Quality education reform in China gives high importance to developing the individual's full potential.However,the education system is dominated by a kind of exclusive competitiveness in which high stakes examinati...Quality education reform in China gives high importance to developing the individual's full potential.However,the education system is dominated by a kind of exclusive competitiveness in which high stakes examinations shape the learning process.This paper seeks to bring a philosophical perspective regarding the disjunction between the intent of reform and the reality of an exam-oriented system by proposing a conception of inclusive individuality.I argue that the conception of inclusive individuality pays particular attention to the inner strength of every unique student and is crucial to realizing the individual's full potential.The ideas of three philosophers,John Dewey,Liang Shuming,and Albert Camus,are drawn upon in formulating this conception of inclusive individuality.At the practical level,the paper suggests the use of narrative approach as a way of developing students'inner strength to bring their lives into the classroom and empowering them to interact with the formal curriculum and develop their own inclusive individuality.展开更多

To remove obstacles in the path of‘Education for All’,the government of India launched several programs,Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA)being one of them.Despite several attempts,the government has failed to be successful...To remove obstacles in the path of‘Education for All’,the government of India launched several programs,Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA)being one of them.Despite several attempts,the government has failed to be successful in providing education to all students and the impact of such schemes has not been very good at the ground level.In India,children are not absent from school owing to a lack of demand;rather,low quality of government education delivery is a major cause for their absence.There is a need to redefine the Indian education system or policy to a new level as government schools are unable to fulfil the growing demand for high-quality education.Direct government funding to children or parents rather than schools can provide parents or children with the ability to select the school of their choice,whether it is a government or private school.This may be accomplished through the education voucher scheme.Governments do not need to spend any additional public funds on vouchers to implement this approach.The education voucher scheme deserves an effort among the several approaches that are being pursued to improve school education.展开更多

Lecturer’s capacity has been evaluated using different parameters in Assosa University, Ethiopia. Mandatorily, lecturers are evaluated using printed check list. For the last few years we observed that, the lecturer efficiency score is found on the shelf and not checked by anyone to know the gaps and to establish follow-up system. The use of intranet based web system is better to use lecturer’s efficiency result to monitor their performance and to establish follow-up mechanism. In this study, a prototype of web based yearbook efficiency management system for evaluating and monitoring the performance of lecturers was designed and developed. The evaluation process in the system was presented according to the university evaluation format. Supportive learning plays a substantial role in providing a quality edu-cation system.The evaluation of students’performance impacts their deeper insight into the subject knowledge.Specifically,it is essential to mai...Supportive learning plays a substantial role in providing a quality edu-cation system.The evaluation of students’performance impacts their deeper insight into the subject knowledge.Specifically,it is essential to maintain the baseline foundation for building a broader understanding of their careers.This research concentrates on establishing the students’knowledge relationship even in reduced samples.Here,Synthetic Minority Oversampling TEchnique(SMOTE)technique is used for pre-processing the missing value in the provided input dataset to enhance the prediction accuracy.When the initial processing is not done substantially,it leads to misleading prediction accuracy.This research concentrates on modelling an efficient classifier model to predict students’perfor-mance.Generally,the online available student dataset comprises a lesser amount of sample,and k-fold cross-validation is performed to balance the dataset.Then,the relationship among the students’performance(features)is measured using the auto-encoder.The stacked Long Short Term Memory(s-LSTM)is used to learn the previous feedback connection.The stacked model handles the provided data and the data sequence for understanding the long-term dependencies.The simula-tion is done in the MATLAB 2020a environment,and the proposed model shows a better trade-off than the existing approaches.Some evaluation metrics like pre-diction accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,AUROC,F1-score and recall are evalu-ated using the proposed model.The performance of the s?LSTM model is compared with existing approaches.The proposed model gives 89% accuracy,83% precision,86%recall,and 87%F-score.The proposed model outperforms the existing systems in terms of the earlier metrics.展开更多
While quality in education has long been a significant issue,definitions of quality are often taken for granted rather than argued for,allowing the possibility that the criteria used by researchers and planners to jud...While quality in education has long been a significant issue,definitions of quality are often taken for granted rather than argued for,allowing the possibility that the criteria used by researchers and planners to judge quality may differ from local stakeholders’perspectives,particularly regarding the place within quality education of the knowledge,culture and language of non-dominant groups.However,there is an accumulating convergence of research that calls for assessments of quality in education of non-dominant linguistic and cultural groups that engage local stakeholders’understandings.This paper presents a recent study that attempts to do this,investigating the perspectives of students,parents,teachers,and administrators in Sunan Yughur Autonomous County,a multiethnic,multilingual district in rural Gansu,inhabited by several nationalities.Over one hundred participants in three schools were asked what was important for children to learn in school;including what aspects of local(minority)knowledge,culture and language should be taught as part of school-based curriculum.The study found three educational visions in local schools:regular urban education;Chinese-medium,multicultural education;and bilingual,multicultural education.The study also found that stakeholders support the latter vision,which reflects society’s actual cultural and linguistic pluralism,as well as much research on quality education for non-dominant groups.The paper concludes with a call for a comparative approach,both domestic and international,towards the investigation of quality education of non-dominant groups in China.展开更多

