Empirical and deterministic models used in path loss predictions have not produced optimal results. In this paper, we introduced machine learning algorithms to path loss predictions because it offers a flexible network architecture and extensive data can be used. We introduced support vector regression (SVR) and radial basis function (RBF) models to path loss predictions in the investigated environments. The SVR model was able to process several input parameters without introducing complexity to the network architecture. The RBF on its part provides a good function approximation. Hyperparameter tuning of the machine learning models was carried out in order to achieve optimal results. The performances of the SVR and RBF models were compared and result validated using the root-mean squared error (RMSE). The two machine learning algorithms were also compared with the Cost-231, SUI, Egli, Freespace, Cost-231 W-I models. The analytical models overpredicted path loss. Overall, the machine learning models predicted path loss with greater accuracy than the empirical models. The SVR model performed best across all the indices with RMSE values of 1.378 dB, 1.4523 dB, 2.1568 dB in rural, suburban and urban settings respectively and should therefore be adopted for signal propagation in the investigated environments and beyond.展开更多

Firstly, based on the compactly supported radial basis function, the paper makes the complex quadratic function (Multiquadric, MQ for short) to be transformed and proposes a class of compactly supported MQ function. Secondly, the paper describes a method that interpolates discrete motion capture data to solve the motion vectors of the interpolation points and they are used in facial expression reconstruction. Finally, according to this characteris- tic of the uneven distribution of the face markers, the markers are numbered and grouped in accordance with the density level, and then be interpolated in line with each group. The approach not only ensures the accuracy of the deformation of face local area and smoothness, but also reduces the time complexity of computing.展开更多

The system didn' t need human interaction from the feature extraction stage till the facial expression classification stage. The features extracted from a 3D expression mesh mod- el were a bunch of radial facial curves to represent the spatial deformation of the geometry features on human face. Each facial curve was a surface line on the 3D face mesh model, begun from the nose tip and ended at the boundary of the previously trimmed 3D face points cloud. Then Euclid dis- tance was employed to calculate the difference between facial curves extracted from the neutral face and each face with different expressions of one person as feature. By employing support vector ma- chine (SVM) as classifier, the experimental results on the well-known 3D-BUFE dataset indicate that the proposed system could better classify the six prototypical facial expressions than state-of-art al- gorithms.展开更多
