The disease provokes important memory and cognitive impairment, eventually causing individuals to forget th... Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, affecting nearly 9.9 million new people every year. The disease provokes important memory and cognitive impairment, eventually causing individuals to forget their loved ones and rendering them completely dependent on their caretakers. Alzheimer’s patients typically experience more negative emotions, such as frustration and apathy, than healthy older adults. There is currently no cure for the disease. Our research group explores how the integration of virtual reality (VR) and an EEG-based intelligent agent in music therapy can alleviate psychological and cognitive symptoms of the disease. We propose a theory explaining how, through activation of the brain reward system, music can reduce negative emotions, increase positive emotions and as a result increase performance on cognitive tasks. The results of our experimental study concord with our theory: emotional states of participants are improved, as per recorded through EEG, and performances on memory tasks show improvement following the intervention. We believe that the combination of EEG brain assessment, VR and music therapy is a promising method for emotional states and cognitive symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. 展开更多

Emergence of Objective Reality in an Irreversible Friend Thought Experiment 被引量:1

Recently some photon models of a Wigner’s friend experiment have led investigators to suggest that objective reality does not exist, and to publish articles with such claims. The public is not equipped to evaluate the severe limitations of these experiments. The separation of Wigner from the experiment and use of only reversible coherent processes for the friend allow operations that are not possible in ordinary reality according to the latest quantum research. We suggest directly testing the implied claim that objective reality, including incoherent objects with irreversible non-destructive memory, can be held in superposition. We suspect that it will fail, but provide for a graduated approach that may discover something about the conditions for superposition collapse. To this end, we design a thought experiment to model the objective world, investigating under what conditions experimenters in the same world (ensemble member) will be able to record a result and find it does not appear to change. This is not an investigation of hidden variables. To model the objective world, incoherent and irreversible processes must be included. To test for superposition, coherence has to be established. These seem to present a contradiction. The thought experiment suggests new places to look other than size for the origin of objective reality, casts doubt on the Many-Worlds interpretation, and provides a method of testing it. 展开更多

In Newton’s classical physics, space and time are treated as absolute, independent quantities and can be discussed separately. In Special Relativity, Einstein proved that space and time are relative and dependent and therefore must not be treated separately. Minkowski adopted four-dimensional space-time frames (4-d s-t frames), which indirectly revealed the dependency of space and time with the addition of a constraint for an event interval. We are not able to visualize 4-d s-t frames. Since space and time are inseparable, three-dimensional space-time frames (3-d s-t frames) can be constructed by embedding time into space to directly show the interdependency of space and time. Time contraction and length contraction can also be depicted graphically using 3-d s-t frames. We have much better understanding reality of space and time in 3-d s-t frames. This will lead to Contextual Reality for better understanding the universe. 展开更多

《大学计算机基础》课程是该校非专业本科生必修公共课,其中硬件知识抽象难懂,加上资金、场地和设备等原因,大部分学生又无法亲自动手实验,使得硬件教学难以取得好的效果,这个问题长期以来困扰着老师和同学们。有鉴于此,从软件角度着眼... 《大学计算机基础》课程是该校非专业本科生必修公共课,其中硬件知识抽象难懂,加上资金、场地和设备等原因,大部分学生又无法亲自动手实验,使得硬件教学难以取得好的效果,这个问题长期以来困扰着老师和同学们。有鉴于此,从软件角度着眼,利用3ds Max制作计算机硬件三维模型,导入Virtools虚拟现实软件中,建立世界坐标系下的虚拟互动实验场景,开发单机运行或基于B/S的网络虚拟平台,使所有学生使用鼠标、键盘即可在虚拟场景中模拟安装计算机硬件的过程。系统初步实现后,为了测试可行性,将其安装在大学计算机教学部实验机房,通过一段时间测试,学生反映在虚拟环境下操作简便、实用,能够反复操作。对以前那些抽象的硬件,一目了然,非常便于学习。由此可见,三维虚拟现实系统的开发在学生课程实验中大有作为。 展开更多

The accuracy of the present flatness pattern recognition is limited and the shape defects cannot be reflected intuitively. In order to improve it, a novel method via T-S cloud inference network optimized by genetic algorithm(GA) is proposed. T-S cloud inference network is constructed with T-S fuzzy neural network and the cloud model. So, the rapid of fuzzy logic and the uncertainty of cloud model for processing data are both taken into account. What's more, GA possesses good parallel design structure and global optimization characteristics. Compared with the simulation recognition results of traditional BP Algorithm, GA is more accurate and effective. Moreover, virtual reality technology is introduced into the field of shape control by Lab VIEW, MATLAB mixed programming. And virtual flatness pattern recognition interface is designed.Therefore, the data of engineering analysis and the actual model are combined with each other, and the shape defects could be seen more lively and intuitively. 展开更多

The present work investigates the application of virtual reality(VR)technology to neurorehabilitation.By consulting a wealth of data,the advantages of VR in neurorehabilitation are introduced,followed by the application status of VR in the rehabilitation of stroke patients,Parkinson’s patients,mental and psychological diseases.Besides,many research experiments on the application of VR technology in rehabilitation medicine at the present stage are investigated.The results indicate that compared with traditional balance training,the VR-based neurological rehabilitation training method can more effectively ease the tilt degree and strengthen the trunk control ability and balance function of patients with post-stroke tilt syndrome.When the effect of traditional rehabilitation training on the gait and balance of Parkinson’s patients is not good enough,VR-based rehabilitation training can at least be used as an alternative therapy.Moreover,VR games have made great breakthroughs in promoting limb rehabilitation and brain injury rehabilitation,which is of incredible benefit to those with motor and activity disorders.It is also beneficial to the treatment and recovery of mental disorders of patients with nerve injury.Although VR still has limitations such as high cost and technical breakthrough bottleneck,it has great advantages in relieving pain,enhancing interest,and recovering patients’mental health in neurological rehabilitation training. 展开更多
