In this study,the Mg-3Zn-0.5Zr-χNd(χ=0,0.6)alloys were subjected to final rolling treatment with large deformation of 50%.The impact of annealing temperatures on the microstructure and mechanical properties was inve...In this study,the Mg-3Zn-0.5Zr-χNd(χ=0,0.6)alloys were subjected to final rolling treatment with large deformation of 50%.The impact of annealing temperatures on the microstructure and mechanical properties was investigated.The rolled Mg-3Zn-0.5Zr-0.6Nd alloy exhibited an ultimate tensile strength of 386 MPa,a yield strength of 361 MPa,and an elongation of 7.1%.Annealing at different temperatures resulted in reduced strength and obviously increased elongation for both alloys.Optimal mechanical properties for the Mg-3Zn-0.5Zr-0.6Nd alloy were achieved after annealing at 200℃,with an ultimate tensile strength of 287 MPa,a yield strength of 235 MPa,and an elongation of 26.1%.The numerous deformed microstructures,twins,and precipitated phases in the rolled alloy could impede the deformation at room temperature and increase the work hardening rate.After annealing,a decrease in the work hardening effect and an increase in the dynamic recovery effect were obtained due to the formation of fine equiaxed grains,and the increased volume fraction of precipitated phases,which significantly improved the elongation of the alloy.Additionally,the addition of Nd element could enhance the annealing recrystallization rate,reduce the Schmid factor difference between basal and prismatic slip systems,facilitate multi-system slip initiation and improve the alloy plasticity.展开更多
Semi-solid powder rolling(SSPR) is a novel strip manufacturing process,which includes the features of semi-solid rolling and powder rolling.In this work,densification process and deformation mechanisms of B4 C and A...Semi-solid powder rolling(SSPR) is a novel strip manufacturing process,which includes the features of semi-solid rolling and powder rolling.In this work,densification process and deformation mechanisms of B4 C and AA2024 mixed powders in the presence of liquid phase were investigated.The relationships between relative densities and rolling forces were analyzed as well.The results show that liquid fraction plays an important role in the densification process which can be divided into three stages.Rolling deformation is the main densification mechanism in deformation area when the liquid fraction is lower than 20%.When the liquid fraction is equal to or higher than 20%,the flowing and filling of liquid phase are the densification mechanisms in deformation area.The relative densities increase with increasing rolling forces.The relative density–rolling force curves are similar at 550 °C and 585 °C.The characteristics of the curve shapes are apparently different at 605 °C and 625 °C.展开更多
Due to its highly favorable physical and chemical properties,titanium and titanium alloy are widely used in a variety of industries.Because of the low output of a single batch,plate cold rolling without tension is the...Due to its highly favorable physical and chemical properties,titanium and titanium alloy are widely used in a variety of industries.Because of the low output of a single batch,plate cold rolling without tension is the most common rolling production method for titanium alloy.This method is lack of on-line thickness closed-loop control,with carefully thickness setting models for precision.A set of high-precision thickness setting models are proposed to suit the production method.Because of frequent variations in rolling specification,a model structural for the combination of analytical models and statistical models is adopted to replace the traditional self-learning method.The deformation resistance and friction factor,the primary factors which affect model precision,are considered as the objectives of statistical modeling.Firstly,the coefficient fitting of deformation resistance analytical model based on over-determined equations set is adopted.Additionally,a support vector machine(SVM)is applied to the modeling of the deformation resistance and friction factor.The setting models are applied to a 1450 plate-coiling mill for titanium alloy plate rolling,and then thickness precision is found consistently to be within 3%,exceeding the precision of traditional setting models with a self-learning method based on a large number of stable rolling data.Excellent application performance is obtained.The proposed research provides a set of high-precision thickness setting models which are well adapted to the characteristics of titanium alloy plate cold rolling without tension.展开更多

