North China is the most important CBM accumulation area in China. The coal beds of the Upper Paleozoic Taiyuan and Shanxi formations have a stable distribution. The coal reservoir of target areas such as Jincheng, Yanquan-Shouyang, Hancheng, Liulin, etc. have good CBM-bearing characteristics, high permeability and appropriate reservoir pressure, and these areas are the preferred target areas of CBM developing in China. The coal reservoirs of Wupu, Sanjiaobei, Lu'an, Xinmi, Anyang-Hebi, Jiaozuo, Xinggong and Huainan also have as good CBM-bearing characteristics, but the physical properties of coal reservoirs vary observably. So, further work should be taken to search for districts with high pressure, high permeability and good CBM-bearing characteristics. Crustal stresses have severe influence on the permeability of coal reservoirs in North China. From west to east, the crustal stress gradient increases, while the coal reservoirs permeability decreases.展开更多

One of the plugs was calcite and the other was dolomite with anhydrite nodules. The cyclic pressure exerted on the samples increased from 13.79 MPa to 27.58 MPa in six steps, and the variations in petrophysical properties of the two samples at different pressure loading and unloading steps were counted and analyzed. The results show that the calcite sample decreases in porosity and permeability with the increase of pressure, which is consistent with the results from compression and shear wave velocity tests. In the dolomite sample, the decreasing trend was not observed;fluctuations of compressive and shear velocities were observed during the loading stage, which may be due to different geometries of the pores and the porosity variation in the sample. Understanding the variation of carbonate petrophysical properties with pressure is helpful for optimizing reservoir development scheme.展开更多

Moreover, both the waves velocities mentioned above are applied to the uncertainty analysis as well as the complexity investigation presented in the carbonate reservoirs. In this study, three wells of an Iranian oil field which its formation is the upper part of the Sarvak (Mishrif) has been studied. In accordance with the petrophysical interpretation of this oil field using Geo-log software, a rock physics model has been constructed based on Xu-Payne model (2009) using Hampson-Russel software to predict the elastic properties like P-wave and S-wave velocities as well as density. In the following, some synthetic seismic traces have been created based on the rock physics model using Hampson-Russel software to obtain the correlation coefficients of the seismic data with both the predicted and measured elastic properties. As results, the obtained correlation coefficients show that the predicted elastic properties by the rock physics model have higher quality than the measured elastic properties. In addition, the correlation coefficients of the predicted elastic properties in the well number 1, 2, and 3 have approximately increased by 19.6, 21.3, and 18.2 percent, respectively, in comparison to the correlation coefficients of the measured elastic properties. Therefore, the predicted elastic properties can be replaced with the low-quality measured elastic properties. Eventually, some templates have been created to accurate characterization the carbonate reservoir based on the rock physics model and also show the high-quality correlations between the rock physics model and the measured data.展开更多

The aim of the study was to integrate rock physics models and seismic inversion to improve the characterization of a selected reservoir using well-log and 3D seismic data sets. Seven reservoir sands were delineated using suite of logs from three wells. In this study, the sand 4 reservoir was selected for analysis. The result of petrophysical evaluation shows that the sand 4 reservoir is relatively thick (62 ft) with low water saturation (0.33), shale volume (0.11) and high porosity (0.32). These results indicate reservoir of good quality and producibility. Cross-plot of property pairs (acoustic impedance (Ip) vs. lambda-rho (λρ) and mu-rho (μρ) vs. lambda-rho (λρ) color-coded with reservoir properties reveals three distinct probable zones: hydrocarbon sand, brine sand and shale. Results show that low Ip, λρ and μρ associated with hydrocarbon charged sands correspond to low Sw and Vsh and high Ø. The integration of rock physics models and inverted rock attributes effectively delineated and improved understanding of already producing reservoirs, as well as other hydrocarbon charged sands of low Sw, Vsh, and high?Ø to the east of existing well locations, which indicate possible by-passed hydrocarbon pays. The results of this work can assist in forecasting hydrocarbon prospectivity and lessen chances of drilling dry holes in MUN onshore Niger delta field.展开更多

