sensory conduction velocity (SCV) before and after treatment. The patients were examined with the EMG apparatus (DIS- A2000C, Danmark) before and after the treatment of percutaneous electric stimulation. ③Standards for evaluating the effects included cured (complete recovery of motor functions, muscle strength of grade 5, no abnormality in EMG examination), obviously effective [general recovery of motor function, muscle strength of grade 4, no or a few denervation potentials, motor conduction velocity (MCV) and sensory conduction velocity (SCV)], improved (partial recovery of motor function, muscle strength of grade 3, denervation potentials and reinneration potentials, slowed MCV and SCV, invalid (no obvious changes of motor function). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Ameliorated degree of the nerve function of the postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury treated with percutaneous electric stimulation; ② Changes of EMG examination before and after treatment. RESULTS: All the 19 postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury were involved in the analysis of results. ① Comparison of nerve function before and after treatment in 19 patients with peripheral nerve injury of different sites: For the patients with radial nerve injury (n=7), the nerve functions all completely recovered after 8-week treatment, and the cured and obvious rate was 100% (7/7); For the patients with brachial plexus nerve injury (n=3), 1 case had no obvious improvement, and the cured and obvious rate was 67% (2/3); For the patients with common peroneal nerve injury (n=3), the extension of foot dorsum generally recovered in 1 case of nerve contusion after 4-week treatment, and the cured and obvious rate was 67% (2/3); For the patients with median nerve injury (n=3), muscle strength was obviously recovered, and the cured and obvious rate was 100% (3/3); For the patients with ulnar nerve injury (n=3), 1 case only had recovery of partial senses, and the cured and obvious rate was 67% (2/3). Totally 9 cases were cured, 7 were obviously effective, 1 was improved, and only 2 were invalid. After 4 courses, the cured rate of damaged nerve function after four courses was 47% (9/19), and effective rate was 89% (17/19).② Comparison of EMG examination before and after treatment: Before and after percutaneous electric stimulation, he effective rates of recruitment, MCV and SCV were 89% (17/19), 58% (11/19), 47% (9/19) respectively, and there were extremely obvious differences (P〈 0.01). CONCLUSION: ①Low-frequency pulse percutaneous electric stimulation can improve the nerve function of postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury of different sites, especially that the injuries of radial nerve and median nerve recover more obviously. ②Percutaneous electric stimulation can ameliorate the indexes of EMG examination, especially the recruitment, in postoperative patients with peripheral nerve injury.展开更多

We investigate both the positive and negative breakdown characteristics of PC. The streamer patterns are obtained by ultra-high-speed cameras. The experimental results show that the positive breakdown voltage of PC is about 135% higher than the negative one, which is abnormal compared with the common liquid. The shape of the positive streamer is filamentary and branchy, while the negative streamer is tree-like and less branched. According to these experimental results, a charge layer structure model at the interface between the metal electrode and liquid is presented. It is suggested that the abnormal polarity effect basically arises from the electric field strength difference in the interface between both electrodes and PC. All the devices are operated under the same test conditions, except for the initial formation process with different modes. Based on the statistical results, the high resistance state (FIRS) under the dc forming mode shows a lower value with better distribution compared with that under the pulse mode. One of the possible reasons for such a phenomenon originates from different properties of conductive filament (CF) formed in the resistive switching layer under two different modes. For the dc forming mode, the formed filament is thought to be continuous, which is hard to be ruptured, resulting in a lower HRS. However, in the case of pulse forming, the filament is discontinuous where the transport mechanism is governed by hopping. The low resistance state (LRS) can be easily changed by removing a few trapping states from the conducting path. Hence, a higher FIRS is thus observed. However, the HRS resistance is highly dependent on the length of the gap opened. A slight variation of the gap length will cause wide dispersion of resistance.展开更多

The pulse attenuation effect is found in 3T inverter chain, and the pulse can not completely propagate through the inverter chain as LET increases. The discovery will provide a new insight into SET hardened design, the 3T inverter layout structure (or similar layout structures) will be a better method in integrated circuits (ICs) design in radiation environment.展开更多

