A recursion symmetry Hungarian method (RSHM), modified from the Hungarian method, is proposed for generating a DR operation sequence with minimal total travel time, in which symmetry marking is introduced to ensure a feasible solution and recursion is adopted to break the endless loop caused by the symmetry marking. Simulation experiments are conducted to evaluate the cost effectiveness and the performance of the proposed method. Experimental results illustrate that compared to the single-shuttle machine, the dual-shuttle machine can reduce more than 40% of the total travel time of retrieval operations, and the RSHM saves about 5% to 10% of the total travel time of retrieval operations compared to the greedy-based heuristic.展开更多

However, the existing layout of distribution centers can't fulfill the storage and picking d...E-commerce, as an emerging marketing mode, has attracted more and more attention and gradually changed the way of our life. However, the existing layout of distribution centers can't fulfill the storage and picking demands of e-commerce sufficiently. In this paper, a modified miniload automated storage/retrieval system is designed to fit these new characteristics of e-commerce in logistics. Meanwhile, a matching problem, concerning with the improvement of picking efficiency in new system, is studied in this paper. The problem is how to reduce the travelling distance of totes between aisles and picking stations. A multi-stage heuristic algorithm is proposed based on statement and model of this problem. The main idea of this algorithm is, with some heuristic strategies based on similarity coefficients, minimizing the transportations of items which can not arrive in the destination picking stations just through direct conveyors. The experimental results based on the cases generated by computers show that the average reduced rate of indirect transport times can reach 14.36% with the application of multi-stage heuristic algorithm. For the cases from a real e-commerce distribution center, the order processing time can be reduced from 11.20 h to 10.06 h with the help of the modified system and the proposed algorithm. In summary, this research proposed a modified system and a multi-stage heuristic algorithm that can reduce the travelling distance of totes effectively and improve the whole performance of e-commerce distribution center.展开更多

A 5-tuple based semantic information retrieval model is proposed, which includes the interoperation on the semantic layer, and a test process is given for this model. The recall ratio and the precision ratio of manufacturing knowledge retrieval are proved to be greatly improved by evaluation. Designing an appropriate information visualization system may be very useful technique for scholars, who intent to get scientific information from digital libraries. The objective of current study was to map and visualize the key-information of dissertations in academic libraries. To achieve the aim, an information retrieval system was designed to present the interactive graphic view of dissertations’ subjects in academic. Methods: An information retrieval system was designed by information visualization toolkit that presents the related subjects of dissertations in academic libraries. In addition, the satisfaction-levels of library-users were analyzed by administrating a standard questionnaire (QUIS Questionnaire). Results: The study indicated that the designed IR system helped to provide a user-friendly environment through displaying subjective relations of dissertations, overwhelming variety of colors in displaying information. Fast and easy access to the cover-to-cover information of dissertations and user-interaction facilities are the advantages of designed IR. Analysis of data furthermore indicated that the users’ satisfaction from the system was from medium to high grade. Conclusion: Designing the IR-system revealed an excessive influence on users’ satisfaction;therefore, proposing such systems for employing in academic libraries is very suitable and its implementation is necessary.展开更多
The implementation of content-based image retrieval(CBIR)mainly depends on two key technologies:image feature extraction and image feature matching.In this paper,we extract the color features based on Global Color His...The implementation of content-based image retrieval(CBIR)mainly depends on two key technologies:image feature extraction and image feature matching.In this paper,we extract the color features based on Global Color Histogram(GCH)and texture features based on Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix(GLCM).In order to obtain the effective and representative features of the image,we adopt the fuzzy mathematical algorithm in the process of color feature extraction and texture feature extraction respectively.And we combine the fuzzy color feature vector with the fuzzy texture feature vector to form the comprehensive fuzzy feature vector of the image according to a certain way.Image feature matching mainly depends on the similarity between two image feature vectors.In this paper,we propose a novel similarity measure method based on k-Nearest Neighbors(kNN)and fuzzy mathematical algorithm(SBkNNF).Finding out the k nearest neighborhood images of the query image from the image data set according to an appropriate similarity measure method.Using the k similarity values between the query image and its k neighborhood images to constitute the new k-dimensional fuzzy feature vector corresponding to the query image.And using the k similarity values between the retrieved image and the k neighborhood images of the query image to constitute the new k-dimensional fuzzy feature vector corresponding to the retrieved image.Calculating the similarity between the two kdimensional fuzzy feature vector according to a certain fuzzy similarity algorithm to measure the similarity between the query image and the retrieved image.Extensive experiments are carried out on three data sets:WANG data set,Corel-5k data set and Corel-10k data set.The experimental results show that the outperforming retrieval performance of our proposed CBIR system with the other CBIR systems.展开更多

