In mobile cloud computing(MCC) systems,both the mobile access network and the cloud computing network are heterogeneous,implying the diverse configurations of hardware,software,architecture,resource,etc.In such heterogeneous mobile cloud(HMC) networks,both radio and cloud resources could become the system bottleneck,thus designing the schemes that separately and independently manage the resources may severely hinder the system performance.In this paper,we aim to design the network as the integration of the mobile access part and the cloud computing part,utilizing the inherent heterogeneity to meet the diverse quality of service(QoS)requirements of tenants.Furthermore,we propose a novel cross-network radio and cloud resource management scheme for HMC networks,which is QoS-aware,with the objective of maximizing the tenant revenue while satisfying the QoS requirements.The proposed scheme is formulated as a restless bandits problem,whose "indexability" feature guarantees the low complexity with scalable and distributed characteristics.Extensive simulation results are presented to demonstrate the significant performance improvement of the proposed scheme compared to the existing ones. 展开更多

In order to get a better understanding of supply chain visibility for creating strategic value,this paper uses a dynamic capability lens to reveal the nature of supply chain visibility.This paper identifies the importance of supply chain visibility in driving supply chain reconfigurability and consequently improving supply chain strategic performance.Empirical evidence shows that visibility has direct impact on supply chain strategic performance.It also supports that visibility is important for enhancing supply chain reconfigurability,thus creating strategic value in supply chains.Supply chain visibility therefore enables firms to reconfigure their supply chain resources for better competitive advantage.From the perspective of practitioners,the results display several insights into how managers should create strategic value from supply chain visibility.Prominently,managers or decision makers need to take advantage of supply chain visibility in order to use and recombine resources in value creation manner. 展开更多

How Mobile Are Resources in Chinese Agriculture?—Implications for China's Agricultural Trade Policy

Agricultural trade policy in China has been the subject of heated discussion since China 's accession to the WTO. Studies have been carried out and propositions put forth regarding comparative advantage, food security, development of the industry, and farmers' income. In this paper, we attempt to provide an analysis from another important perspective: resource mobility, which is an essential assumption in free trade theory. By examining the mobility of different production resources in Chinese agriculture, namely natural resources, capital inputs, human resources and institutional arrangements, we found that for most production resources in Chinese agriculture, mobility is low. The results have significant policy implications in two respects:first, protective measures in the transitional period for certain crops in certain areas in China are legitimate and necessary to ensure social stability; and second, policy instruments to improve resource mobility in Chinese agricultural should be explored and implemented to realize more trade benefit in the future. 展开更多

In this paper,a resource mobility aware two-stage hybrid task planning algorithm is proposed to reduce the resource conflict between emergency tasks and the common tasks,so as to improve the overall performance of space information networks.Specifically,in the common task planning stage,a resource fragment avoidance task planning algorithm is proposed,which reduces the contention between emergency tasks and the planned common tasks in the next stage by avoiding the generation of resource fragments.For emergency tasks,we design a metric to quantify the revenue of the candidate resource combination of emergency tasks,which considers both the priority of the tasks and the impact on the planned common tasks.Based on this,a resource mobility aware emergency task planning algorithm is proposed,which strikes a good balance between improving the sum priority and avoiding disturbing the planned common tasks.Finally,simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the existing algorithms in both the sum task priority and the task completion rate. 展开更多

After a major outage,mobile emergency resources(MERs)can be dispatched via the transportation system(TS)for service restoration to critical loads in the power distribution system(PDS).In this case study,the efficiency of service restoration in the PDS is associated with the traffic efficiency of the TS,and vice versa,because the PDS and TS are mutually coupled through traffic lights and MERs.This paper proposes a service restoration method considering interdependency between the PDS and TS,which is formulated as a mixed-integer linear program(MILP).The objective includes maximizing the efficiency of both PDS restoration and TS.By solving the MILP,the dynamic load restoration and MER dispatch strategies can be obtained.For the PDS,the availability of MERs,including mobile sources and repair crews,relates to their dispatch in the TS,and their relationship is formulated as mathematical models.For the TS,the dynamic traffic flow is modeled using the cell transmission model and the effect of traffic lights is considered.Case studies validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多
