Nano-sized powders of rare-earth ions added CdFe2O4 ferrites were synthesized by oxalate co-precipitation method.The influence of R ions(R = Sm3+, Y3+, and La3+) on the microstructure and magnetic properties of CdFe2O4 ferrites was studied.XRD, SEM, FTIR, and magnetic hysteresis loops were used for analyzing the samples.The addition of R ions alters the structure of the powders and decreases the crystalline size, lattice constant, and grain size.The magnetic properties such as saturation magnetization, remanent magnetization, and magnetic moment increased due to addition of rare-earth ions in CdFe2O4 ferrite.The formation of secondary phase on the grain boundaries supports the abnormal growth.FTIR spectra show two absorption bands.Results suggest that the magnetic properties depend on the particular method of preparation and additives. 展开更多

To improve the performance of Ni-Zn ferrites for power field use,the influence of MnO2 additive on the properties of Ni-Zn ferrites was investigated by the conventional powder metallurgy.The results show that MnO2 does not form a visible second phase in the doping mass fraction range of(0-2.0%).The average grain size,sintering density and real permeability gradually decrease with the increase of the MnO2 content.And the DC resistivity continuously increases with the increase of MnO2 content.The saturation magnetization(magnetic moment in unit mass) first increases slightly when mass fraction of MnO2 is less than 0.4% MnO2,and then gradually decreases with increasing the MnO2 mass fraction due to the exchange interaction of the cations.When the excitation frequency is less than 1 MHz,the power loss(Pcv) continuously increases with increasing the MnO2 content due to the decrease of average grain size.However,when the excitation frequency exceeds 1 MHz,eddy current loss gradually becomes the predominant contribution to Pcv.And the sample with a higher resistivity favors a lower Pcv,except for the sample with 2.0% MnO2.The sample without additive has the best Pcv when worked at frequencies less than 1 MHz;and the sample with 1.6% MnO2 additive has the best Pcv when worked at frequencies higher than 1 MHz. 展开更多

A series of ZnxFe3-xO4(x = 0, 0. 15, 0. 30, 0o 40, 0. 48, 0. 60, 0. 70 ) nanoparticles prepared by hydrothermal method are studied by use of transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer and Mossbauer spectrometer. All samples present a spinel structure. The lattice constant increases with the increase in the Zn content while the grain size decreases from 18 nm to 9 nm. Moreover, the saturation magnetzafion at 5 K and 293 K increases initially when x ≤ 0. 40 and subsequently decreases when x 〉 0. 40. At room temperature, Mossbauer spectra exhibit a change from a well-defined sextet spectrum to a doublet spectrum as the Zn content increases. The doublet spectrum begins to appear when x = 0. 6, while it begins when x = 0. 80 for the bulk materials. The results of magnetization and Curie temperature measurements indicate that the doublet spectrum is due to the surperparamagnetic state of the nanoparticles. Furthermore, the relationship between the hyperfine field variation and the cation distribution is discussed. The variation of magnetic properties is interpreted by the three-sublattice Yafet-Kittel (Y-K)model. 展开更多

In order to improve the absorbing properties of M- type barium ferrite absorbing materials, M-type barium ferrite/graphene oxide composites with different graphene oxide contents were synthesized by the sol-gel autocombustion method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), a scanning electronic microscopy ( SEM ), a physical properties measurement system (PPMS-9), and a vector network analyzer were used to analyze their structure, surface morphology, magnetic and absorbing properties, respectively. The results show that the absorbing band of the composite absorbing material is widened and the absorbing strength is increased compared with the pure M-type barium ferrite. The sample with the content of doped graphene oxide of 3% has the minimum reflectivity at 10 to 18 GHz frequencies. Hence, the doped graphene oxide effectively improves the absorbing properties of M-type barium ferrite. 展开更多

A novel topology of modular ferrite magnet fluxswitching linear motor(FMFSLM)use for track transport is presented in this paper,which enables more ferrite magnets to be inserted into the primary iron core.The motor has a significant low-cost advantage in long-distance linear drive.The proposed FMFSLM’s structure and working principle were introduced.Further,the thrust force expression of the motor was established.The thrust force components triggering thrust force ripple were investigated,and their expressions can be obtained according to the inductances’Fourier series expressions.Resultantly,the relationship between the harmonics of thrust force and that of self-and mutual inductances was revealed clearly.Based on the relationship,a skewed secondary should be practical to reduce the thrust force ripple.Thus,the effect of employing a skewed secondary to the proposed FMFSLM was investigated,and an optimized skewing span distance was determined.Finite element analysis(FEA)was conducted to validate the exactness of the theoretical analysis.The simulation results indicate that the strategy of suppressing thrust force ripple has a significant effect.Meanwhile,the motor maintains a good efficiency characteristic.The results of the prototype experiment are in good agreement with FEAs,which further verifies the proposed modular interior FMFSLM’s practicability. 展开更多