文摘With the aim of deepening the college entrance examination reform,this paper analyzes the orientation and role of examination evaluation in the reform of college entrance examination.Firstly,the paper expounds the implementation of the college entrance examination reform and affirms the necessity of several related educational reforms.Secondly,it expoxmds the orientation of examination evaluation.Finally,it summarizes the function of examination evaluation from four aspects:guiding the development of students*comprehensive quality,supervising teaching work,promoting the progress of teaching work,and guiding examination propositions.The advantages of examination evaluation are emphasized to promote the reform of college entrance examination and further drive the progress of the education reform in China.
文摘This paper seeks to examine the quality and equality of basic education of Hong Kong based on the first three cycles of the Program for International Student Assessment(PISA).Results from these three assessments suggested that the Hong Kong students have an outstanding performance in mathematics,science and reading.In particular,the performance of reading improves substantially in PISA 2006.As far as equality in education is concerned,the achievement gap of students from different socio-economic backgrounds in Hong Kong is relatively small compared with other countries.However,the academic performance variation between-schools suggest that,there is still academic segregation among secondary schools in Hong Kong although it has been reduced slightly in the PISA 2006.

文摘The assessment of quality in higher education from the perspective of students has three dimensions:students’assessment of teaching,students’satisfaction and students’learning engagement.These differ in conceptions of quality,evaluation methods,evaluation content,evaluation purposes,traits and priorities.The authors conducted three rounds of empirical investigations to study higher education quality assessment from students’perspective and concluded that students play multiple roles in higher education evaluation and assessment,all of which can be improved by strengthening students’objectivity and participation,evaluating the added value of a college education oriented to student development and taking the students’perspective as an important way to contribute to higher education quality enhancement,assurance and control,and make proper use of higher education evaluations and assessments.

文摘The era of the AEC(ASEAN Economic Community)is an era of regional globalization,and this needs to be examined carefully in the world of education in Indonesia so that Indonesia’s HRs(Human Resources)are ready to face increasingly fierce competition with other countries.In this regard,it is necessary to lead a culture-based education leader at the school level to produce quality education that is able to produce students who have personality integrity,disciplined attitude,and are creative,innovative,and competitive.Education in ASEAN countries has now entered the era of globalization,where one of them is marked by the ease in which people get information from various parts of the world as a result of rapid technological developments.This has both positive and negative influences on those who receive it.The positive influence of globalization on changes in values and attitudes causes a shift in values and attitudes of all irrational people to be rational while the negative influence of globalization on society is that people feel facilitated with advanced technology that makes them feel they no longer need others in their activities,where sometimes they forget that they are social beings who need to interact with one another.
文摘Both Ireland and the European Union use a framework of qualifications as a means of charting and describing the level of ability demonstrated by individuals in specific domains.Europe's frameworks are outcome based,identifying individuals by the level of ability they have demonstrated to assessors,and as such provide a useful means of mapping pathways through education for students,across a whole career or lifetime.Additionally,the framework serves as a communication tool,whereby institutions,students,employers or indeed countries can use a common vocabulary to discuss the achievements and abilities of individuals.We describe in brief the qualifications frameworks used in both China and Europe,and ask whether the European Qualifications Framework could serve as a communication tool between China and Europe.