It is demonstrated that changing the elliptic parameter is efficient for controlling both in-pulse and post-pulse molecular alignment and orientation. The delay time also has an influence on the field-free molecular alignment and orientation.展开更多

In this paper, not only the off-state p-channel metal–oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (PMOS FET), but also the on-state PMOS is struck by a heavy-ion in the two-transistor inverter chain, due to the charge sharing collection and the electrical interaction. The SET induced by striking the off-state PMOS is efficiently mitigated by the pulse quenching effect, but the SET induced by striking the on-state PMOS becomes dominant. It is indicated in this study that in the advanced technologies, the SET will no longer just be induced by an ion striking the off-state transistor, and the SET sensitive region will no longer just surround the off-state transistor either, as it is in the older technologies. We also discuss this issue in a three-transistor inverter in depth, and the study illustrates that the three-transistor inverter is still a better replacement for spaceborne integrated circuit design in advanced technologies.展开更多

Two silicate glasses are taken as the specimens, their frequency dependences of longitudinal velocities are measured in the frequency range of 50-350 MHz, and the phase advances of ultrasonic signals caused by diffraction effect are calculated using A. O. Williams' theoretical expression. For the velocity error due to diffraction effect, the experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical prediction. It has been shown that the velocity error due to diffraction effect is directly proportional to dθ21 (f)/df, whereθ21 (f) is the phase advances difference between the two partial reflection signals used in velocity measurement and f is the ultrasonic frequency.展开更多

Methods: Twenty-four patients including 21 males and 3 females with an average age of 48. 7 years were enrolled. Parameters of electric pulse stimulation were as follows: the positive pulse range was 440 V, the negative pulse range 160 V, the cycle 8 ms, frequency 125 Hz, the positive pulse width was 0. 8 ms,the negative 0. 4 ms, and the output voltage 9 V. Coronary arteriography was performed by using Judkins technique, and intracoronary pressure with heart rate and any response of patients to the stimulation were recorded preand post-stimulation for 90 seconds. The relative diameter of left main coronary artery (LMCA ), left anterior descending artery (LAD ), left circumflex coronary artery (LCx), and right coronary artery (RCA) before and after the stimulation was measured in the same magnification and their results with recordings of intracoronary pressure and heart rate was analyzed. Results: A mild dilation effect was observed in all coronary arteries with an average dilation of 8. 3 % (6. 3 % - 15 % ) in LMCA, 7. 7% (5% - 11. 8%) in LAD, 8.5% (6. 7% - 11. 1% ) in LCx, and 9. 1% (6.1 % - 13. 3 % ) in RCA. No significant difference was found in the change of the diameter of LMCA, LAD, LCx and RCA before and after the stimulation. No significant change of intracoronary pressure was shown in three patients, an increase of intracoronary systolic and diastolic pressure by 36 % and 13 % was identified in one, and a decrease by 21 % and 31 % in another patient. Heart rate was decreased by 2. 3 % in those five patients. 文摘The giant magneto-impedance(GMI)effect of amorphous wire was analyzed theoretically. The amorphous wire had strong GMI effect in the stimulation of sharp pulse of 680kHz and18 mV.A pulse generator was designed to provide high frequency pulse to a magnetic impedance(MI)element. The induced voltage on the pickup coil wound on the amorphous wire was sampled and held with a detect circuit using analog switch.A stable magnetic sensor was constructed.A three-dimension micro magnetic field detector was designed with a central controller MSP430F449.High stability and sensitivity were obtained in the MI sensor with the detect circuit.Experiment results showed that the resolution of the detector was 1nT in the full scale of±2 Oe and the detector worked stably from the room temperature to about 80℃.A small ferromagnetic target was detected by the three-dimension detector in laboratory environment without magnetic shielding. The target moving direction was ascertained with the wave shape of axis parallel in that direction.