Their corresponding seismic responses are computed by seismic forward modeling for direct gas reservoir identification. The workflow provides us with the information about reservoir and seismic but just at the well. For real reservoirs, the reservoir parameters such as porosity, clay content, and thickness vary with location. So the information from traditional fluid substitution just at the well is limited. By assuming a rock physics model linking the elastic properties to porosity and mineralogy, we conducted seismic forward modeling and AVO attributes computation on a three-layer earth model with varying porosity, clay content, and formation thickness. Then we analyzed the relations between AVO attributes at wet reservoirs and those at the same but gas reservoirs. We arrived at their linear relations within the assumption framework used in the forward modeling. Their linear relations make it possible to directly conduct fluid substitution on seismic AVO attributes. Finally, we applied these linear relations for fluid substitution on seismic data and identified gas reservoirs by the cross-plot between the AVO attributes from seismic data and those from seismic data after direct fluid substitution.展开更多

Outcrops, well logs and seismic data have disclosed that three sedimentary facies can be identified for the formation: open platform, platform exposed shoal and restricted platform facies. During the early stage of deposition of the Feixianguan Formation, there existed a sedimentary framework all the same as the Late Permian one: open platform in the west, and platform exposed shoal, restricted platform and open platform eastwards. The gradual increase of the shoal area permitted eastward migration of the shoal facies. During the deposition of the third member of the Feixianguan Formation, the study area was invaded by temporary transgressions. Till the deposition of the fourth member of the formation, the study area was prevailed over the unified restricted platform deposits, as indicated by the sedimentary model for the typical carbonate platform shoal deposits. The reservoir rocks in the Feixianguan Formation consist mostly of solution opening dolostone, and the rock types are assembled by oolitic dolostone, residual oolitic dolostone and sucrosic residual oolitic medium- to coarse-grained dolostone. The deep and shallow dual laterologs show relatively high resistivity, clear amplitude differences and time difference saltation of acoustic waves in some intervals. The seismic responses are indicated by low-frequency and highly variable amplitudes and chaotic reflection configurations. The reservoir rocks are characterized by high porosity-high permeability and medium porosity-medium permeability, showing a marked correlation between porosity and permeability. Solution openings are extremely developed in the reservoir rocks, including cast pores, intergranular solution openings, intercrystal pores, intercrystal solution openings, solution openings (caves) and minute fissures. Macropores and coarse pore throats are common. The reservoir rocks are apparently controlled by sedimentary facies in distribution patterns. Vertically, they occur dominantly in the second and first members of the Feixianguan Formation, and laterally in the platform exposed shoals and restricted platforms, where good natural gas potential is expected.展开更多

The distinct differences between these basins and monotype basins are their discontinuous stratigraphic sedimentation, stratigraphic structure and stratigraphic stress-strain action over geological history. Based on the correlation of chronological age on structural sections, superimposed basins can be divided into five types in this study: (1) continuous sedimentation type superimposed basins, (2) middle and late stratigraphic superimposed basins, (3) early and late stratigraphic superimposed basins, (4) early and middle stratigraphic superimposed basins, and (5) long-term exposed superimposed basins. Multiple source-reservoir-caprock assemblages have developed in such basins. In addition, multi-stage hydrocarbon generation and expulsion, multiple sources, polycyclic hydrocarbon accumulation and multiple-type hydrocarbon reservoirs adjustment, reformation and destruction have occurred in these basins. The complex reservoirs that have been discovered widely in the superimposed basins to date have remarkably different geologic features from primary reservoirs, and the root causes of this are folding, denudation and the fracture effect caused by multiphase tectonic events in the superimposed basins as well as associated seepage, diffusion, spilling, oxidation, degradation and cracking. Based on their genesis characteristics, complex reservoirs are divided into five categories: (1) primary reservoirs, (2) trap adjustment type reservoirs, (3) component variant reservoirs, (4) phase conversion type reservoirs and (5) scale-reformed reservoirs.展开更多

Accelerated ageing tests including water stability test, temperature and humidity cycling test, soundness test and alkali resistance test are conducted with the objective to further research the property changes of CGN-(F+S) grout. Density, surface hardness, water penetration capacity, water permeability capacity, soluble salt, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) spectrum of these samples have been tested after accelerated ageing tests. The results show that densities of samples decrease, surface hardness, water penetration capacity and water permeability capacity of samples increase generally. Besides, soluble salt analysis, SEM and EDS results well corroborate the changes. Based on the results it can be concluded that property changes are most serious after temperature and humidity cycling test, followed by water stability, soundness and alkali resistance test in sequence. But in general, CGN-(F+S) still has good durability.展开更多

