Heat-sensitive nociceptors in the skin are activated wherever the temperature is above the activation temperature. Withdrawal reflex occurs when the activated volume reaches a threshold. Previously we studied static beams with 3 types of power density distribution: Gaussian, super-Gaussian, and flat-top. We found that the flaptop is the best and the Gaussian is the worst in their performance with regard to 1) minimizing the time to withdrawal reflex, 2) minimizing the energy consumption and 3) minimizing the maximum temperature increase. The less-than-desirable performance of Gaussian beams is attributed to the uneven distribution of power density resulting in low energy efficiency: near the beam center the high power density does not contribute proportionally to increasing the activated volume;outside the beam effective radius the low power density fails to activate nociceptors. To overcome the drawbacks of Gaussian beams, in this study, we revolve a Gaussian beam around a fixed point to make the power density more uniformly distributed. We optimize the performance over two parameters: the spot size of static beam and the radius of beam revolution. We find that in comparison with a static Gaussian beam, a revolving Gaussian beam can reduce the energy consumption, and at the same time lower the maximum temperature.展开更多

The corresponding models in the non-numerically controlled manufacturing, such as designing the helical groove, grinding wheel, relative feeding motion, and calculating the helical angle of the cutting edge, are introduced. The examples are given to testify that the design approach is simple and readily realized in machining the revolving cutter with constant pitch. The effective design and manufacture method provides general references for non-NC machining revolving cutter with constant pitch and reducing the equipments input.展开更多

It is concluded from the comparison of the time-domain waveform and spectrum from different measurement points that three main factors lead to a high-level stern vibration. Firstly, the specific dynamic stiffness of a water tank is relatively small compared with its neighbor hold, which makes it act like a vibration isolator preventing vibrational energy transmitting to the main hold. Secondly, there exists high-density local modes in the working frequency range of the main engine and thus the local resonance occurs. Thirdly, the abnormal engagement of gears caused by the large deflection of the shaft bearing due to its low mounting rigidity leads to violent extra impulse excitations at high speeds. Then the modification against the dynamic defects is given by simply improving the specific stiffness of the water tanks. And the effect is validated by the FEM calculation. Some important experience is obtained with the problems being solved, which is useful in the design of ships with the same propulsion system. It is also believed that the dynamic consideration is as important as the static analysis for the ships, and that most of the vibration problems may be avoided with a proper acoustic design.展开更多

In this nanoscale system, a revolving charge is introduced to drive a water chain confined inside the SWNT, the charge and the tube together serving as a nano waterwheel and nano engine. A resonance-like phenomenon is found, and the revolving frequency of the charge plays a key role in pumping the water chain. The water flux across the SWNT increases with respect to the revolving frequency of the external charge and it reaches its maximum when the frequency is 4 THz. Correspondingly, the number of hydrogen bonds in the water chain inside the SWNT decreases dramatically as the frequency increases from 4 THz to 25 THz. The mechanism behind the resonance phenomenon has been investigated systematically. Our findings are helpful for the design of nanoscale fluidic devices and energy converters.展开更多

Six predation models derived from the analysis of interactions among and within predators and preys were developed. The total predatory capacity of spiders on rice insect pests after coexistence for one day can be expressed as follows: Y3 = 32.795 + 2.25X1 + 1.083X2 + 0.5X3 + 10.167X4 + 3.167X5 - 1.67X12 - 2.42X22 - 3.295X32 - 0.045X42 + 0.455X52 - 3.125X1X2 + 0.375X1X3 -0.625X1X4 - 0.375X1X5 + 0.375X2X3 - 0.875X2X4 + 0.125X2X5 + 0.375X3X4 - 0.375X3X5 + 0.125X4X5. The principal efficiency analysis using this model indicated that increases in insect pest density significantly increased predation by predators; this was much greater than the effect of any single predator. X4 had a greater effect than X5; however, X4 and X5 demonstrated little interspecific interference and even promoted each other and increased predation rates as the densities of the two pests increased. Among the three predators, an increase in the density of X, had the greatest effect on the increase in predation, X3 had the second, X2 the third greatest effect. As predator density increased inter- and intra-species interference occurred, which were largely related to the size, activity, niche breadth, niche overlap and searching efficiency of the predators. X2 produced the greatest interference between different individuals and between any other predator species. X3 had the second greatest, which reduced predation levels at high predator densities. Because of these factors, the highest predation rate was obtained at a prey density of 120 per 4 rice-hills. The optimal proportion of the three predators in the multi-predator prey system was X1: X2: X3 = 5.6:1.3:4.1.展开更多

Under commonly used light, the transformation matrix for parallel circles of different diameters casting shadows onto the same plane is identical. Using AutoCAD to get the shadow of a general object of revolution, it only needs to take a series of circles along the axis of symmetry and get their corresponding shadows of ellipses, drawing an envelope to cover all these silhouettes results in the required overall shadow. Then the discrete points of shadow contour line are projected back onto the original object surface, shadow on the object is obtained altogether.展开更多

文摘The shadow of a circle casting on a unparallel plane is an ellipse, the shadow algorithm involves a perspective affine transformation. Then the discrete points of shadow contour line are projected back onto the original object surface, shadow on the object is obtained altogether.
文摘THE premiere of popular Chinese TV soapie Beijing Love Storywas widely hailed as a major cultural breakthrough in the Nigerian capital of Abuja on September 18. Dubbed into Hausa. one of Nigeria's major languages, the drama formed part of the Experience China program held by China's State Council Information Office (SCIO) in Abuja from September 10 to 19.

文摘The estuarine areas are under frequent influence from freshwater intrusion and ocean currents,in which zooplankton species are diversified and variable as they are sensitive to physio-chemical variations in water. Therefore, understanding the relationships between zooplankton and environmental factors help us know the water quality. To achieve co-existence with species in similar ecological group or habit, they could inevitably alter themselves to fit the ecology and adjust the function according to the competitive exclusion in ecological theory. However, information of the co-existence of dominant species in the Changjiang(Yangtze)River estuary(CRE)and adjacent waters remains scarce. We explored the relationships between dominant zooplankton and environmental factors in the study region in spring-summer from 2016 to 2020,involving particularly the composition of dominant species, ecological groups, their relationships with environmental factors, and co-existence of important species, using the non-multidimensional scale analysis(nMDS)method and redundancy analysis. Results show that Labidocera euchaeta and Tortanus vermiculus were dominant species in the study scope. The turnover rate of dominant zooplankton was greater(>50%)in spring while the species number was higher in summer. The dominant species were estuarine, offshore, and eurytopic based on the adaptation to salinity. In spring, the ecological groups were dominated by estuarine species, while in summer by estuarine and offshore species. In addition, the nMDS showed that the dominant species in the same ecological group were more dispersed and not prominently clustered;the dominant species were staggered among different ecological groups. The temperature, salinity,pH,dissolved oxygen, and chlorophyll a were the main environmental factors on the distribution of the dominant species in spring, while in summer were dissolved oxygen, temperature, salinity, and pH.The domination of medusae of Nemopsis bachei and Pleurobrachia globosa in zooplankton community in spring, and the continuous decrease in abundance of L.euchaeta reflected the effects of local climate change. The temperature and salinity changes in different years and the subsequent response of zooplankton reflected the influence of freshwater intrusion and/or ocean currents.Zooplankton in similar ecological habits exhibited the competitive exclusion in terms of co-existence.
