Vibrational Spectroscopy of Pain Relievers: Traditional and Remote Raman Techniques

The application of vibrational spectroscopy in the pharmaceutical industry is widely investigated, from the quality assurance of the product during the production process control to the final products’ quality control and the authentication of products on the markets. This study focuses on non-contact and noninvasive detection and identification of pain-relievers at 1-5 meters standoff distances. The specimens analyzed include standard laboratory-grade active ingredients and commercially available pain relievers in powder, solid and liquid forms. All the remote measurements captured revealed the Raman signatures of the specimens, with varying peak intensities. To correlate the band intensities captured with the standoff distances between the laser source and the specimens, the intensity ratios of the two prominent peaks of the laboratory grade reference active ingredient (1607 and 1319 cm-1) normalized with 1319 cm-1 are used. The results of the study suggest the viability of standoff Raman spectroscopy for routine monitoring and identification of pharma-ceuticals, including counterfeit pain relievers.

Effect of Alpinia officinarum Hance alcohol extracts on primary dysmenorrheal

Objective:To study the effect of Alpinia officinarum Hance(A.officinarum) 80% alcohol extract on the primary dysmenorrhea.Methods:A.officinarum 80% alcohol extract were enriched by macroporous adsorption resins.Female mice of primary dysmenorrhea model were established by oxytocin induction; the effects of A.officinarum 80% alcohol extract on primary dysmenorrhea were observed by body twist method; and the homogenate level of prostaglandin F_(2α)(PGF_(2α)),prostaglandin E_2(PGE_2) and Ca^(2+) in the uterus were observed in oxytocin-induced female mice.Results:The writhing frequency of primary dysmenorrhea mice was significantly decreased after treatment of A.officinarum 80% alcohol extract and the level of PGF_(2α),PGE_2 and Ca^(2+) in mice uterus was significantly decreased(P<0.05,P<0.01) in groups of mice treated with middle and high dosage of A.officinarum 80% alcohol extract compared with that of model group.Conclusions:These findings suggest that A.Officinarum 80% alcohol extract can significantly relieve primary dysmenorrhea.

Production Characteristics and the Control Factors of Surface Wells for Relieved Methane Drainage in the Huainan Mining Area

Based on the production data of a large number of surface drainage wells in the Huainan mining area,the present study shows that four types of typical production characteristics for relieved methane wells are recognized,of which the stable type for production and gas concentration is the most dominate,as determined by a comprehensive study on the volume and concentration of drained gases, as well as the stress changes of rocks influenced by mining.Some influence factors for the productive differences of the drainage wells were also been discussed.The results indicate that protective coal-seam mining has a significant effect on overlying strata,which promotes the development of pores and fractures of coal reservoirs for methane desorption and migration;however,the production and the stability of drainage wells are affected by deformation and damage of the overlying strata.The second distribution of strata stress is caused by mining engineering,and if the stress load is larger than the carrying capacity of the extraction well,the gas production would be influenced by the drainage well that has been damaged by rock movement.Furthermore,the case damage occurs first in the weak, lithologic interface by its special mechanical properties.The stability of drainage wells and the production status are also influenced by the different drilling techniques,uneven distribution of gas concentration,and combination of gob gas and methane from the protected layer.

Lanthanum Relieved Toxic Effects Caused by Nickel in Hydrocharis dubia B L. Backer Leaves

The paper briefly dealt with relieving toxic effects of La on high aquatic plant-Hydrocharis dubia B L. Backer growing in the solution containing different concentration of Ni. The results show that La can relieve the reduction of chlorophyll content, the accumulation of MDA(malondiadehyde) and the elevation of relative membrane penetrability (RMP). After adding 10 mg . L-1 La to the solution, the activities of SOD and CAT in the leaves of Hydrocharis dubia B L. Backer increases compared with those of the single treatment of Ni, while the activity of POD decreases. It reveals that la enhances the abilities of scavenging the activated oxygen in the plant and alleviates the damage to the membranes. The soluble protein content with Ni and La compound treatment is higher than that of single Ni does, and proline content is contrary to the soluble protein content. So La improves the resistance of Hydrocharis dubia B. L. Backer to the stress of Ni. However, La can aggravate the damage to the cells under the extremely high concentration of Ni treatment.