However, this influence is not well understood, raising an important problem in the effective development of petroleum reservoirs. This paper analyzes continental shelf margin delta reservoirs through core observation, cast thin section observation and reservoir physical property test. Some important scientific insights are obtained:(1) The presence of Cruziana ichnofacies, including Asterosoma, Ophiomorpha, Planolites, Skolithos, Thalassinoides, and other ichnofossils can be used to identify in subaqueous distributary channels, subaqueous levee, frontal sheet sand, abandoned river channels, crevasse channels, main channels and channel mouth bars. Considerable differences in the types of ichnofossils and the degree of bioturbation can be observed in the different petrofacies.(2) Ichnofossils and bioturbation play a complex role in controlling reservoir properties. The reservoir physical properties have the characteristics of a decrease–increase–decrease curve with increasing bioturbation degree. This complex change is controlled by the sediment mixing and packing of bioturbation and the diagenetic environment controlled by the ichnofossils.(3) Sea-level cycle changes affect the modification of the reservoir through sediment packing. Bioturbation weakens the reservoir's physical property when sea level slowly rises and improves the reservoir's physical property when base level slowly falls.展开更多

文摘The deep-ultra deep carbonate reservoir in China, commonly subjected to modification of multi-stage diagenesis, has extremely high heterogeneity.Conventional rock physics analysis cannot accurately identify the elastic responses of reservoir. Here, the rock physics properties of the dolomite from the 4th Member of the Sinian Dengying Formation are experimentally measured, and the change law of rock physics characteristics is investigated within the framework of the diagenetic processes by the analysis of the elastic and petrologic characteristics, pore structure, and sedimentary environments. The results show that the differentiated diagenesis results in different pore structure characteristics and microtexture characteristics of the rock. The microbial dolomite of the algal mound-grain beach facies is subjected to the contemporaneous microbial dolomitization and seepage-reflux dolomitization, penecontemporaneous selective dissolution, burial dolomitization, and hydrothermal dolomitization. The resultant crystalline dolomite is found with one main type of the dolomite crystal contact boundaries, and the dissolution pore is extensive development. The siliceous, muddy, and limy dolomite of the interbeach sea environment mainly experiences the weak capillary concentration dolomitization, intensive mechanical compaction-induced densification, and burial dolomitization.Such crystalline dolomite is observed with four types of contact boundaries, namely the dolomite contact, clay contact, quartz contact, and calcite contact boundaries, and porosity mostly attributed to residual primary inter-granular or crystalline pores. The samples with the same crystal boundary condition have consistent correlations between the compressional-and shear-wave velocities, and between the compressional-wave velocity and the velocity ratio.Additionally, the variation of the acoustic velocity with effective pressure and the intensity of pore-scale fluid-related dispersion are controlled by the differentiation of pore structure types of the samples. The varied effects of soft pores like micro-cracks on the compressional-and shearwave velocity causes considerable changes in the relationships between the compressional-and shearwave velocities,compressional-wave velocity and velocity ratio, and porosity and acoustic velocity. This research is an attempt to demonstrate a novel method for investigating the rock physics variation of rock during the geological process, and the obtained findings can provide the rock physics basis for seismic prediction of the characteristics of deep carbonate reservoirs.

文摘In order to clarify the influence of liquid sulfur deposition and adsorption to high-H2S gas reservoirs, three types of natural cores with typical carbonate pore structures were selected for high-temperature and high-pressure core displacement experiments.Fine quantitative characterization of the cores in three steady states(original, after sulfur injection, and after gas flooding)was carried out using the nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)transverse relaxation time spectrum and imaging,X-ray computer tomography(CT)of full-diameter cores, basic physical property testing, and field emission scanning electron microscopy imaging. The loss of pore volume caused by sulfur deposition and adsorption mainly comes from the medium and large pores with sizes bigger than 1000μm.Liquid sulfur has a stronger adsorption and deposition ability in smaller pore spaces, and causes greater damage to reservoirs with poor original pore structures. The pore structure of the three types of carbonate reservoirs shows multiple fractal characteristics. The worse the pore structure, the greater the change of internal pore distribution caused by liquid sulfur deposition and adsorption, and the stronger the heterogeneity.Liquid sulfur deposition and adsorption change the pore size distribution, pore connectivity, and heterogeneity of the rock, which further changes the physical properties of the reservoir. After sulfur injection and gas flooding, the permeability of TypeⅠreservoirs with good physical properties decreased by 16%,and that of TypesⅡandⅢreservoirs with poor physical properties decreased by 90%or more, suggesting an extremely high damage. This indicates that the worse the initial physical properties, the greater the damage of liquid sulfur deposition and adsorption.Liquid sulfur is adsorbed and deposited in different types of pore space in the forms of flocculence, cobweb,or retinitis, causing different changes in the pore structure and physical property of the reservoir.

