Through the spring regulating pres-sure test, it concluded that for the pressure regulating valve with same spring mod-el, the outer pressure became smal er than the inlet pressure of the system and with the changes of inlet pressure, the outlet pressure remained almost the same, and that when inlet pressure was constant, the valve with smal er spring diameter had lower outlet pressure, indicating that the pressure regulating effect of the spring was more obvious with smal er diameter. 展开更多

For a water supply system with long-distance diversion pipelines, in addition to the water hammer problems that occur beyond pumps, the safety of the water diversion pipeline in front of pumps also deserves attention. In this study, a water hammer protection scheme combined with an overflow surge tank and a regulating valve was developed. A mathematical model of the overflow surge tank was developed, and an analytical formula for the height of the overflow surge tank was derived. Furthermore, a practical water supply project was used to evaluate the feasibility of the combined protection scheme and analyze the sensitivity of valve regulation rules. The results showed that the combined protection scheme effectively reduced the height of the surge tank, lessened the difficulties related to construction, and reduced the necessary financial investment for the project. The two-stage closing rule articulated as fast first and then slow could minimize the overflow volume of the surge tank when the power failure occurred, while the two-stage opening rule articulated as slow first and then fast could be more conducive to the safety of the water supply system when the pump started up. 展开更多

In the present study, the relationship between properties of different carbon materials and their impact on performance of VRLA (valve regulated lead acid) battery was studied. The material properties undertaken for the study are: surface area, conductivity and water absorption of the carbon. The electrode morphology revealed the uniform distribution of active material when high surface area carbon was added to NAM (negative active material). The porosity of the plate also exhibited changes with respect to type of carbon materials added. The study further revealed that, the addition of high surface area carbon (-1,400 m^2/g) improves the charge acceptance of the battery with higher loading. Further improvement in charge acceptance was observed with addition of graphite to higher surface area carbon. Nevertheless, the float current of the battery got affected due to graphite loading and found there was no impact on shelf life of the battery in all the cases. The study demonstrates the need for customized "carbon formulation" to obtain the maximum performance out of the battery. 展开更多

Through theoretical analysis of the HVD set start-up steadiness, the conclusions were obtained that the non-linearity of the pressure performance curve and dynamic pressure instability of the pilot-operated electro-hydraulic pressure relief valve, which is used for the HVD speed regulating purpose and usually works within micro flow-rate and low oil pressure state, are the main causes of the poor start-up steadiness. So a special speed regulating valve for HVD set is developed, with which the start-up steadiness of HVD set is much improved. 展开更多

A tortuous labyrinth passage consists of a series of right angle turns in a disk of high pressure control valve.In this paper,numerical simulations are made for the velocity and pressure distributions in this passage.It is shown that the “series passage” can induce a pressure dropping more effectively.The main function of the “series passage” is to induce a pressure dropping while the “parallel passage” is mainly to regulate the flow-rate.As a cross sectional area process,a series of reduction and expansion,the pressure will also see dropping and partial recovery,which is called the multistage pressure drop.By this way,the velocity can be controlled in a reasonable level anywhere in this tortuous labyrinth passage.With the fluid pressure dropping in a downwards serrated way,the pressure is higher than the local saturate vapor pressure,therefore,no cavitation is induced by the phase transition. 展开更多

The aim of this investigation is to define a model of an alternating current impedance response that can identify the state of health of a porous electrode due to the blocked diffusion effect. To identify and simulate different pore geometries, an analytical differential equations system was studied. Standard and low performance battery products were simulated by the model and validated with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) experimental data. The correlation between pore structure geometries and the related battery efficiency is also addressed. This investigation may clarify the possible reasons for low performance batteries. Identifying the benchmark pore geometry, parameters may be useful for the battery producers to improve the efficiency of their products. Various recovery methods are also included in this investigation to disperse the build-up of lead sulphate crystal that limits the electrolysis process in the low performance batteries. 展开更多