There...CAD model retrieval based on functional semantics is more significant than content-based 3D model retrieval during the mechanical conceptual design phase. However, relevant research is still not fully discussed. Therefore, a functional semantic-based CAD model annotation and retrieval method is proposed to support mechanical conceptual design and design reuse, inspire designer creativity through existing CAD models, shorten design cycle, and reduce costs. Firstly, the CAD model functional semantic ontology is constructed to formally represent the functional semantics of CAD models and describe the mechanical conceptual design space comprehensively and consistently. Secondly, an approach to represent CAD models as attributed adjacency graphs(AAG) is proposed. In this method, the geometry and topology data are extracted from STEP models. On the basis of AAG, the functional semantics of CAD models are annotated semi-automatically by matching CAD models that contain the partial features of which functional semantics have been annotated manually, thereby constructing CAD Model Repository that supports model retrieval based on functional semantics. Thirdly, a CAD model retrieval algorithm that supports multi-function extended retrieval is proposed to explore more potential creative design knowledge in the semantic level. Finally, a prototype system, called Functional Semantic-based CAD Model Annotation and Retrieval System(FSMARS), is implemented. A case demonstrates that FSMARS can successfully botain multiple potential CAD models that conform to the desired function. The proposed research addresses actual needs and presents a new way to acquire CAD models in the mechanical conceptual design phase.展开更多

The users could visit our system though web pages. It uses the symmetrical color-spatial features (SCSF) to represent the content of an image. The SCSF is effective and efficient for image matching because it is independent of image distortion such as rotation and flip as well as it increases the matching accuracy. The SCSF was organized by M-tree, which could speedup the searching procedure. Our experiments show that the image matching is quickly and efficiently with the use of SCSF. We propose a new encoding scheme to represent trees, which is composed of two parts: the pre-ordered traversal sequence of tree vertices and the children number sequence of corresponding tree vertices. The proposed encoding scheme has the advantages of simplicity for encoding and decoding, ease for GA operations, and better equilibrium between exploration and exploitation. It is also adaptive in that, with few restrictions on the length of code, it can be freely lengthened or shortened according to the characteristics of the problem space. Furthermore, the encoding scheme is highly applicable to the degree-constrained minimum spanning tree problem because it also contains the degree information of each node. The simulation results demonstrate the higher performance of our algorithm, with fast convergence to the optima or sub-optima on various problem sizes. Comparing with the binary string encoding of vertices, when the problem size is large, our algorithm runs remarkably faster with comparable search capability. Most of the existing result merging methods, usually suffered a great influence from the usefulness weight of different IRRS results and overlap rate among them. In this paper, we proposed a scheme that being capable of coalescing and optimizing a group of existing multi-sources-retrieval merging results effectively by Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO). The experimental results show that the DPSO, not only can overall outperform all the other result merging algorithms it employed, but also has better adaptability in application for unnecessarily taking into account different IRRS's usefulness weight and their overlap rate with respect to a concrete query. Compared to other result merging algorithms it employed, the DPSO's recognition precision can increase nearly 24.6%, while the precision standard deviation for different queries can decrease about 68.3%.展开更多

Without adequate knowledge of Information Retrieval (IR) methods, the retrieval process for information would be cumbersome and frustrating. Studies have further revealed that IR methods are essential in information centres (for example, Digital Library environment) for storage and retrieval of information. Therefore, with more than one billion people accessing the Internet, and millions of queries being issued on a daily basis, modern Web search engines are facing a problem of daunting scale. The main problem associated with the existing search engines is how to avoid irrelevant information retrieval and to retrieve the relevant ones. In this study, the existing system of library retrieval was studied. Problems associated with them were analyzed in order to address this problem. The concept of existing information retrieval models was studied, and the knowledge gained was used to design a digital library information retrieval system. It was successfully implemented using a real life data. The need for a continuous evaluation of the IR methods for effective and efficient full text retrieval system was recommended.展开更多