文摘For the ultra-high water-cut reservoirs, after long-term water injection exploitation, the physical properties of the reservoir change and the heterogeneity of the reservoir becomes increasingly severe, which further aggravates the spatial difference of the flow field. In this study, the displacement experiments were employed to investigate the variations in core permeability, porosity, and relative permeability after a large amount of water injection.A relative permeability endpoint model was proposed by utilizing the alternating conditional expectation(ACE)transformation to describe the variation in relative permeability based on the experimental data.Based on the time dependent models for permeability and relative permeability, the traditional oil-water two-phase model was improved and discretized using the mimetic finite difference method(MFD).The two cases were launched to confirm the validation of the proposed model. The impact of time-varying physical features on reservoir production performance was studied in a real water flooding reservoir. The experimental results indicate that the overall relative permeability curve shifts to the right as water injection increases. This shift corresponds to a transition towards a more hydrophilic wettability and a decrease in residual oil saturation. The endpoint model demonstrates excellent accuracy and can be applied to time-varying simulations of reservoir physics. The impact of variations in permeability and relative permeability on the reservoir production performance yields two distinct outcomes. The time-varying permeability of the reservoir results in intensified water channeling and poor development effects. On the other hand, the time-varying relative permeability enhances the oil phase seepage capacity, facilitating oil displacement. The comprehensive time-varying behavior is the result of the combined influence of these two parameters, which closely resemble the actual conditions observed in oil field exploitation. The time-varying simulation technique of reservoir physical properties proposed in this paper can continuously and stably characterize the dynamic changes of reservoir physical properties during water drive development. This approach ensures the reliability of the simulation results regarding residual oil distribution.
文摘Accurate characterization of seismic properties in the prediction of P-wave and S-wave velocities through carbonate reservoirs is necessary due to their intrinsic heterogeneity. Eventually, some templates have been created to accurate characterization the carbonate reservoir based on the rock physics model and also show the high-quality correlations between the rock physics model and the measured data.
文摘Rock Physics Modelling and Seismic Inversion were carried out in an Onshore Niger Delta Field for the purpose of characterizing a hydrocarbon reservoir. The results of this work can assist in forecasting hydrocarbon prospectivity and lessen chances of drilling dry holes in MUN onshore Niger delta field.

文摘Traditionally, fluid substitutions are often conducted on log data for calculating reservoir elastic properties with different pore fluids. Finally, we applied these linear relations for fluid substitution on seismic data and identified gas reservoirs by the cross-plot between the AVO attributes from seismic data and those from seismic data after direct fluid substitution.

文摘The Upper Ordovician Wufeng-Lower Silurian Longmaxi shale is widely distributed in the Sichuan Basin and its periphery, which is the key stratum for marine shale gas exploration and development(E&D)in China.Based on sedimentary environment, material basis, storage space, fracability and reservoir evolution data, the reservoir characteristics of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale and their significance for shale gas E&D are systematically compared and analyzed in this paper. The results show that(1)the depocenter of the Wufeng(WF)-Longmaxi(LM)shale gradually migrates from east to west. The high-quality shale reservoirs in the eastern Sichuan Basin are mainly siliceous shales, which are primarily distributed in the graptolite shale interval of WF2-LM5.The high-quality reservoirs in the southern Sichuan Basin are mainly calcareous-siliceous and organic-rich argillaceous shales, which are distributed in the graptolite shale interval of WF2-LM7.(2)Deep shale gas(the burial depth>3500 m)in the Sichuan Basin has high-ultrahigh pressure and superior physical properties. The organic-rich siliceous,calcareous-siliceous and organic-rich argillaceous shales have suitable reservoir properties. The marginal area of the Sichuan Basin has a higher degree of pressure relief, which leads to the argillaceous and silty shales evolving into direct cap rocks with poor reservoir/good sealing capacity.(3)Combining shale gas exploration practices and impacts of lithofacies, depth, pressure coefficient and brittle-ductile transition on the reservoir properties,it is concluded that the favorable depth interval of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale gas is 2200~4000 m under current technical conditions.(4)Aiming at the differential reservoir properties of the Wufeng-Longmaxi shale in the Sichuan Basin and its periphery, several suggestions for future research directions and E&D of shale gas are formulated.
文摘The Lower Triassic Feixianguan Formation in the Daxian-Xuanhan region, northeastern Sicbuan is interpreted to be a carbonate platform intermediate between the West Hubei-East Cbongqing marine basin and Guangyuan-Wangcang marine basin. Vertically, they occur dominantly in the second and first members of the Feixianguan Formation, and laterally in the platform exposed shoals and restricted platforms, where good natural gas potential is expected.