文摘Aims Pulse effects of precipitation cause soil organic matter to rapidly decompose and release CO2 in a short period. The pulse effects of precipitation are important for ecosystem C cycling and soil C balance, although their spatial variation in forest soils and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Methods Soil samples(0–10 cm)from 22 typical forest ecosystems in eastern China were used,to investigate the effects of simulated pulse precipitation on soil microbial respiration rates(Rs).We simulated pulsed precipitation to reach 65%water-holding capacity, the Rs was measured on a minute scale for 48 h.Important Findings Precipitation pulses can cause a rapid 1.70–38.12-fold increase in the rate of mineralized decomposing organic matter.Maximum Rs(_(Rs-soil-max)),cumulative Rs(A_(Rs-soil))and the time taken to arrive at the maximal Rs(T_(Rs-soil-max))were significant differences among different soil samples.Furthermore, the pulse effects in different climate zones were significantly different.R_(s-soil-max)(11.701μg C g^(-1)soil h^(-1))and A_(Rs-soil)(300.712μg C g^(-1) soil)were the highest in the mid-temperate zone.Soil chemical properties(total C and,N,pH and oxidation–reduction potential)and soil fractions were strongly correlated with the pulse effects in forest soils, but soil microbes contributed less. Our findings demonstrated that the pulse effects increase forest soil carbon emissions in the short term at a regional scale, and identified the factors with the greatest influence on this change. These findings help guide future studies on the C cycles of forest ecosystems and regulating ecosystem C cycles.

文摘In this paper, compared with two-transistor (2T) inverter chain, the production and propagation of P-hit single event transient (SET) in three-transistor (3T) inverter chain is studied in depth based on three-dimensional numerical simulations in a 90 nm bulk complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. The pulse attenuation effect is found in 3T inverter chain, and the pulse can not completely propagate through the inverter chain as LET increases. The discovery will provide a new insight into SET hardened design, the 3T inverter layout structure (or similar layout structures) will be a better method in integrated circuits (ICs) design in radiation environment.

文摘In this Letter, we study the molecular alignment and orientation driven by two elliptically polarized laser pulses. It is shown that the field-free molecular alignment can be achieved in a three-dimensional(3D) case, while the field-free molecular orientation is only along the x and y directions, and that the field-free alignment and orientation along different axes are related to the populations of the rotational states. It is demonstrated that changing the elliptic parameter is efficient for controlling both in-pulse and post-pulse molecular alignment and orientation. The delay time also has an influence on the field-free molecular alignment and orientation.

文摘As technologies scale down in size, multiple-transistors being affected by a single ion has become a universal phenomenon, and some new effects are present in single event transients (SETs) due to the charge sharing collection of the adjacent multiple-transistors. We also discuss this issue in a three-transistor inverter in depth, and the study illustrates that the three-transistor inverter is still a better replacement for spaceborne integrated circuit design in advanced technologies.

文摘Au nanoparticles were precipitated inside Au+-doped glass samples after irradiation by femtosecond laser or x-ray. Femtosecond laser and X-ray irradiation result in decreasing of anneal temperature and critical size for the precipitation of Au nanoparticles.
文摘The effect of diffraction on the ultrasonic velocity measured by the pulse interference method has been investigated in VHF range theoretically and experimentally. It has been shown that the velocity error due to diffraction effect is directly proportional to dθ21 (f)/df, whereθ21 (f) is the phase advances difference between the two partial reflection signals used in velocity measurement and f is the ultrasonic frequency.
文摘Objective: To evaluate angiographical diameter and pressure changes of coronary artery and heart rate in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) or suspected CHD immediately after electric pulse stimulation of Zhiyang point. Conclusion:Electric pulse stimulation of Zhiyang point can immediately produce mild dilation effect on coronary arteries, slight decrease on the heart rate, and different effects was produced in intracoronary pressure.Original article on CJIM(Chin) 1998; 18(6): 330