With the advance of multimedia technology and communications, images and videos become the major streaming information through the Internet. How to fast retrieve desired similar images precisely from the Internet scal...With the advance of multimedia technology and communications, images and videos become the major streaming information through the Internet. How to fast retrieve desired similar images precisely from the Internet scale image/video databases is the most important retrieval control target. In this paper, a cloud based content-based image retrieval (CBIR) scheme is presented. Database-categorizing based on weighted-inverted index (DCWII) and database f'dtering algorithm (DFA) is used to speed up the features matching process. In the DCWII, the weights are assigned to discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients histograms and the database is categorized by weighted features. In addition, the DFA filters out the irrelevant image in the database to reduce unnecessary computation loading for features matching. Experiments show that the proposed CBIR scheme outperforms previous work in the precision-recall performance and maintains mean average precision (mAP) about 0.678 in the large-scale database comprising one million images. Our scheme also can reduce about 50% to 85% retrieval time by pre-filtering the database, which helps to improve the efficiency of retrieval systems.展开更多

Based on this theory, another ground is built with 12,000 images, which are divided into three classes: city, landscape and person, the total result of the classifications is 88.92%, meanwhile, some preliminary results are presented for image understanding based on semantic image classification and low level features. The groundtruth for the experiments is built with the images from Corel database, photos and some famous face databases.展开更多
Information retrieval (IR) systems are designed to help information seekers retrieving relevant information from vast document. The need for relevant information from a vast amount of document gave birth to IR systems...Information retrieval (IR) systems are designed to help information seekers retrieving relevant information from vast document. The need for relevant information from a vast amount of document gave birth to IR systems. Even though different IR systems exist, they cannot meet all users’ expectations. A different level of users’ knowledge makes queries to be expressed in different ways. As a result, the system may miss the core meaning of users query and retrieve dissatisfactory results. This happens mainly because of the ambiguities of words involved in the natural languages and expression mismatch among users and authors. The existing ambiguities in Amharic language have negative impacts on the performance of Amharic IR system. Some of the ambiguities for this type of problem are: spelling variants of the same word, polysemous and synonymous terms. If users are not fully knowledgeable about the information domain area, they will mostly formulate weak queries to retrieve documents. Thus, they end up frustrated with the results found from an IR system. This research has been conducted, aiming at augmenting the recall of previous work. Statistical co-occurrence technique has been used in order to expand query terms. The main reason for performing query expansion is to provide relevant documents as per users’ query that can satisfy their information need. Statistical co-occurrence method considers, frequently appearing terms with the query term, regardless of their position. The efficiency of proposed technique has been tested on the prototype system and the result found compared with the result of previous study. Accordingly, 6% recall and 2% f-measure improvement has been made. Hence, the statistical co-occurrence method outperformed the bi-gram based IR system.展开更多

文摘The implementation of content-based image retrieval(CBIR)mainly depends on two key technologies:image feature extraction and image feature matching.In this paper,we extract the color features based on Global Color Histogram(GCH)and texture features based on Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix(GLCM).In order to obtain the effective and representative features of the image,we adopt the fuzzy mathematical algorithm in the process of color feature extraction and texture feature extraction respectively.And we combine the fuzzy color feature vector with the fuzzy texture feature vector to form the comprehensive fuzzy feature vector of the image according to a certain way.Image feature matching mainly depends on the similarity between two image feature vectors.In this paper,we propose a novel similarity measure method based on k-Nearest Neighbors(kNN)and fuzzy mathematical algorithm(SBkNNF).Finding out the k nearest neighborhood images of the query image from the image data set according to an appropriate similarity measure method.Using the k similarity values between the query image and its k neighborhood images to constitute the new k-dimensional fuzzy feature vector corresponding to the query image.And using the k similarity values between the retrieved image and the k neighborhood images of the query image to constitute the new k-dimensional fuzzy feature vector corresponding to the retrieved image.Calculating the similarity between the two kdimensional fuzzy feature vector according to a certain fuzzy similarity algorithm to measure the similarity between the query image and the retrieved image.Extensive experiments are carried out on three data sets:WANG data set,Corel-5k data set and Corel-10k data set.The experimental results show that the outperforming retrieval performance of our proposed CBIR system with the other CBIR systems.