Local icariin application enhanced periodontal tissue regeneration and relieved local inflammation in a minipig model of periodontitis

Periodontitis is an inflammatory autoimmune disease. Treatment should alleviate inflammation, regulate the immune reaction and promote periodontal tissue regeneration. Icariin is the main active ingredient of Epimedii Folium, and it is a promising compound for the enhancement of mesenchymal stem cell function, promotion of bone formation, inhibition of bone resorption, alleviation of inflammation and regulation of immunity. The study investigated the effect of icariin on periodontal tissue regeneration in a minipig model of periodontitis. The minipig model of periodontitis was established. Icariin was injected locally. The periodontal clinical assessment index, a computed tomography(CT) scan, histopathology and enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay(ELISA)were used to evaluate the effects of icariin. Quantitative analysis results 12 weeks post-injection demonstrated that probing depth,gingival recession, attachment loss and alveolar bone regeneration values were(3.72 ± 1.18) mm vs.(6.56 ± 1.47) mm,(1.67 ± 0.59)mm vs.(2.38 ± 0.61) mm,(5.56 ± 1.29) mm vs.(8.61 ± 1.72) mm, and(25.65 ± 5.13) mm3 vs.(9.48 ± 1.78) mm3 in the icariin group and0.9% NaCl group, respectively. The clinical assessment, CT scan, and histopathology results demonstrated significant enhancement of periodontal tissue regeneration in the icariin group compared to the 0.9% NaCl group. The ELISA results suggested that the concentration of interleukin-1 beta(IL-1β) in the icariin group was downregulated compared to the 0.9% NaCl group, which indicates that local injection of icariin relieved local inflammation in a minipig model of periodontitis. Local injection of icariin promoted periodontal tissue regeneration and exerted anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory function. These results support the application of icariin for the clinical treatment of periodontitis.

CLINICAL OBSERVATIONS ON 278 CASES OF CERVICAL SPONDYLOPATHY TREATED WITH ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE AND MASSOTHERAPY

From Dec. 1990 to Dec. 1993, 278 cases of cervical spondylopathy were treated with electroacupuncture and massotherapy. The cure rate was 82.7%; but in the control group, it was only 61%, indicating that electroacupuncture may enhance the cure rate (P【 0.05). Of the 278 cases treated by three to five sessions, the pain and numbness disappeared in about 96% of the patients.

Microstructure and properties of S30403+Q345R roll-bonded clad steel plate for pressure vessels

To meet the demand of the domestic pressure vessel industry for roll-bonded clad steel plates, Baosteel has developed an S30403 ＋ Q345R roll-bonded clad steel plate. Comprehensive inspections of the composition, microstructure, and properties are made to systematically evaluate the steel plate in the normalized and normalized ＋ stress relieved states. The results show the cladding interface of the S30403 ＋ Q345R roll-bonded clad steel plate has high shear strength, the base metal has good properties, and the mechanical properties of the steel plate head and tail are uniform. The performance is fully consistent with the technical requirements of the roll-bonded clad steel plate for pressure vessels.

Clinical Analysis of Dispelling Wind,Eliminating Lung and Relieving Cough Combined with Western Medicine in the Treatment of Cough Variant Asthma in Children

Objective:This study mainly explores the clinical effect of dispelling wind,eliminating lung and relieving cough combined with western medicine in the treatment of cough variant asthma.Methods:80 children with cough variant asthma accepted by our hospital from January 2018 to December 2020 were randomly selected for the study and divided into two groups.One group was the reference group(40 cases)treated with procaterol hydrochloride tablets and montelukast sodium,and the other group was the research group(40 cases)・The method of eliminating wind,eliminating lung and relieving cough was combined with procaterol hydrochloride tablets and montelukast sodium to observe and compare the curative effects of the two groups.Results:There was no significant difference in TCM symptom score and eosinophil(EOS)count between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05);After treatment,the TCM symptom scores of coughs,pharyngeal itching,expectoration,nasal congestion and nasal itching in the research group were lower than those in the reference group,and the EOS count was lower than that in the reference group(P<0.05);The effective rate of research group was higher than that of reference group(P<0.05).Conclusions:For children with cough variant asthma,Qufeng Sufei cough relieving method combined with procaterol hydrochloride and montelukast sodium can improve children's symptoms and reduce eosinophil count.

镇痛泵硬膜外腔连续注药在前列腺术后的应用

目的：探讨镇痛泵硬膜外腔连续注药在前列腺术后的应用效果。方法：对我院30例良性前列腺增生患者术后使用镇痛泵硬膜外腔连续注药观察疗效。结果：术后3d内只有1例需用肌注镇痛药加强镇痛，其余病例均未使用镇痛药和解痉药，无明显切口疼痛及尿意或便后急迫感，无1例出现严重继发性出血。用药后胃肠功能一般在24～36h恢复，无腹胀、恶心、呕吐。原麻醉平面皮肤的痛、温觉明显减退，麻醉平面以外部分无明显变化。肢体运动、感觉均无改变，神经生理反射存在，未引出病理征。本组病例未出现臀、背部受压皮损表现，无硬膜外腔感染症状。结论：前列腺术后应用镇痛泵硬膜外腔连续注药镇痛效果良好，可预防膀胱痉挛及其收缩痛，减少严重性继发性出血，膀胱冲洗时间短，患者恢复快，因此镇痛泵硬膜外腔连续注药应在前列腺术后广泛应用。