In order to analyze the dynamic property of roll system's flexural deformation, it is necessary to consider the transverse periodic movement of stock in the rolling deformation area which is caused by the flexural deformation movement of roll system simul- taneously. Therefore, the displacement field of roll system and flow of metal in the deformation area is described by kinematic analysis in the dynamic system. Through intro- ducing the lateral displacement function of metal in the deformation area, the dynamic variation of per unit width rolling force can be determined at the same time. Then the coupling law caused by the co-effect of rigid movement and flexural deformation of the system structural elements is determined. Furthermore, a multi-parameter coupling dynamic model of the roll system and stock is established by the principle of virtual work. More explicitly, the cou- pled motion modal analysis was made for the roll system. Meanwhile, the analytical solutions for the flexural defor- mation movement's mode shape functions of rolls are discussed. In addition, the dynamic characteristic of the lateral flow of metal in the rolling deformation area has been analyzed at the same time. The results showed that the rolling texture consisted of a strong β-fibre close to {111} <uvw> and a {001} <110> texture. In annealing process the rolling texture was strengthened at recovery stage and gradually disappeared during primary recrystallization. A strong shear texture was produced by only 20% Pass reduction, indicating that the Fe3Al is sensitive to shear stress. The corresponding room temperature tensile properties were measured. Traditional calculation methods of roll deformation, such as the finite element method and the influence function method, have been widely used due to their accuracies. However, the required calculation time is too long to be applied to the realtime control. Therefore, a rapid calculation method for predicting roll deformation of a six-high rolling mill was proposed, which employed the finite difference method to calculate the roll deflection and used a polynomial to describe the nonlinear relationship between roll flattening and roll contact pressure. Furthermore, a new correction strategy was proposed in the iteration, where the roll center flattening and the roll flattening deviation were put forward and corrected simultaneously in the iteration process according to the static equilibrium of roll. Finally, by the comparison with traditional methods, the proposed method was proved to be more efficient and it was suitable for the online calculation of the strip shape control.展开更多

In order to study the feasibility of PM + ring rolling combined process for preparing Ti_2AlNb rings, thermal mechanical simulation tests of PM Ti_2AlNb alloys were conducted and two rectangular PM rings(150 mm in height, 75 mm in thickness,350 mm in external diameter) were rolled as a validation experiment. Experimental results show that the flow stress of Ti_2AlNb alloys exhibited a significant drop at the very beginning of the deformation(true strain/0.1), and became stable with the increase in strain. Stress instability phenomenon of PM Ti_2AlNb alloys was more obvious than that of wrought alloy. Flow stress fluctuation at the initial stage of deformation is related to phase transition of Ti_2AlNb alloys which strongly depends on heat treatment and thermal mechanical deformation process. Processing windows during initial stage of ring rolling process is very crucial. A sound PM Ti_2AlNb rectangular ring blank(height = 150 mm, thickness = 30 mm, external diameter = 750 mm) was successfully rolled in two passes by using the improved heat preservation method and optimized rolling parameters. Tensile properties of PM Ti_2AlNb alloy were improved, and the porosity was reduced after ring rolling.展开更多
A systematic study has been conducted aiming to attain an insight into the influence of coefficient of roll speed asymmetry, crystal orientation and structure on the deformation behavior, and crystallographic orientat...A systematic study has been conducted aiming to attain an insight into the influence of coefficient of roll speed asymmetry, crystal orientation and structure on the deformation behavior, and crystallographic orientation development during foil rolling. Simulations were successfully carried out by using crystal plasticity finite element method(CPFEM),and a novel computational framework is presented for the representation of virtual polycrystalline grain structures. It has been found that asymmetric rolling(ASR) is more efficient in producing plastic deformation since it develops additional shear strain and activity of slip system compared with symmetric rolling(SR). For ASR, increase in the length of the shear zone, and decrease in the amount of the pressure and roll force would lead to further reduction. The shear strain path in SR and ASR is strictly influenced by the misorientation of neighbor grains, and corresponding {1 1 1} pole figures offer direct evidence of the spread of crystallographic orientation around the normal direction. The activity of slip systems was examined in detail and found that the predicted results are consistent with the surface layer model. The accuracy of the developed CPFEM model is verified by the fact that the simulated results of roll force coincide well with the experimental results.展开更多

