Xinqiao Gully is located in the area of the 2008 Wenchuan M_(s)8.0 earthquake in Sichuan province,China.Based on the investigation of the 2023"6-26"Xinqiao Gully debris flow event,this study assessed the eff...Xinqiao Gully is located in the area of the 2008 Wenchuan M_(s)8.0 earthquake in Sichuan province,China.Based on the investigation of the 2023"6-26"Xinqiao Gully debris flow event,this study assessed the effectiveness of the debris flow control project and evaluated the debris flow hazards.Through field investigation and numerical simulation methods,the indicators of flow intensity reduction rate and storage capacity fullness were proposed to quantify the effectiveness of the engineering measures in the debris flow event.The simulation results show that the debris flow control project reduced the flow intensity by41.05%to 64.61%.The storage capacity of the dam decreases gradually from upstream to the mouth of the gully,thus effectively intercepting and controlling the debris flow.By evaluating the debris flow of different recurrence intervals,further measures are recommended for managing debris flow events.展开更多

The existence of bird markets undoubtedlyposes a threat to the population of wild birds. Thegeographical location of Beijing is paramount to themigratory birds. The species of birds are rich in varietyand its quantity is large in scale. In addition, the birdmarket in old town Beijing has a long history - since theQing Dynasty, it has been the main bird market in thecity. Therefore, a survey of the major bird markets inthe city is highly representative. This study investigatedthe types, quantities, and prices of wild birds tradedin several major bird markets in Beijing from July16 to July 18, 2019. Data analysis and collation werealso conducted in this study. The results of the surveypresented 26 kinds of wild birds, with a total tradingvolume of an estimated 253. A ground magnetic survey was carried out to investigate the presence of iron ore at a location (Lat. 7.99883°N to Lat. 7.99933°N, Long. 3.57900°E to Long. 3.57990°E) in Iseyin, Oyo State, South-wes...A ground magnetic survey was carried out to investigate the presence of iron ore at a location (Lat. 7.99883°N to Lat. 7.99933°N, Long. 3.57900°E to Long. 3.57990°E) in Iseyin, Oyo State, South-western Nigeria. Ten magnetic traverses each 100 m long at a separation of 5 m were run West-East. Magnetic intensity was taken at intervals of 10 m along each traverse line using the proton precession magnetometer (G-856 AX). The measured magnetic field data were corrected for drift and were presented as profiles. The profiles were interpreted by calculating the depth to the top of anomalies. The data obtained were used to construct magnetic anomaly maps in 2D and 3D. The magnetic survey results delineated this location into some high and low magnetic field intensity regions. The regions of high magnetic field anomaly indicated the presence of materials with high susceptibility which was suspected to be iron compounds. The quantitative and qualitative analyses on interpretations of field data collected were given, while these results provided values for the total component measurements of ground magnetic anomaly that widely ranged between a maximum positive peak result of 8 nT and to a minimum negative peak result of —6 nT. Using Peter’s half slope technique, depth to the basement was assessed, which actually provided a maximum depth to basement of 6.25 m. From the knowledge of the geology of the area and also, the magnetic survey employed information, therefore, we can finally conclude that, the study area is under laid by geologic structures which favour the accumulation of iron-ore minerals deposit at Oke-Aro area in Iseyin.展开更多

The purpose of this study is to estimate the volume of cybercrime in Japan and identify its characteristics based on the result of cybercrime victimization survey conducted by the study group for cybercrime of Nihon University （NU） in 2016. The study group obtained a cybercrime victimization rate of 5.36% and concluded that cybercrime victimization in Japan is quite serious comparing with other survey results and crime statistics. Furthermore, the study group explored how to figure out cybercrime victimization more precisely based on characteristics of cybercrime obtained by this survey and proposed a couple of appropriate measures to cope with cybercrime.展开更多
