The visualization techniques were explored for power quality monitoring.And remote visualization solutions were proposed for highspeed rail power quality monitoring.Taking the Beijing-Shanghai highspeed rail power monitoring as a study case,a remote visualization client,based on our proposed solutions,was developed for high-speed rail power quality monitoring to efficiently support power quality data analysis of the electricity business.The solutions collected data from monitoring stations deployed along the high-speed rail route and visualized the data set with a variety of visualization technologies to alert the specific stations of catastrophic events.The proposed solutions have been proved to be effective in supporting decision-making for the railway power scheduling and providing diagnosis information for quickly spotting any possible runtime failure in operation. 展开更多

Gas metal arc welding(GMAW)is also referred as the metal inert gas(MIG)welding which is a process of welding done by the formation of an electric arc between the consumable wire electrode and the workpiece.Through the welding process,a continuous flow of inert gas is supplied,and it avoids the weld being subjected to react with atmospheric air.The process can be automatic or semi-automatic where the main input parameters like current and the voltage can be direct and constant,respectively.Not only the current and voltage the welding quality depends on some more input parameters such as arc gap,velocity,and temperature.In this paper,we explain about a setup which is capable of real-time monitoring of input parameters mentioned above and selecting the best MIG welding parameters for the mild steel.The setup is composed of several sensors and microcontrollers for the collection and the measurement of the input parameters.The samples were categorized according to the federate and the voltage adjustment of the selected welding machine.Then the final objective was to identify the samples of the weld with different parameter changes which are monitored through the system.For the analysis,the samples were subjected to tensile and hardness tests,and microstructure tests to find the dependence of the input parameters which effect for the weld quality.Finally,the experimental results verified the effectiveness of the system for the selection of the quality weld. 展开更多

The conventional quality control method of core rockfill dam construction exhibit difficulty controlling compaction parameters accurately or ensuring construction quality. This is because it is easily influenced by human behavior or lack of adequate management. We therefore establish the timely monitoring indexes and control criteria of compaction processes by considering the characteristics and quality requirements of high core rockfill dam construction. Based on the established indexes and criteria, integrating GPS, GPRS and PDA technologies, a real-time compaction quality monitoring method is proposed. The relevant key techniques are proposed as well, including automatic collection of information and a graphic algorithm for rolling-process visualization. By the proposed method and techniques, a real-time monitoring system is provided to realize the precise automatic online entire-process monitoring of compaction parameters, including compaction pass, rolling trajectory, running speed of roller, vibration status and rolled pavement thickness. The application of the Nuozhadu project shows that the proposed system can control compaction parameters effectively and ensure better construction quality. Therefore, it might become a new way towards construction quality control of high core rockfill dam. 展开更多

Research works of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) applications and its constraints solutions occupy wide area around the world and attract many researchers. In this paper, an important one of environmental WSN applications is presented that is the water monitoring applications. An efficient approach for monitoring and controlling water parameters in real-time is implemented utilizing merging between WSN and designed simple workstation. For implementation simplicity, two water parameters (pH and temperature) are monitored and controlled in the proposed approach. Most of past work of water monitoring presented different proposed monitoring scenarios for different water parameters only. This research work utilizes the concept of interactive WSN nodes. The interactive nodes interact with the monitored water parameters to control its value. In the base station, the collected data is analyzed and the real-time value of the monitored parameters appears on the designed Graphic User Interface (GUI). The GUI is designed using the Matlab program. Through the GUI, the operator can switch the control between automatic and manual. ZigBee module is used for implementing the wireless communications between the nodes and the workstation. Due to the cost and simplicity, two sensors only are used in the proposed approach. Different real-time experiments are performed to test and measure the effectiveness and performance of the presented approach. These experiments reveal that the presented approach is effective for water treatment and efficient more than the past proposed water monitoring scenarios. 展开更多

A multi-parameters monitoring system based on wireless network was set up to achieve remote real-time monitoring of aquaculture water quality,in order to improve the quality of aquaculture products and solve such problems as being difficult in wiring and high costs in current monitoring system.In the system solar cells and lithium cells were used for power supply.The YCS-2000 dissolved oxygen sensor,pH electrode,Pt1000 temperature sensor and ammonia nitrogen sensor were used to monitor the parameters of aquaculture water quality;STM32F103 chip was used for data processing;Zigbee and GPRS modules were used for data transmission to the remote monitoring center,where the data were stored and displayed.The system was connected with aerator to realize automatic control of dissolved oxygen concentration.The test results showed high confidence level of data transmission with a packet loss rate of 0.43%.Therefore,the system could fulfill the real-time remote monitoring of aquaculture water quality and had great practical significance in reduction of labor intensity,improvement of quality of aquatic products and protection of water environment. 展开更多

The real-time monitoring and prediction system for quality attributes of jujube slices during the drying process was designed to solve the problem of destructive and inconvenient of the traditional quality detection method and realize quality online monitoring.Firstly,machine vision and automatic weighing were employed to monitor the color and moisture content changes of jujube slices in real-time.Secondly,correlation models between color parameter(a^(*)value)and nutritional quality attributes(vitamin C,reducing sugar)were established to predict vitamin C and reducing sugar content of jujube slices during the drying process.Finally,the upper computer monitoring software was integrated and designed based on LABVIEW virtual instrument,and the real-time monitoring system was tested and validated.Results showed that:the changing trends of color(L^(*),a^(*),and b^(*)values)monitored by the system were basically the same as the results detected by color difference meter,and the average errors of L^(*),a^(*),and b^(*)values were 0.93,0.52,and 0.73,respectively.The average relative error of moisture content between the system monitoring and manual static detection was 0.18%.The average error of vitamin C and reducing sugar content between the system prediction and manual detection were 50 mg/100 g in dry basis and 0.71g/100 g in dry basis,respectively.The current work can provide a useful reference for real-time monitoring of quality attributes of fruits and vegetables during the drying process. 展开更多

