Universality is one of the essential characteristics of human rights, but there is a substantive difference between idealism and realism in understanding the concept of universality of human rights. The concepts of radical universality and strong universality based on the concept of natural human rights are too idealistic and thus have a high risk of being alienated into a tool of international re-pression in practice. On the contrary, the theory on the subjectivity of human rights can effectively defuse this risk brought about by radical universality and strong universality. Advocating a transition from the universality of human rights to the subjectivity of human rights not only keeps in line with the actual construction process of international human rights, but can also effectively interpret the practical difficul-ties in the realization process of international human rights. Therefore, it can be used as another alternative theory on human rights beyond the theory of natural human rights. 展开更多

A quadrature mixer with a shared transconductor stage is analyzed, including voltage conversion gain, linearity, noise figure, and image rejection. The analysis indicates it has better performance than a conventional Gilbert mixer pair in commutating mode. A quadrature down-conversion mixer based on this topology is designed and optimized for an ultra high frequency RFID reader. Operating in the 915MHz ISM band, the presented quadrature mixer measures a conversion gain of 12.5dB,an IIP3 of 10dBm, an IIP2 of 58dBm, and an SSB noise figure of 17.6riB. The chip was fabricated in a 0. 18μm 1P6M RF CMOS process and consumes only 3mA of current from a 1.8V power supply. 展开更多

Translation is an activity aimed at transferring the source language to the target language, related to many aspects involving culture, society, history and so on.The translator plays a critical role in translation practice.Xu Jun considers"translator’s subjectivity should be reflected to be artistic personal consciousness in translated works."Translator’s differences in age, gender, personal traits, educational level and other aspects make translation artistry completely divergent. Therefore, translator’s subjectivity shoulders great significances on the success of literary translation, which isn’t arbitrary, out of control, must be conducted in line with essence of the original work. This paper focuses on the gender difference of translator’s subjectivity in literary translation, hoping to find a way of eliminating the influence of it in the translation work. 展开更多

Science and technology translation involves various industries and professions, with its own system of terminology and unique language features. For a translator, who is not a professional scientist or technician,it seems to be difficult to do science and technology translation accurately and properly.Consequently,it is necessary for the translator to give play to his subjectivity when translating science and technology documents or related interpretation:searching for related data to replenish necessary professional knowledge, consulting with professional technicians actively to clarify the jargon and common sayings, and thinking critically to scrutiny the source text. 展开更多

Linguistic subjectivity is pervasive in almost all the utterances.Language without speaker's affect, judgment and view point doesn't exist.Idioms constitute one important part of the language and culture.Knowing a language includes knowing idioms in that language.Variation is one important aspect to idiom.Different from ordinary phrases, idioms tend to be frozen in form and meaning and don't allow change in structure and meaning. However, variation is one important aspect to idiom. The words of some idioms can be moved orsubsti tuted by other words. The syntactic structure of idioms can be altered. Some idioms function as normal sequence of grammatical words. They have changes in tense and aspect. All these changes contribute to the creation of idiom variation.Speakers create new idiom out of the original ones by modifying the original idiom to convey extra meanings.Idiom variations are the results of people's creative use of language. 展开更多

The invisibility was even taken as one of the standards of a good translator. However, great change happens, especially after the"culture turn"in translation study and the role of the translators has been laid emphasis on. This kind of sharp change has led to two extreme thoughts on this issue: scholars choose either total invisibility or complete subjectivity. This paper puts forward an inter-subjective system, in which the subjectivity should be emphasized only with constraints. The other subjects in the inter-subjective system contribute to the restriction of the subjectivity of the translator during the translation process.By writing this paper, the author wishes to present a comprehensive and balanced way of understanding translators' subjectivity. Therefore, no matter analyzing the translation process or evaluating translation products, people will be more objective towards the role of translators. 展开更多

This paper makes an investigation on the constructivist point of view towards learning and teaching from the perspective of subjectivity and intersubjectivity. The process of learning and teaching is conducted by both groups, learners and teachers. Therefore, the intersubjectivity between learners and teachers play an important role. The learner-centered approach in teaching not only weakens teachers 'role, but also is not good for the development of learners'subjectivity. 展开更多

AIM: To determine the performance of novice readers (4^th year medical students) for detecting capsule endoscopy findings. METHODS: Ten capsule endoscopy cases of small bowel lesions were administered to the readers. Gold standard findings were pre-defined by gastroenterologists. Ten gold standard "targets" were identified among the 10 cases. Readers were given a 30-min overview of Rapid Reader software and instructed to mark any potential areas of abnormalities. A software program was developed using SAS to analyze the thumbnailed findings. RESULTS: The overall sensitivity for detecting the gold standard findings was 80%. As a group, at least 5 out of 10 readers detected each gold standard finding per recording. All the gold standard targets were identified when the readers' results were combined. Incidental finding/false positive rate ranged between 8.2-59.8 per reader. CONCLUSION: A panel of medical students with minimal endoscopic experience can achieve high sensitivity in detecting lesions on capsule endoscopy. A group of novice readers can pre-screen recordings to thumbnail potential areas of small bowel lesions for further review. These thumbnails must be reviewed to determine the clinical relevance. Further studies are ongoing to assess other cohorts. 展开更多

The translation activity is a process of the interlinguistic transmission of information realized by the information encoding and decoding.Encoding and decoding, cognitive practices operated in objective contexts, are inevitably of selectivity ascribing to the restriction of contextual reasons. The translator as the intermediary agent connects the original author(encoder)and the target readers(decoder),shouldering the dual duties of the decoder and the encoder, for which his subjectivity is irrevocably manipulated by the selectivity of encoding and decoding. 展开更多

In this essay, the present author will mainly focus on some different versions of translation of Vanity Fair, and through comparison, some distinct superiority of Yangbi's version are shown. Hong Lou Meng is one of the four greatest classical novels of China. Since the appearance of the book, more and more people have been interested in it and have begun to study the book from different point of views. Then a new subject-redology, namely the study of the book- comes out. Hong Lou Meng, as representing the peak of the development in the tranditional chinese realistic novels, has been translated into many languages. Nowdays, there are only two versions of the translation that consists of the whole 120 chapters of the book: one is entitled A Dream of Red Mansions translated by Yang Hsien-yi and his wife Gladys Yang; the one with the title The Story of the Stone is translated by David Hawkes and John Minford. From the view of culture, the book Hong Lou Meng is a great collection of chinese traditional culture, and it reflects the tradition, the religion, the festivals, the tea culture, and the medicine culture and as well as the opera and poem s of chines people. But viewing the translation versions, different people have different translations to the same culture elements. This paper, beginning from this point, makes a first study about the translatiuon subjectivity sense, that leads to this translation differences. 展开更多
