Comprehensive river regulation in the new era is a series of construction procedures from planning, scheme generation and engineering design to commercial pattern, construction and operation, etc.,which is a comprehensive project coordinated and managed by multiple departments.Different industry departments measure the feasibility of scheme design according to the standards of their own departments in the examination of river regulation, but due to the lack of understanding of other industry standards, some unnecessary scheme contradictions are often caused in the cross-industry cooperation. The study integrates and sorts out specifi cations of various departments involved in river regulation, and performs analogy study of standards of various contents in multi-industry cooperation with contents of comprehensive river regulation as the scale,so as to promote cross-industry communication of comprehensive river regulation and promote construction of integrated river regulation platform. 展开更多

Urban construction in China has changed from“extensional sprawl”to“connotative development”.With the accelerating urbanization and improvement of living standards, citizens have had higher and more requirements on urban waterfront spaces.Starting from the history and characteristics of comprehensive river regulation, this paper explored its multiple meanings against the new appeals of urban development. On this basis, design and planning approaches were discussed from 3 perspectives of waterfront space planning control, waterfront space design optimization, and improvement of waterfront landscape, then the planning and design strategies of urban waterfront spaces were explored by studying the comprehensive waterfront space regulation project of the Old Huan River in Hubei,so as to provide references for the comprehensive water system regulation and space planning and construction of urban waterfront spaces. 展开更多

Hydropower gains increasing importance as a steerable and controllable power source in a renewable energy mix and deregulated markets. Although hydropower produces fossil-free energy, it has a significant impact on the local environment. This review investigates the effects of flow alterations by hydropower on the downstream river system and the possibilities to integrate these effects into hydraulic modeling. The results show that various effects of flow regulation on the ecosystem, but also social and economic effects on related communities were observed in the last decades. The application of hydraulic models for investigations of ecological effects is common. Especially hydraulic effects and effects on fish were extensively modeled with the help of hydraulic 1D- and 2D-simulations. Current applications to investigate social and economic effects integrated into hydraulic modeling are meanwhile limited. Approaches to realizing this integration are presented. Further research on the economic valuation of ecosystems and integration of social and economic effects to hydraulic models is necessary to develop holistic tools to support decision-making on sustainable hydropower. 展开更多

Hungary is located in the deepest part of the Pannonian Basin, which is affected by floodwaters.Lowland areas are particularly vulnerable to floods. Many natural and anthropogenic processes have contributed to the formation of these flood patches, after river regulation(decisively from the middle of 18th century)and continue to affect them. The objective of this research is to reveal the processes of landscape-change in areas of waterlogging,or areas threatened by excess water inundation in order to establish methods of adaptive excess water management. The analysis focuses on examining the previously prevalent land-use structure and linear infrastructure elements(green, blue infrastructures)of the past 200-250 years that can be identified using historical, military maps and aerial photos.Historical maps compare different periods of 50-60 years prevalence. As a result of this analysis, the role of watercourses in shaping landscapes and human intervention process can be monitored and supported with maps including data. The processing consisted of geographic information system(GIS)methods:georeference the historical maps and digitalize the well-separable land-uses of the sample area. The results confirmed the process of landscape-change and the trend of green areas:cultivated areas and the spread of settlements. In conclusion,landscape-changing analyses of landscape-changes provide valuable data onto identifying changes in land-use,which are complemented by hydrological databases, especially those related to waterlogging areas,as they adequately support adaptive excess water management methods in areas with specific characteristics. The results show which land-uses can be considered as permanent, stable land-uses in the given sample area and broach whether changes within the green and blue infrastructure network contribute to the increase or decrease of excess water formation. 展开更多

In the past decades, two large scale coastal engineering projects have been carried out in the Deep Bay surrounded by Shenzhen City and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. One project is Shenzhen River channel regulation and the other is the sea reclamation along the seashore on the Shenzhen side. The two projects are very close to the two national nature reserves, specifically Futian in Shenzhen and Mai Po in Hong Kong, which are important wetland ecosystems worldwide. This paper aims to identify and monitor the mangrove wetland changes with time series of Landsat Thematic Mapper images pre and post to the two engineering projects being launched. Coupled analysis of the image interpretation results and tidal data acquired at the same time in the context of the two works reveals that the mangrove wetland area has increased from year 1989 to 1994, and has changed little from year 1994 to 2002. Binary coding is applied to reveal the distribution image of mangrove at each phase, and the coding image shows that the construction of the two coastal engineering projects has caused frequent changes in mangrove spatial distribution. The study also shows that the change is not significant regarding to the precision of the method and the natural evolution of mangrove wetland, and the projects do not cause apparently influences upon the two national mangrove conservation zones at least for the research time period. 展开更多