文摘Carbonate reservoirs exhibit strong heterogeneity in the distribution of pore types that can be quantitatively characterized by applying Xu–Payne multi-porosity model. However, there are some prerequisites to this model the porosity and saturation need to be provided. In general, these application conditions are difficult to satisfy for seismic data.In order to overcome this problem,we present a two-step method to estimate the porosity and saturation and pore type of carbonate reservoirs from seismic data.In step one,the pore space of the carbonate reservoir is equivalent to a single-porosity system with an effective pore aspect ratio;then,a 3D rock-physics template(RPT)is established through the Gassmann’s equations and effective medium models;and then, the effective aspect ratio of pore, porosity and fluid saturation are simultaneously estimated from the seismic data based on 3D RPT.In step two,the pore space of the carbonate reservoir is equivalent to a triple-porosity system.Combined with the inverted porosity and saturation in the first step, the porosities of three pore types can be inverted from the seismic elastic properties. The application results indicate that our method can obtain accurate physical properties consistent with logging data and ensure the reliability of characterization of pore type.

文摘Many of the sedimentary basins in western China were formed through the superposition and compounding of at least two previously developed sedimentary basins and in general they can be termed as complex superimposed basins. Based on their genesis characteristics, complex reservoirs are divided into five categories: (1) primary reservoirs, (2) trap adjustment type reservoirs, (3) component variant reservoirs, (4) phase conversion type reservoirs and (5) scale-reformed reservoirs.

文摘Gas hydrate is one kind of potential energy resources that is buried under deep seafloor or frozen areas. The first trial offshore production from the silty reservoir was conducted in the South China Sea by the China Geological Survey(CGS).During this test, there were many unique characteristics different from the sand reservoir, which was believed to be related to the clayed silt physical properties. In this paper, simulation experiments, facilities analysis, and theoretical calculation were used to confirm the hydrate structure, reservoir thermo-physical property, and bond water movement rule. And the behavior of how they affected production efficiency was analyzed. The results showed that:It was reasonable to use the structure I rather than structure II methane hydrate phase equilibrium data to make the production plan;the dissociation heat absorbed by hydrate was large enough to cause hydrate self-protection or reformation depend on the reservoir thermal transfer and gas supply;clayed silt got better thermal conductivity compared to coarse grain, but poor thermal convection especially with hydrate;clayed silt sediment was easy to bond water, but the irreducible water can be exchanged to free water under high production pressure, and the most obvious pressure range of water increment was 1.9–4.9 MPa.

文摘Calcined ginger nuts admixed by fly ash and quartz sand (CGN-(F+S)) has been validated to be basically compatible to earthen sites as an anchor grout. But in general, CGN-(F+S) still has good durability.

文摘Ichnofossils are well developed in clastic rock reservoirs in marine and transitional facies, which can considerably change the physical properties of the reservoir. Bioturbation weakens the reservoir's physical property when sea level slowly rises and improves the reservoir's physical property when base level slowly falls.

文摘With wells Puguang 2 and 6 in the Puguang gas field as the research objects by choosing organic carbon as characterization reservoir carbon(indirectly reflecting the bitumen contents),this paper discusses the relationship between bitumen contents and lithologic characteristics, reservoir characteristics, and calculates the volume of paleo-oil and oil cracked gas.The study shows that the organic carbon contents of the reservoirs are related to lithologic characteristics.Due to variations in the particle size or structure of rocks, the porosity of the reservoirs varies, furthermore,it will influence the contents of organic carbon. And the relationship between these two parameters is positive.Based on the analysis, the relationship between total organic carbon(TOC)and the contents of reservoir bitumen also appears to be positive. The volume of paleo-oil and cracked gas of the Changxing-Feixian’guan Formation are respectively 495 million tons and 360.4 billion m3 through the calculation of reservoir’s organic carbon. Therefore, the relationship between carbon-bearing rate and characteristics of the reservoirs can be used to indirectly evaluate reservoir types.Besides, the carbon-bearing rate of the reservoirs also reflects the contents of reservoir bitumen,paleo-oil as well as natural gas.It makes a new approach for the study of the types of reservoirs and the amounts of paleo-oil and oil cracked gas in northeastern Sichuan Basin.