文摘CAD model retrieval based on functional semantics is more significant than content-based 3D model retrieval during the mechanical conceptual design phase. However, relevant research is still not fully discussed. Therefore, a functional semantic-based CAD model annotation and retrieval method is proposed to support mechanical conceptual design and design reuse, inspire designer creativity through existing CAD models, shorten design cycle, and reduce costs. Firstly, the CAD model functional semantic ontology is constructed to formally represent the functional semantics of CAD models and describe the mechanical conceptual design space comprehensively and consistently. Secondly, an approach to represent CAD models as attributed adjacency graphs(AAG) is proposed. In this method, the geometry and topology data are extracted from STEP models. On the basis of AAG, the functional semantics of CAD models are annotated semi-automatically by matching CAD models that contain the partial features of which functional semantics have been annotated manually, thereby constructing CAD Model Repository that supports model retrieval based on functional semantics. Thirdly, a CAD model retrieval algorithm that supports multi-function extended retrieval is proposed to explore more potential creative design knowledge in the semantic level. Finally, a prototype system, called Functional Semantic-based CAD Model Annotation and Retrieval System(FSMARS), is implemented. A case demonstrates that FSMARS can successfully botain multiple potential CAD models that conform to the desired function. The proposed research addresses actual needs and presents a new way to acquire CAD models in the mechanical conceptual design phase.
文摘To retrieve the object region efficaciously from massive remote sensing image database, a model for content-based retrieval of remote sensing image is given according to the characters of remote sensing image application firstly, and then the algorithm adopted for feature extraction and multidimensional indexing, and relevance feedback by this model are analyzed in detail. Finally, the contents intending to be researched about this model are proposed.
文摘We propose a content-based parallel image retrieval system to achieve high responding ability. Our system is developed on cluster architectures. It has several retrieval. servers to supply the service of content-based image retrieval. It adopts the Browser/Server (B/S) mode. The users could visit our system though web pages. It uses the symmetrical color-spatial features (SCSF) to represent the content of an image. The SCSF is effective and efficient for image matching because it is independent of image distortion such as rotation and flip as well as it increases the matching accuracy. The SCSF was organized by M-tree, which could speedup the searching procedure. Our experiments show that the image matching is quickly and efficiently with the use of SCSF. And with the support of several retrieval servers, the system could respond to many users at mean time. 文摘In this paper, we employ genetic algorithms to solve the migration problem (MP). We propose a new encoding scheme to represent trees, which is composed of two parts: the pre-ordered traversal sequence of tree vertices and the children number sequence of corresponding tree vertices. The proposed encoding scheme has the advantages of simplicity for encoding and decoding, ease for GA operations, and better equilibrium between exploration and exploitation. It is also adaptive in that, with few restrictions on the length of code, it can be freely lengthened or shortened according to the characteristics of the problem space. Furthermore, the encoding scheme is highly applicable to the degree-constrained minimum spanning tree problem because it also contains the degree information of each node. The simulation results demonstrate the higher performance of our algorithm, with fast convergence to the optima or sub-optima on various problem sizes. Comparing with the binary string encoding of vertices, when the problem size is large, our algorithm runs remarkably faster with comparable search capability. 文摘This paper presents a new kind of image retrieval system which obtains the feature vectors of images by estimating their fractal dimension; and at the same time establishes a tree structure image database. After preprocessing and feature extracting, a given image is matched with the standard images in the image database using a hierarchical method of image indexing.