The influences of rolling parameters, such as the velocity ratio of upper to lower rolls, the initial temperature of workpiece and the reduction rate, on the shear deformation of three nodes in the upper, center and lower layers were discussed. As the rolling parameters change, distinct shear deformation appears in the upper and lower layers, but the shear deformation in the center layer appears only when the velocity ratio is more than 1.00, and the absolute value of the shear stress in this layer is changed with rolling parameters. A mathematical model which reflected the change of the maximal absolute shear stress for the center layer was established, by which the maximal absolute shear stress for the center layer can be easily calculated and the appropriate rolling technology can be designed.展开更多
This paper reported an effectiveness of pre-cold rolling-induced{332}/113[twins combined with subsequent isothermal x-phase formation for enhancement of uniform elongation in a b-type Ti–15Mo alloy with high yield s...This paper reported an effectiveness of pre-cold rolling-induced{332}/113[twins combined with subsequent isothermal x-phase formation for enhancement of uniform elongation in a b-type Ti–15Mo alloy with high yield strength level.Mechanical{332}/113[twins were induced by cold rolling with an thickness reduction of 5%,which had little effect on x-phase precipitation after aging at 573 K for 3.6 ks.Twinning after the cold rolling was further activated during tensile deformation,even with the presence of isothermal x-phase.This combination of twins and x-phase enhanced uniform elongation from 0 to 9%at yield strength level of 890 MPa.The high yield strength was mainly dominated by dislocation slip due to the isothermal x-phase formation,and early onset of plastic instability after yielding was hindered due to the pre-cold rolling-induced twins.Dynamic microstructural refinement was induced by further twinning activation during deformation,which resulted in high work hardening rate corresponding enhancement of uniform elongation.展开更多

The annealed Fe-36Ni steel was rolled at cryogenic temperature( 123-173 K) with 20%- 90% rolling reduction in thickness.The deformation process was accompanied by twinning at cryogenic temperature,and the mean thickness of deformation twins was about 200 nm with 20% rolling reduction. When the rolling reduction was above 40%,twinning was suppressed due to the stress concentration in the tested steel. Deformation microstructure of Fe-36Ni steel consisted of both twin boundaries and dislocations by cryogenic rolling( CR),while it only contained dislocations after rolling at room temperature( RT). The tensile strength of Fe-36Ni steel was improved to 930 MPa after 90% reduction at cryogenic temperature,while the tensile strength after 90% reduction at RT was only 760 MPa. More dislocations could be produced as the nucleation sites of recrystallization during CR process.展开更多
A model of deformation resistance during hot strip rolling was established based on generalized additive model.Firstly,a data modeling method based on generalized additive model was given.It included the selection of ...A model of deformation resistance during hot strip rolling was established based on generalized additive model.Firstly,a data modeling method based on generalized additive model was given.It included the selection of dependent variable and independent variables of the model,the link function of dependent variable and smoothing functional form of each independent variable,estimating process of the link function and smooth functions,and the last model modification.Then,the practical modeling test was carried out based on a large amount of hot rolling process data.An integrated variable was proposed to reflect the effects of different chemical compositions such as carbon,silicon,manganese,nickel,chromium,niobium,etc.The integrated chemical composition,strain,strain rate and rolling temperature were selected as independent variables and the cubic spline as the smooth function for them.The modeling process of deformation resistance was realized by SAS software,and the influence curves of the independent variables on deformation resistance were obtained by local scoring algorithm.Some interesting phenomena were found,for example,there is a critical value of strain rate,and the deformation resistance increases before this value and then decreases.The results confirm that the new model has higher prediction accuracy than traditional ones and is suitable for carbon steel,microalloyed steel,alloyed steel and other steel grades.展开更多

