Based on the assumption that similar persons ha...A new method to extract person-independent expression feature based on higher-order singular value decomposition (HOSVD) is proposed for facial expression recognition. Based on the assumption that similar persons have similar facial expression appearance and shape, the person-similarity weighted expression feature is proposed to estimate the expression feature of test persons. As a result, the estimated expression feature can reduce the influence of individuals caused by insufficient training data, and hence become less person-dependent. The proposed method is tested on Cohn-Kanade facial expression database and Japanese female facial expression (JAFFE) database. Person-independent experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method over the existing methods.展开更多

The proportion of respondents willing...By the contingent value method, we studied the non-use value of wetland ecosystem service of Hongxing National Nature Reserve (HNNR) in Heilongjiang Pro- vince, northeast China. The proportion of respondents willing to pay (WTP) for protection of HNNR was 63 %. The WTP ratio was affected by geographical area, contact nature, personal preferences, and familiar degree of the respondents. The WTP value was affected by age, education level and career of the respondents. The mainly reasons for people rejecting to pay for protecting HNNR were "I am not familiar to HNNR" and "I had no capacity for additional spending because of low income". Weighted average individual WTP value was CNY 59.26 Yuan ind.^-1 year^-1 for all the respondents with WTP. The total non-use ecosystem service value of HNNR was CNY 1430 million Yuan in 2013. The heritage value was highest followed by existence value and option value. From the high ecosystem service value in HNNR, it is very important to construct nature reserve for protecting natural ecosystems and human sustainable use of natural resources.展开更多

This paper presents an automatic recognition sys...The number of films is numerous and the film contents are complex over the Internet and multimedia sources. It is time consuming for a viewer to select a favorite film. This paper presents an automatic recognition system of film types. Initially, a film is firstly sampled as frame sequences. The color space, including hue, saturation,and brightness value(HSV), is analyzed for each sampled frame by computing the deviation and mean of HSV for each film. These features are utilized as inputs to a deep-learning neural network(DNN) for the recognition of film types. One hundred films are utilized to train and validate the model parameters of DNN. In the testing phase, a film is recognized as one of the five categories, including action, comedy, horror thriller, romance, and science fiction, by the trained DNN. The experimental results reveal that the film types can be effectively recognized by the proposed approach, enabling the viewer to select an interesting film accurately and quickly.展开更多

Therefore, in order to help decision makers make more reasonable decisions under uncertainty, it is necessary to measure the risks of international oil and gas projects. For this purpose, this paper constructs a probabilistic model that is based on the traditional economic evaluation model, and introduces value at risk(VaR) which is a valuable risk measure tool in finance, and applies Va R to measure the risks of royalty contracts, production share contracts and service contracts of an international oil and gas project. Besides, this paper compares the influences of different risk factors on the net present value(NPV) of the project by using the simulation results. The results indicate:(1) risks have great impacts on the project's NPV, therefore, if risks are overlooked, the decision may be wrong.(2) A simulation method is applied to simulate the stochastic distribution of risk factors in the probabilistic model. Therefore, the probability is related to the project's NPV, overcoming the inherent limitation of the traditional economic evaluation method.(3) VaR is a straightforward risk measure tool, and can be applied to evaluate the risks of international oil and gas projects. With the rapid development of deep learning technology,behavior recognition based on video streams has made great progress in recent years.However,there are also some problems that must be solved:(1)In order to improv...With the rapid development of deep learning technology,behavior recognition based on video streams has made great progress in recent years.However,there are also some problems that must be solved:(1)In order to improve behavior recognition performance,the models have tended to become deeper,wider,and more complex.However,some new problems have been introduced also,such as that their real-time performance decreases;(2)Some actions in existing datasets are so similar that they are difficult to distinguish.To solve these problems,the ResNet34-3DRes18 model,which is a lightweight and efficient two-dimensional(2D)and three-dimensional(3D)fused model,is constructed in this study.The model used 2D convolutional neural network(2DCNN)to obtain the feature maps of input images and 3D convolutional neural network(3DCNN)to process the temporal relationships between frames,which made the model not only make use of 3DCNN’s advantages on video temporal modeling but reduced model complexity.Compared with state-of-the-art models,this method has shown excellent performance at a faster speed.Furthermore,to distinguish between similar motions in the datasets,an attention gate mechanism is added,and a Res34-SE-IM-Net attention recognition model is constructed.The Res34-SE-IM-Net achieved 71.85%,92.196%,and 36.5%top-1 accuracy(The predicting label obtained from model is the largest one in the output probability vector.If the label is the same as the target label of the motion,the classification is correct.)respectively on the test sets of the HMDB51,UCF101,and Something-Something v1 datasets.展开更多