文摘The result merging for multiple Independent Resource Retrieval Systems (IRRSs), which is a key component in developing a meta-search engine, is a difficult problem that still not effectively solved. Most of the existing result merging methods, usually suffered a great influence from the usefulness weight of different IRRS results and overlap rate among them. In this paper, we proposed a scheme that being capable of coalescing and optimizing a group of existing multi-sources-retrieval merging results effectively by Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO). The experimental results show that the DPSO, not only can overall outperform all the other result merging algorithms it employed, but also has better adaptability in application for unnecessarily taking into account different IRRS's usefulness weight and their overlap rate with respect to a concrete query. Compared to other result merging algorithms it employed, the DPSO's recognition precision can increase nearly 24.6%, while the precision standard deviation for different queries can decrease about 68.3%.
文摘The volume of information being created, generated and stored is huge. Without adequate knowledge of Information Retrieval (IR) methods, the retrieval process for information would be cumbersome and frustrating. Studies have further revealed that IR methods are essential in information centres (for example, Digital Library environment) for storage and retrieval of information. Therefore, with more than one billion people accessing the Internet, and millions of queries being issued on a daily basis, modern Web search engines are facing a problem of daunting scale. The main problem associated with the existing search engines is how to avoid irrelevant information retrieval and to retrieve the relevant ones. In this study, the existing system of library retrieval was studied. Problems associated with them were analyzed in order to address this problem. The concept of existing information retrieval models was studied, and the knowledge gained was used to design a digital library information retrieval system. It was successfully implemented using a real life data. The need for a continuous evaluation of the IR methods for effective and efficient full text retrieval system was recommended.

Derived by the application requirement, the paper also puts forward to a bilingual retrieval model on the basis of CAT/AGROVOC mapping, designs and realizes the ZH/EN bilingual retrieval prototype system.

文摘With the advance of multimedia technology and communications, images and videos become the major streaming information through the Internet. How to fast retrieve desired similar images precisely from the Internet scale image/video databases is the most important retrieval control target. In this paper, a cloud based content-based image retrieval (CBIR) scheme is presented. Database-categorizing based on weighted-inverted index (DCWII) and database f'dtering algorithm (DFA) is used to speed up the features matching process. In the DCWII, the weights are assigned to discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients histograms and the database is categorized by weighted features. In addition, the DFA filters out the irrelevant image in the database to reduce unnecessary computation loading for features matching. Experiments show that the proposed CBIR scheme outperforms previous work in the precision-recall performance and maintains mean average precision (mAP) about 0.678 in the large-scale database comprising one million images. Our scheme also can reduce about 50% to 85% retrieval time by pre-filtering the database, which helps to improve the efficiency of retrieval systems.
文摘This paper presents a novel efficient semantic image classification algorithm for high-level feature indexing of high-dimension image database. Experiments show that the algorithm performs well. The size of the train set and the test set is 7 537 and 5 000 respectively. Based on this theory, another ground is built with 12,000 images, which are divided into three classes: city, landscape and person, the total result of the classifications is 88.92%, meanwhile, some preliminary results are presented for image understanding based on semantic image classification and low level features. The groundtruth for the experiments is built with the images from Corel database, photos and some famous face databases.
文摘Information retrieval (IR) systems are designed to help information seekers retrieving relevant information from vast document. The need for relevant information from a vast amount of document gave birth to IR systems. Even though different IR systems exist, they cannot meet all users’ expectations. A different level of users’ knowledge makes queries to be expressed in different ways. As a result, the system may miss the core meaning of users query and retrieve dissatisfactory results. This happens mainly because of the ambiguities of words involved in the natural languages and expression mismatch among users and authors. The existing ambiguities in Amharic language have negative impacts on the performance of Amharic IR system. Some of the ambiguities for this type of problem are: spelling variants of the same word, polysemous and synonymous terms. If users are not fully knowledgeable about the information domain area, they will mostly formulate weak queries to retrieve documents. Thus, they end up frustrated with the results found from an IR system. This research has been conducted, aiming at augmenting the recall of previous work. Statistical co-occurrence technique has been used in order to expand query terms. The main reason for performing query expansion is to provide relevant documents as per users’ query that can satisfy their information need. Statistical co-occurrence method considers, frequently appearing terms with the query term, regardless of their position. The efficiency of proposed technique has been tested on the prototype system and the result found compared with the result of previous study. Accordingly, 6% recall and 2% f-measure improvement has been made. Hence, the statistical co-occurrence method outperformed the bi-gram based IR system.