A series of Gd-doped Li-Ni ferrites with the formula of LiNi0.5GdxFe2-xO4 where x = 0.00 - 0.08 in steps of 0.02, were prepared by thermolysis of oxalate precursors obtained by rheological phase reaction. The structure, morphology, and the magnetic properties of the samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). A single spinel phase was obtained in the range of x = 0.00 - 0.04. The lattice parameters of the Gd-doped samples were larger than that of pure Li-Ni ferrite, and increased in the range of 0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04, then decreased up to x = 0.08, because of the formation of the secondary phase (Gd- FeO3). All samples were spheric particles with an average size of about 100 nm, but agglomerated to some extent. The hysteresis loops indicated that the saturation magnetization decreased gradually with increasing Gd content, while the variation of coercivity was related to the microstructure of the Gd-doped samples. 展开更多

The single SrM phase was detected by XRD in the as-received samples by controlling the Fe contents in the reagents. The substitution of La^3+and Zn^2+ obviously increased the magnetic properties of the as-prepared samples. The maximum improvements of Br, Hcb and (BH)m were 14.4%, 15.3% and 30.7%, respectively compared with that of the samples without La-Zn substitution. Microstructure observation by SEM showed that the SHS method benefited forming the better particle features and achieving the higher Hcj in comparison with the traditional firing method. 展开更多

MnZn ferrites with the chemical formula Mn0.68Zn0.25Fe2.07O4 have been prepared by a conventional ceramic technique. Then, the effects of CuO addition on the microstructure and temperature dependence of magnetic properties of MnZn ferrites were investigated by characterizing the fracture surface micrograph and measuring the magnetic properties over a temperature ranging from 25 to 120 C. The results show that the lattice constant and average grain size increase with the increase of CuO concentration. When the CuO concentration is below 0.07 wt.%, the initial permeability and saturation magnetic flux density increase monotonously, and the temperature of the secondary maximum peak in the curve of initial permeability versus temperature and the lowest power loss shift to a lower temperature with the increase of CuO concentra-tion. However, excessive CuO concentration (0.07 wt.%) results in abnormal grain growth and porosity increase, which causes the initial permeability and saturation magnetic flux density decrease and the power loss increase at room temperature. Furthermore, the temperature of the secondary maximum peak in the curve of initial permeability versus temperature and the lowest power loss shift to a higher temperature. 展开更多

Al-substituted barium ferrite powders were synthesized using the sol-gel auto-combustion method according to the molecular formula BaAlxFe12-xO19 (x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 1.0). Compared with non-substituted barium ferrite annealing at 1000 ℃, the vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) measurement manifested that the optimum magnetic properties formation temperature of Al-substituted barium ferrite was 1 100 ℃. The data from X-ray diffractometer (XRD) showed that with increasing x, the lattice constants (a and c) decreased as well as the unit-cell volume Vcell. Magnetic measurement of non-substituted and Al-substituted powders annealed from 900 ℃ to 1 200 ℃ exhibited that the maximum magnetization M (10 kOe), the remanent magnetization Mr and the coercivity Hc depended strongly on the chemical composition of powder as well as the annealing temperature. When annealing at 1 100 ℃, BaAl0.5Fe11.5O19 of high coercivity Hc (6584 Oe) was produced. Meanwhile, M (10 kOe) and Mr were 42.83 emu/g and 25.65 emu/g, respectively. 展开更多