The Real-Time Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)Precise Positioning Service(RTPPS)is recognized as the most promising system by providing precise satellite orbit and clock correc-tions for users to achieve centimeter-level positioning with a stand-alone receiver in real-time.Although the products are available with high accuracy almost all the time,they may occasionally suffer from unexpected significant biases,which consequently degrades the positioning perfor-mance.Therefore,quality monitoring at the system-level has become more and more crucial for providing a reliable GNSS service.In this paper,we propose a method for the monitoring of realtime satellite orbit and clock products using a monitoring station network based on the Quality Control(QC)theory.The satellites with possible biases are first detected based on the outliers identified by Precise Point Positioning(PPP)in the monitoring station network.Then,the corresponding orbit and clock parameters with temporal constraints are introduced and esti-mated through the sequential Least Square(LS)estimator and the corresponding Instantaneous User Range Errors(IUREs)can be determined.A quality indicator is calculated based on the IUREs in the monitoring network and compared with a pre-defined threshold.The quality monitoring method is experimentally evaluated by monitoring the real-time orbit and clock products generated by GeoForschungsZentrum(GFZ),Potsdam.The results confirm that the problematic satellites can be detected accurately and effectively with missed detection rate 4×10^(-6) and false alarm rate 1:2×10^(-5).Considering the quality alarms,the PPP results in terms of RMS of positioning differences with respect to the International GNSS Service(IGS)weekly solution in the north,east and up directions can be improved by 12%,10%and 27%,respectively. 展开更多

Automated monitoring and warning solution for concrete placement and vibration workmanship quality issues

Placing and vibrating concrete are vital activities that affect its quality.The current monitoring method relies on visual and time-consuming feedbacks by project managers,which can be subjective.With this method,poor workmanship cannot be detected well on the spot;rather,the concrete is inspected and repaired after it becomes hardened.To address the problems of retroactive quality control measures and to achieve real-time quality assurance of concrete operations,this paper presents a monitoring and warning solution for concrete placement and vibration workman-ship quality.Specifically,the solution allows for collecting and compiling real-time sensor data related to the work-manship quality and can send alerts to project managers when related parameters are out of the required ranges.This study consists of four steps:(1)identifying key operational factors(KOFs)which determine acceptable workmanship of concrete work;(2)reviewing and selecting an appropriate positioning technology for collecting the data of KOFs;(3)designing and programming modules for a solution that can interpret the positioning data and send alerts to project managers when poor workmanship is suspected;and(4)testing the solution at a certain construction site for validation by comparing the positioning and warning data with a video record.The test results show that the monitoring performance of concrete placement is accurate and reliable.Follow-up studies will focus on developing a communication channel between the proposed solution and concrete workers,so that feedbacks can be directly delivered to them. 展开更多

为适应连续监控下土石坝施工中对碾压参数的控制要求,提出将行车速度持续超速时间、激振力持续不达标时间、压实厚度及碾压遍数合格率作为施工全仓面碾压参数的控制指标;并在分析各碾压参数与心墙坝料压实度之间相关性的基础上,建立了... 为适应连续监控下土石坝施工中对碾压参数的控制要求,提出将行车速度持续超速时间、激振力持续不达标时间、压实厚度及碾压遍数合格率作为施工全仓面碾压参数的控制指标;并在分析各碾压参数与心墙坝料压实度之间相关性的基础上,建立了碾压遍数、压实厚度、料性参数(坝料含水率和级配)与压实度的多元回归模型;进而提出了满足现行规范要求的坝料压实质量所对应的、基于Monte-Carlo法的碾压遍数合格率控制标准的确定方法。工程实例分析表明,遵循所提出的碾压参数控制标准,心墙区试坑检验的坝料压实度均满足设计要求,从而为连续监控下土石坝碾压质量的控制提供了有效途径。 展开更多

为了解决粗粒土路基压实质量较难控制的问题,在分析了已有连续压实质量控制方法的基础上,提出了以连续测试路基结构抗力变化信息为特色的动力学监控方法。根据压实机具与路基结构相互作用的动力学分析,以振动压路机为测试对象,采用系统... 为了解决粗粒土路基压实质量较难控制的问题,在分析了已有连续压实质量控制方法的基础上,提出了以连续测试路基结构抗力变化信息为特色的动力学监控方法。根据压实机具与路基结构相互作用的动力学分析,以振动压路机为测试对象,采用系统识别原理和动态测试技术,通过对压实机具与路基结构相互作用的连续测试,得到了能反映结构压实状态变化的抗力信息。以路基结构在形成过程中抗力的变化来评价压实状态的变化,实现了在压实过程中连续实时的质量监控。该方法不同于国外流行的压实计谐波比的评价方法,适用范围更广,现场操作方便,更适用于粗粒土的压实质量监控。 展开更多
