Exploiting demand-side heterogeneous flexible resources in risk management of power system frequency

More demand-side flexible resources(DFRs)are participating in the frequency regulation of renewable power systems,whose heterogeneous characteristics have a significant impact on the system frequency response.Consequently,selecting suitable DFRs poses a formidable challenge for independent system operators(ISO).In this paper,a reserve allocation methodology for heterogeneous DFRs is proposed to manage the risk of power system frequency.Firstly,a performance curve is developed to describe the cost,capacity,and response speed of DFRs.Moreover,a clustering method for multiple distributed DFRs is conducted to calculate the aggregated performance curves and uncertainty coefficients.Then,the frequency security criterion considering DFRs’performance is constructed,whose linearity makes it can be easily coupled into the system scheduling model and solved.Furthermore,a risk management model for DFRs considering frequency-chance-constraint is proposed to make a trade-off between cost and frequency security.Finally,the model is transformed into mixed integer second-order cone programming(MISOCP)and solved by the commercial solver.The proposed model is validated by the IEEE 30 and IEEE 118 bus systems. 展开更多

To solve these problems, this paper proposed the conception of Flexible ERP system. F-ERP is a self- adapti ve software system based on multi-agent technology. It developed the followin g kind of agents which are useful for F-ERP: business process agent, interf ace agent, data agent and decision and analysis agent. The F-ERP software syste m is an hierarchy system which is composed of data layer, system tools layer, bu siness application layer and business decision layer. It used component based de velopment mythology and complied with CORBA to development F-ERP. The F-ERP sy stem can support the new management ideas such as BPR, DEM and virtual enterpris e etc. By implementation of it, enterprise can improve its management and promot e its competence. 展开更多

Quick Hosting Capacity Evaluation Based on Distributed Dispatching for Smart Distribution Network Planning with Distributed Generation

The smart distribution network(SDN)is integrat ing increasing distributed generation(DG)and energy storage(ES).Hosting capacity evaluation is important for SDN plan ning with DG.DG and ES are usually invested by users or a third party,and they may form friendly microgrids(MGs)and operate independently.Traditional centralized dispatching meth od no longer suits for hosting capacity evaluation of SDN.A quick hosting capacity evaluation method based on distributed optimal dispatching is proposed.Firstly,a multi-objective DG hosting capacity evaluation model is established,and the host ing capacity for DG is determined by the optimal DG planning schemes.The steady-state security region method is applied to speed up the solving process of the DG hosting capacity evalua tion model.Then,the optimal dispatching models are estab lished for MG and SDN respectively to realize the operating simulation.Under the distributed dispatching strategy,the dual-side optimal operation of SDN-MGs can be realized by several iterations of power exchange requirement.Finally,an SDN with four MGs is conducted considering multiple flexible resources.It shows that the DG hosting capacity of SDN oversteps the sum of the maximum active power demand and the rated branch capacity.Besides,the annual DG electricity oversteps the maximum active power demand value. 展开更多

Large fluctuations may occur on the energy supply and the load sides when large-scale renewable energies are integrated,leading to great challenges in power systems.The renewable power curtailment is especially numerous in the integrated electricity-heat energy system(IEHES)on account of electricity-heat coupling.The flexible resources(FRs)on both the energy supply and load sides are introduced into the optimal dispatch of the IEHES and further modeled to alleviate the renewable fluctuations in this paper.On the energy supply side,three kinds of FRs based on electricity-heat coordination are modeled and discussed.On the load side,the shiftable electricity demand resource is characterized.On this basis,the solution for FRs participating in IEHES dispatch is given,with goals of maximizing the renewable penetration ratio and lowering operation costs.Two scenarios are performed,and the results indicate that the proposed optimal dispatch strategy can effectively reduce the renewable energy curtailment and improve the flexibility of the IEHES.The contribution degrees of different FRs for renewable integration are also explored. 展开更多

The penetration of distributed energy resources(DERs) and energy-intensive resources is gradually increasing in active distribution networks(ADNs), which leads to frequent and severe voltage violation problems. As a densely distributed flexible resource in the future distribution network, 5G base station(BS) backup battery is used to regulate the voltage profile of ADN in this paper. First, the dispatchable potential of 5G BS backup batteries is analyzed. Considering the spatial-temporal characteristics of electric load for 5G BS, the dispatchable capacity of backup batteries at different time intervals is evaluated based on historical heat map data. Then, a voltage profile optimization model for ADN is established, consisting of 5G BS backup batteries and other voltage regulation resources. In this model, the charging/discharging behavior of backup batteries is based on its evaluation result of dispatchable capacity. Finally, the range of charging/discharging cost coefficients of 5G BS that benefits ADN and 5G operators are analyzed respectively. Further, an incentive policy for 5G operators is proposed. Under this policy, the charging/discharging cost coefficients of 5G BS can achieve a win-win situation for ADN and 5G operators. As an emerging flexible resource in ADN, the effectiveness and economy of 5G BS backup batteries participating in voltage profile optimization are verified in a test distribution network. 展开更多
