In black Africa their social representations remain strongly influenced by local belief systems. The general objective of this study was to understand the perceptions and representations of Ivorian parents vis-à-vis PDD. This was a mixed (qualitative and quantitative) prospective cross-sectional study with a descriptive aim that involved a sample of 49 parents. The sampling was of the qualitative type by multiple cases with reasoned choice by saturation. Our results showed that male parents were mostly aged between 40 - 49 years (48.98%) with a higher level of education (67.34%) while mothers were mostly aged between 30 - 39 (61.22%) and a higher level (30.61%). Autistic children were negatively perceived by their parents: either as a source of psychological suffering (82.85%), or as mysterious children who sacrificed their parents (44.66%), or as “bobo” children (mute children in common Ivorian language) (16.66%) or like rude children (13.34%). The supposed origin of the disorder according to the parents was mystical-religious (60.94%);natural (25%);hereditary (6.25%). In 6.25% of cases, PDD were assumed to be of unknown or iatrogenic origin attributable to vaccination (1.56%). 75.51% of parents said that in addition to conventional medical therapies, they also used traditional therapies. The use of this therapeutic alternative would be linked to the perceptions and beliefs that feed the socio-cultural representations of our respondents.展开更多

These spaces are exhausted up to the covering by spaces?G/H?with G = SL(n,R),H = GL(n-1,R)?. For Hermitian symmetric spaces G/K, canonical representations were introduced by Berezin and Vershik-Gelfand-Graev. They are unitary with respect to some invariant non-local inner product (the Berezin form). We consider canonical representations in a wider sense: we give up the condition of unitarity and let these representations act on spaces of distributions. For our spaces G/H, the canonical representations turn out to be tensor products of representations of maximal degenerate series and contragredient representations. We decompose the canonical representations into irreducible constituents and decompose boundary representations.展开更多

Our aim is to provide a precise description of mental functioning of adolescents with learning difficulties (LDs) in order to improve the knowledge of this kind of problems and consequently to get better therapeutic approaches. We focus on narrative representations and we study how these adolescents construct and build stories. We assess 40 adolescents through the use of two kind of tests: Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-III). In addition, we compare this group with another clinical sample of adolescents. In our sample, learning difficulties are not linked to lower cognitive level, but can be understood as a maturational gap. In the narratives of the adolescents with LDs, we find a typical adolescent narrative: In most cases, the protagonist starts from a position of dependence finally reaching a position of greater autonomy. There are significant differences between the males and females in our sample, which suggest a different mode of learning ability and disability for each sex.展开更多

First, according to Lefebvre, representations of space are created with violence for the purpose of accumulating capital. On the other hand, representational space is directly lived or affectively felt, opened up by inhabitants' imagination. In addition, Lefebvre points out that in abstract space, representational space will be invaded by representations of space. In The Bridge, Crane's affective experience with the Brooklyn Bridge or the subway indicates that he treats New York as a representational space. Besides, Crane expresses his concern for how capitalism has encroached on it. It would seem that Crane has followed Lefebvre's line of thinking in The Bridge. However, it is actually a specious analysis because both the Brooklyn Bridge and the subway are representations of space. And in this long poem, Crane feels the urban space through history, which plays a key role in creating representations of space. Thus, we can conclude that Crane is actually taking "a walk in between" in The Bridge. With his imagination, Crane has combined representations of space and representational space into his own poetic vision.展开更多

In this paper, we propose a novel deep learning algorithm combining unsupervised and supervised learning named deep belief network embedded with Softmax regress (DBNESR) as a natural source for obtaining additional, complementary hierarchical representations, which helps to relieve us from the complicated hand-crafted feature-design step. DBNESR first learns hierarchical representations of feature by greedy layer-wise unsupervised learning in a feed-forward (bottom-up) and back-forward (top-down) manner and then makes more efficient recognition with Softmax regress by supervised learning. As a comparison with the algorithms only based on supervised learning, we again propose and design many kinds of classifiers: BP, HBPNNs, RBF, HRBFNNs, SVM and multiple classification decision fusion classifier (MCDFC)—hybrid HBPNNs-HRBFNNs-SVM classifier. The conducted experiments validate: Firstly, the proposed DBNESR is optimal for face recognition with the highest and most stable recognition rates;second, the algorithm combining unsupervised and supervised learning has better effect than all supervised learning algorithms;third, hybrid neural networks have better effect than single model neural network;fourth, the average recognition rate and variance of these algorithms in order of the largest to the smallest are respectively shown as DBNESR, MCDFC, SVM, HRBFNNs, RBF, HBPNNs, BP and BP, RBF, HBPNNs, HRBFNNs, SVM, MCDFC, DBNESR;at last, it reflects hierarchical representations of feature by DBNESR in terms of its capability of modeling hard artificial intelligent tasks.展开更多

The project was developed in a public university, located in Mexico's northeast region; 19 students were part of the sample group. Two research tools were used to obtain data: survey and focus group. The project analyzed academic and environmental aspects, beyond the "ought to be", that affected the development and provided characteristics on the daily sociocultural reality of the students, with a view of the real environment of the students without "make-up". The project deepened into the analysis of the reading practices and not only the usual numeric indicators, which traditionally condemn the reading practices in Mexico. The results of this study showed that students read a lot more than what they and their teachers think they do, this taking into consideration electronic documents, general interest publications, and commercial magazines, among others.
