SPEEDING-UP RE-SAMPLED ALGORITHM IN RAY CASTING VOLUME RENDERING OF MEDICAL IMAGES

Ray casting algorithm can obtain a better quality image in volume rendering, however, it exists some problems, such as powerful computing capacity and slow rendering speed. How to improve the re-sampled speed is a key to speed up the ray casting algorithm. An algorithm is introduced to reduce matrix computation by matrix transformation characteristics of re-sampling points in a two coordinate system. The projection of 3-D datasets on image plane is adopted to reduce the number of rays. Utilizing boundary box technique avoids the sampling in empty voxel. By extending the Bresenham algorithm to three dimensions, each re-sampling point is calculated. Experimental results show that a two to three-fold improvement in rendering speed using the optimized algorithm, and the similar image quality to traditional algorithm can be achieved. The optimized algorithm can produce the required quality images, thus reducing the total operations and speeding up the volume rendering. 展开更多

In order to play a positive role of decentralised wind power on-grid for voltage stability improvement and loss reduction of distribution network,a multi-objective two-stage decentralised wind power planning method is proposed in the paper,which takes into account the network loss correction for the extreme cold region.Firstly,an electro-thermal model is introduced to reflect the effect of temperature on conductor resistance and to correct the results of active network loss calculation;secondly,a two-stage multi-objective two-stage decentralised wind power siting and capacity allocation and reactive voltage optimisation control model is constructed to take account of the network loss correction,and the multi-objective multi-planning model is established in the first stage to consider the whole-life cycle investment cost of WTGs,the system operating cost and the voltage quality of power supply,and the multi-objective planning model is established in the second stage.planning model,and the second stage further develops the reactive voltage control strategy of WTGs on this basis,and obtains the distribution network loss reduction method based on WTG siting and capacity allocation and reactive power control strategy.Finally,the optimal configuration scheme is solved by the manta ray foraging optimisation(MRFO)algorithm,and the loss of each branch line and bus loss of the distribution network before and after the adoption of this loss reduction method is calculated by taking the IEEE33 distribution system as an example,which verifies the practicability and validity of the proposed method,and provides a reference introduction for decision-making for the distributed energy planning of the distribution network. 展开更多

The heat receiver is an essential part of the Concentrating Solar Power plant,directly affecting its operation and safety.In this paper,the Monte Carlo ray-tracing algorithm was introduced to evaluate a 50 MW(e)external cylindrical receiver’s thermal performance.The radiation heat flux concentrated from the heliostats field and the view factors between grids divided from the tubes were both calculated using Monte Carlo ray-tracing algorithm.Besides,an in-house code was developed and verified,including three modules of the view-factor calculation,thermal performance calculation,and thermal stress calculation.It was also employed to investigate the 50 MW(e)receiver,and the detailed 3D profiles of temperature and thermal stress in the receiver were analyzed.It was found that the molten salt was heated from 298℃to 565℃and the tube at the 50 MW(e)receiver’s outlet had a high temperature,while the high thermal stress came out at the receiver’s entrance.Finally,the over-temperature of the receiver was discussed,and an optimization algorithm was introduced.The tube wall temperature and film temperature at the overheated area matched the safety criteria,and the outlet molten salt temperature still reached 563℃after the optimization process,with only 2℃dropped. 展开更多

A semi supervised image classification method for satellite images is proposed in this paper.The satellite images contain enormous data that can be used in various applications.The analysis of the data is a tedious task due to the amount of data and the heterogeneity of the data.Thus,in this paper,a Radial Basis Function Neural Network(RBFNN)trained using Manta Ray Foraging Optimization algorithm(MRFO)is proposed.RBFNN is a three-layer network comprising of input,output,and hidden layers that can process large amounts.The trained network can discover hidden data patterns in unseen data.The learning algorithm and seed selection play a vital role in the performance of the network.The seed selection is done using the spectral indices to further improve the performance of the network.The manta ray foraging optimization algorithm is inspired by the intelligent behaviour of manta rays.It emulates three unique foraging behaviours namelys chain,cyclone,and somersault foraging.The satellite images contain enormous amount of data and thus require exploration in large search space.The spiral movement of the MRFO algorithm enables it to explore large search spaces effectively.The proposed method is applied on pre and post flooding Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager(OLI)images of New Brunswick area.The method was applied to identify and classify the land cover changes in the area induced by flooding.The images are classified using the proposed method and a change map is developed using post classification comparison.The change map shows that a large amount of agricultural area was washed away due to flooding.The measurement of the affected area in square kilometres is also performed for mitigation activities.The results show that post flooding the area covered by water is increased whereas the vegetated area is decreased.The performance of the proposed method is done with existing state-of-the-art methods. 展开更多

In this paper,we present a novel ocean visualization framework,which focuses on analyzing multidimensional and spatiotemporal ocean data.GPU-based visualization methods are explored to effectively visualize ocean data.An improved ray casting algorithm for heterogeneous multisection ocean volume data is presented.A two-layer spherical shell is taken as the ocean data proxy geometry,which enables oceanographers to obtain a real geographic background based on global terrain.An efficient ray sampling technique including an adaptive sampling technique and a preintegrated transfer function is proposed to achieve high-effectiveness and high-efficiency rendering.Moreover,an interactive transfer function is also designed to analyze the 3D structure of ocean temperature and salinity anomaly phenomena.Based on the framework,an integrated visualization system called i4Ocean is created.The visualization of ocean temperature and salinity anomalies extracted interactively by the transfer function is demonstrated. 展开更多
