Madam Chairwoman, Mr. Rapporteur, Distinguished Members of the Committee, First of all, I would like to extend, on behalf of the Chinese delegation, our heartfelt greetings and respects to all the distinguished members of the Committee. The Committee has made enormous efforts and played an important role in promoting the objectives and principles of the International Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The Chinese Government appreciates your endeavour and will continue to support the work of the Committee.

Analysis on Morality of the Protagonist of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is honored as the most typical novel of American literature after the Civil War. This story unveils the hypocrisy of religion and scoffs at the conventional social principle. Affected by the deep-rooted racial discrimination, Huck pays little respect to the black slaves as other white people do at first. After embarking on the raft with Jim together, he has got the chance to know more about what the black slave truly is. He never stops struggling inside, and eventually Jim's kindness and loyalty helps Huck to waken humanity in his heart and defeat his moral conflict. Therefore through the deepened analysis of the plot and the author, the reasons for the change of Huck's morality can boil down to social conventions, Huck's complicated character, and moreover the democratic ideal of Twain.

The Interpretation of the Tragic Fate of Tom Robinson from the Rape Trial in To Kill a Mockingbird

To Kill a Mockingbird is the masterpiece of Harper Lee,who created an important black man named Tom Robinson in it.Although hard-working and kind-hearted,Tom Robinson becomes a victim of racial discrimination with the tragic death.He is the epitome of the era and the tragedy of the individual.Based on the rape trial in To Kill a Mockingbird,this paper analyzes the injustice and inequality for black people in the white-dominated society from the perspective of racism,interpreting the tragic fate of Tom Robinson under the racial discrimination.

Amo’s Hermeneutics and Hegel’s Historical Prejudices Against Africa

During the lifetime of Anton Wilhelm Amos(ca.1700-ca.1755),the hermeneutics served not only interpreting and understanding of philosophical contexts,but also to overcome the prejudices and the underlying spirit of partiality with them.As one of the first modern theorist and systematician of hermeneutics,Amo dealt intensively with the prejudice problem.According to him,any prejudice is a mistake of the mind.Generalizing,Amo claims that prejudices are not a consequence of a false knowledge,but they arise by the lack of knowledge par excellence and are therefore in contradiction with reason.Amo sees the task of hermeneutics to counteract the prejudices inherent contradictions.With regard to the historical hermeneutics,he recommends to look at the past,not by selective or specific moments,but in its generality,in order to avoid contradictory and even false interpretations.But he acknowledges that only generalists as polyvalent historians of philosophy with an interdisciplinary mindset and multilingualism knowledge have this ability to general thinking.It will be examined more closely in this presentation whether Hegel can meet the hermeneutic claim within the meaning of Amo because of his pessimistic-ridiculous and contradictory prejudices about Africa.Finally,the question will be whether Hegel perhaps confounded his mental projections with the real history of Africa why he did not succeed to identify the real causes of the problems of this continent,and to describe their immediate consequences objectively.

Critical Discourse Analysis--The Slogans in the Protests for George Floyd

Critical discourse methodology is an extremely significant and meaningful branch of systemic functional linguistics which pays more attentions in the formation,diffusion,and acceptability of acertain discourse,and also the investigation on social background;meanwhile it is always used to discuss and pin down those familiar perceptions and ideologies that have been overlooked by the public so that new re-examination can be carried out to dig out some other attractive points.In this paper some basic theoretical basis and methodologies will be explained and then,by applying the critical discourse analysis,the slogans in the protests from Minneapolis to the whole America.Racial discrimination has invariably been a severe social problem for more two centuries in the U.S.A.After the Emancipation Proclamation by Abraham Lincoln,157 years has passed;however this kind of serious social issue still haunts among every American people.Countless protests have happened in the development of America;thus by analyzing the different types of slogans in this recent protest,novel discovery and meaningful retrospect would emerge.

The Female Dilemma in The Grass Is Singing

Doris Lessing,a British female writer,published her first work,The Grass is Singing in 1950,which has attracted the attention of literary critics since its publication.From the perspectives of postcolonialism,ecology and ecofeminism,the critics interpret the racial oppression and conflicts in the African colonies and the tragic story of Mary,which is the heroine under the influence of racial discrimination.From the perspective of feminist criticism theory,this paper mainly discusses the survival and spiritual dilemma faced by Mary,the heroine who is oppressed and bound in the patriarchal society,the reasons behind Mary’s dilemma,and Mary’s behavior and measures when facing the dilemma.It reveals the survival status of women in patriarchal society,which is the author’s criticism and irony of the patriarchal society.It is of positive significance for the development of feminist literature to cry out about women’s miserable situation.

On the Regulation of Racist Speech

The legal regulation of racist speech involves limitation on the freedom of speech, which requires prudent trade-offs between freedom and quality. The protection of the freedom of speech, although of great value to a democratic society, does not include the pro tection of racist speech. The justification for regulating racist speech lies in the impact of racial ly-charged speech, not in the content of the speech itself. The regulation of racist speech should take into consideration thecriteriaofsubjectivemalignancy,necessityandproportionality.Due to their social status and special role in a democratic society, the media and political figures should bear a more stringent duty of care because of the harm and consequences of their racist remarks, which are far greater than those of other groups. During the pandemic, legal regula tion is required regarding remarks of politicians and the media that imply discrimination linked to CoVID-19.

An Analysis on American Racism from the Movie Green Book

The United States has always been a country that encourages and advocates human rights equality but the problem of racial discrimination lies in a great deal of aspects of society as before.With the improvement and alteration of people’s living conditions,the evaluation of a movie judged by audience is not only just about its entertainment any more but also about the content and social problem it revealed.Green Book is a masterpiece of that combines entertainment and profundity.The film reveals racial discrimination in the United States by showing the itinerary of the black pianist Don and the white driver Tony all the way.Based on the analysis of the plot and the main characters in the movie Green Book,this paper will point out and analyze the forms and phenomena of racial discrimination in the United States,striving for the realization of real equality for all.
