The viscoacoustic prestack RTM is of practical significance because itconsiders the viscosity of the subsurface media. One of the steps of RTM is solving thewave equation and extrapolating the wave field forward and backward; therefore, solvingaccurately and efficiently the wave equation affects the imaging results and the efficiencyof RTM. In this study, we use the optimal time-space domain dispersion high-order finite-difference (FD) method to solve the viscoacoustic wave equation. Dispersion analysis andnumerical simulations show that the optimal time-space domain FD method is more accurateand suppresses the numerical dispersion. We use hybrid absorbing boundary conditions tohandle the boundary reflection. We also use source-normalized cross-correlation imagingconditions for migration and apply Laplace filtering to remove the low-frequency noise.Numerical modeling suggests that the viscoacoustic wave equation RTM has higher imagingresolution than the acoustic wave equation RTM when the viscosity of the subsurface isconsidered. In addition, for the wave field extrapolation, we use the adaptive variable-lengthFD operator to calculate the spatial derivatives and improve the computational efficiencywithout compromising the accuracy of the numerical solution.展开更多

Finite element equations regarding generalized magneto-thermoelasticity problems with two relaxation times (i.e., the G-L theory) are derived using the principle of virtual work. For avoiding numerical complication involved in inverse Laplace and Fourier transformation and low precision thereof, the equations are solved directly in time-domain. As a numerical example, the derived equation is used to investigate the generalized magneto-thermoelastic behavior of a semi-infinite plate under magnetic field and subjecting to a thermal shock loading. The results demonstrate that FEM can faithfully predict the deformation of the plate and the induced magnetic field, and most importantly can reveal the sophisticated second sound effect of heat conduction in two-dimensional generalized thermoelastic solids, which is usually difficult to model by routine transformation methods. A peak can be observed in the distribution of stress and induced front and the magnitude of magnetic field at the heat wave the peak decreases with time, which can not be obtained by transformation methods. The new method can also be used to study generalized piezo-thermoelastic problems.展开更多

To this end, a light-scattering model for nonspherical particles is established based on the pseudo-spectral time domain(PSTD) technique. In this model, the perfectly matched layer with auxiliary differential equation(ADE-PML), an excellent absorption boundary condition(ABC) in the finite difference time domain generalized for the PSTD, and the weighted total field/scattered field(TF/SF) technique is employed to introduce the incident light into 3 D computational domain. To improve computational efficiency, the model is further parallelized using the Open MP technique. The modeling accuracy of the PSTD scheme is validated against Lorenz–Mie, Aden–Kerker, T-matrix theory and DDA for spheres, inhomogeneous particles and nonspherical particles, and the influence of the spatial resolution and thickness of ADE-PML on the modeling accuracy is discussed as well. Finally, the parallel computational efficiency of the model is also analyzed. The results show that an excellent agreement is achieved between the results of PSTD and well-tested scattering models, where the simulation errors of extinction efficiencies are generally smaller than 1%, indicating the high accuracy of our model. Despite its low spatial resolution, reliable modeling precision can still be achieved by using the PSTD technique, especially for large particles. To suppress the electromagnetic wave reflected by the absorption layers, a six-layer ADE-PML should be set in the computational domain at least.展开更多

Simulation results show that the spectral linewidth of spontaneous Brillouin scattering remains almost constant when the laser linewidth is less than 1 MHz at the same pulse width; otherwise, it increases sharply. A comparison between a fiber laser (FL) with 4-kHz linewidth at 3 dB and a distributed feedback (DFB) laser with 3-MHz linewidth is made experimentally. When a constant laser power is launched into the sensing fiber, the fitting linewidths of the beat signals (backscattered Brillouin light and local oscillator (LO)) is about 5 MHz wider for the DFB laser than for the FL and the intensity of the beat signal is about a half. Furthermore, the frequency fluctuation in the long sensing fiber is lower for the FL source, yielding about 2 MHz less than that of the DFB laser, indicating higher temperature/strain resolution. The experimental results are in good agreement with the numerical simulations.展开更多

With the 31-bit simplex code, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) has 3.5-dB enhancement with the same single pulse traces, accordant with the theoretical analysis. The frequency fluctuation for simplex codes is 14.01 MHz less than that for a single pulse as to 4-m spatial resolution. A broadband low sidelobe beamforming scheme in time domain is proposed in this paper. The first step of this scheme is to delay the outputs of each element in the acoustic array by a tapped-delay-line (TDL) to accomplish the integer part of the time delay need to form a beam. Then, finite impulse response (FIR) digital filters are used to implement the fractional part of the time delay. The weighting coefficients for all array elements at different frequencies to realize the low sidelobe beams are also implemented with the FIR digital filters. Finally, the outputs of the digital filters are summed up to yield the time domain beam output. The design of low sidelobe beam pattern and that of the FIR digital filters are two crucial technical issues in this beamforming procedure. The low sidelobe beams of each sub-band are designed using the optimized beam synthesis approach based on the principle of MVDR beamforming. An improved adaptive approach are used for the design of FIR digital filters, and the design requirements of these filters were specified by the weights of low sidelobe beams of each sub-band over the broad frequency band. Results of computer simulation for a twelve-element arc array show that the beamforming scheme is very effective in forming low sidelobe broadband beam.展开更多

However, due to the sensitivity to the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the inversion accuracy of the traditional singular value decomposition (SVD) inversion method reduces with a decrease of SNR. In order to enhance the inversion accuracy and improve robustness of the inversion method to the SNR, an improved inversion method, based on damping factor and spectrum component residual correction, is proposed in this study. The numerical inversion results show that the oscillation of the RTS derived from the SVD method increased with a decrease of SNR, which makes it impossible to get accurate inversion components. However, the SNR has little influence on inversion components of the improved method, and the RTS has high inversion accuracy and robustness. Moreover, RTS derived from core sample data is basically in accord with the pore-size distribution curve, and the RTS derived from the actual induced polarization logging data is smooth and continuous, which indicates that the improved method is practicable.展开更多

The boundary value problem is solved by the NURBS (non-uniform rational B-spline) higher-order panel method, in which a time-domain Green function is employed. The energy dissipation is modeled by changing the boundary condition on solid boundaries. Model experiments are carried out in a partially filled rectangular tank with forced horizontal motion. Sloshing-induced internal pressures and horizontal force obtained numerically and experimentally are compared with each other. It is observed that the present energy dissipation approximation can help produce a fair agreement between experimental forces and those of numerical simulations.展开更多

Results of computer simulation for a twelve-element arc array show that the beamforming scheme is very effective in forming low sidelobe broadband beam.

文摘Relaxation time spectra (RTS) derived from time domain induced polarization data (TDIP) are helpful to assess oil reservoir pore structures. Moreover, RTS derived from core sample data is basically in accord with the pore-size distribution curve, and the RTS derived from the actual induced polarization logging data is smooth and continuous, which indicates that the improved method is practicable.

文摘This paper proposes a new approximation to energy dissipation in time domain simulation of sloshing waves by use of a linear potential theory. It is observed that the present energy dissipation approximation can help produce a fair agreement between experimental forces and those of numerical simulations.
文摘In the paper, a comprehensive numerical study on the moored system is performed in time domain. The moored system, which is composed of the floating body sub system and the mooring line sub system, is calculated as a whole system by coupling. A time domain method is applied to the analysis of the mooring line sub system, and at the same time, an indirect time domain method translated from frequency domain to time domain is developed to calculate the floating body sub system. In the end, an FPSO vessel is calculated as a numerical example by the present method. A comparison of the result of the model test and that of the numerical method indicates that the present method is exact and effective.