A magnetically separable photocatalyst TiO2/SiO2/NiFe2O4 (TSN) with a typical ferromagnetic hysteresis was prepared by a liquid catalytic phase transfer method. When the intensity of applied magnetic field weakened to zero, the remnant magnetism of the prepared photocatalyst faded to zero. The photocatalytst can be separated from water when an external magnetic field is added and redispersed into aqueous solution after the external magnetic field is eliminated, that makes the photocatalysts promising for wastewater treatment. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) were used to characterize the structure of the photocatalyst indicating that the magnetic SiOffNiFe204 (SN) particle was compactly enveloped by P-25 titania and Tit2 shell was formed. The magnetic composite showed high photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methyl orange in water. A thin SiO2 layer between NiFe2O4 and TiO2 shell prevented effectively the leakage of charges from TiO2 particles to NiFe2O4, which gave rise to the increase in photocatalytic activity. Moreover, the experiment on recycled use of TSN demonstrated a good repeatability of the photocatalytic activity. 展开更多

Dysprosium content has an effect on magnetic responsibility of dysprosium ferrite/polyacrylamide magnetic microsphere. The sintered sample of MnZn ferrite was prepared by both traditional pressing and cool isostatic pressing on MnZn ferrite nanoparticals. The sintering process of which was segmented. The density, microstructure and phase composition of sintered sample were analyzed by Archimedes′law, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The grain growth and densification in sintering process of MnZn ferrite were investigated. The magnetic property was measured by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and Nim2000 magnetic material testing system. The results show that the better sintering temperature is 850 ℃, at which the better magnetic property and microstructure of sintered compact were obtained. 展开更多

Powder mixtures of Zn, NiO, and Fe2O3 are mechanically alloyed by high energy ball milling to produce Ni-Zn ferrite with a nominal composition of Ni0.36Zn0.64Fe2O4. The effects of milling atmospheres (argon, air, and oxygen), milling time (from 0 to 30 h) and heat treatment are studied. The products are characterized using x-ray diffractometry, field emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, and transmitted electron microscopy. The results indicate that the desired ferrite is not produced during the milling in the samples milled under either air or oxygen atmospheres. In those samples milled under argon, however, Zn/NiO/Fe2O3 reacts with a solid-state diffusion mode to produce Ni-Zn ferrite nanocrystalline in a size of 8 nm after 30-h-milling. The average crystallite sizes decrease to 9 nm and 10 nm in 30-h-milling samples under air and oxygen atmospheres, respectively. Annealing the 30-h-milling samples at 600℃ for 2 h leads to the formation of a single phase of Ni-Zn ferrite, an increase of crystallite size, and a reduction of internal lattice strain. Finally, the effects of the milling atmosphere and heating temperature on the magnetic properties of the 30-h-milling samples are investigated. 展开更多

The microstructure and characteristics of pre-sintered strontium ferrite powder were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The present study shows that the pre-sintered strontium ferrite powder is provided with a certain particle size distribution, which results in high-density magnets. The strontium ferrite particle has a laminar hexagonal structure with a size similar to ferrite single domain. Ferric oxide phase due to an incomplete solid phase reaction in the first sintering is discovered, which will deteriorate the magnetic properties of ferrite magnet. In addition, the waste ferrite magnets with needle shape arranging along C axis in good order into the powders are found, which have no negative effects on finished product quality. 展开更多

NiZn ferrite thin fihns were performed on glass substrates of 85 ℃ by spin spray plating method. X-ray diffraction patterns of the films show that the samples have a cubic spinel structure with no extra lines corresponding to any other phases between 75 ℃ and 85 ℃. As the pH value of oxidizing solution increases to 8.3, the saturation magnetization increases to 3.13 × 10^5 A/m and resistivity to 127 m Ω ·cm. Film deposited at pH 7.8 has a smooth surface and definite columnar structure. The large wavy flakes were observed at pH 8.3. The high real part of complex permeability μ′ up to 36.1 and the imaginary part μ″ up to 53.2 were observed at 0.5 GHz by short microstrip line perturbation method. The μ″ of thin film has values higher than 20 at the frequencies between 0.5 GHz and 2 GHz, the film is a promising anti-noise material for high frequency applications, 展开更多

Ferrites having general formula Ni1-xZnxFe2O4 with x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, and 0.7 were prepared by wet chemical co-precipitation method. The structural and magnetic properties were studied by means of X-ray diffraction, magnetization, and AC susceptibility measurements. The X-ray analysis confirmed the single-phase formation of the samples. The lattice parameter obtained from XRD data was found to increase with Zn content x. The cation distribution was studied by X-ray intensity ratio calculations. Magnetization results exhibit collinear ferrimagnetic structure for x≤0.4, and which changes to non-collinear for x〉0.4. Curie temperature TC obtained from AC susceptibility data decreases with increasing x. 展开更多