Be- cause the shape and rolling force distribution are very sensitive to strip thickness transverse distribution% variation, the iterative course is rather unstable and sometimes convergence cannot be achieved. In addition, the calculating speed of results coupling method is low, which restricts its usable range. To solve the problem, a new model cou- pling method is developed, which takes the force distribution between rolls, rolling force distribution and strip's exit transverse displacement distribution as basic unknowns, and integrates strip plastic deformation model and rolls elas- tic deformation model as a unified linear equations through their internal relation, so the iterative calculation between the strip plastic deformation model and rolls elastic deformation model can be avoided. To prove the effectiveness of the model coupling method, two examples are calculated by results coupling method and model coupling method re- spectively. The results of front tension stress, back tension stress, strip^s exit gauge, the force between rolls and rolling force distribution calculated by model coupling method coincide very well with results coupling method. How- ever the calculation course of model coupling method is more steady than results coupling method, and its calculating speed is about ten times as much as the maximal speed of results coupling method, which validates its practicability and reliability.展开更多

The hot ductility of 6061 aluminum alloy,which was subjected to two different severe plastic deformations(SPD),was studied at different temperatures and strain rates.The tensile tests were carried out at the tempera...The hot ductility of 6061 aluminum alloy,which was subjected to two different severe plastic deformations(SPD),was studied at different temperatures and strain rates.The tensile tests were carried out at the temperature range of 300-500 ℃ and at the strain rates of 0.0005-0.01 s^(-1).The microstructure evolution was characterized using optical microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction technique.The influences of the microstructure after SPD,thermomechanical parameters(temperature and strain rate) and specimen size on the hot formability of this alloy were then analyzed.The results show that a decrease in grains/subgrains exhibited significant effect on the hot ductility of SPDed samples.The constitutive equations were then developed to model the hot formability of the studied alloy.The developed model can be represented by Zener-Hollomon parameter in a hyperbolic sinusoidal equation form.Both the changes of elongation to failure and Zener-Hollomon parameter indicate that the hot ductility of the alloy is more sensitive to the temperature rather than to the strain rate.The uniform elongation is independent of the specimen size,but the postnecking elongation increases dramatically as the ratio of l/A^(1/2) decreases.展开更多

In order to study the feasibility of PM + ring rolling combined process for preparing Ti_2AlNb rings, thermal mechanical simulation tests of PM Ti_2AlNb alloys were conducted and two rectangular PM rings(150 mm in height, 75 mm in thickness,350 mm in external diameter) were rolled as a validation experiment. Experimental results show that the flow stress of Ti_2AlNb alloys exhibited a significant drop at the very beginning of the deformation(true strain/0.1), and became stable with the increase in strain. Stress instability phenomenon of PM Ti_2AlNb alloys was more obvious than that of wrought alloy. Flow stress fluctuation at the initial stage of deformation is related to phase transition of Ti_2AlNb alloys which strongly depends on heat treatment and thermal mechanical deformation process. Processing windows during initial stage of ring rolling process is very crucial. A sound PM Ti_2AlNb rectangular ring blank(height = 150 mm, thickness = 30 mm, external diameter = 750 mm) was successfully rolled in two passes by using the improved heat preservation method and optimized rolling parameters. Tensile properties of PM Ti_2AlNb alloy were improved, and the porosity was reduced after ring rolling.

文摘A systematic study has been conducted aiming to attain an insight into the influence of coefficient of roll speed asymmetry, crystal orientation and structure on the deformation behavior, and crystallographic orientation development during foil rolling. Simulations were successfully carried out by using crystal plasticity finite element method(CPFEM),and a novel computational framework is presented for the representation of virtual polycrystalline grain structures. It has been found that asymmetric rolling(ASR) is more efficient in producing plastic deformation since it develops additional shear strain and activity of slip system compared with symmetric rolling(SR). For ASR, increase in the length of the shear zone, and decrease in the amount of the pressure and roll force would lead to further reduction. The shear strain path in SR and ASR is strictly influenced by the misorientation of neighbor grains, and corresponding {1 1 1} pole figures offer direct evidence of the spread of crystallographic orientation around the normal direction. The activity of slip systems was examined in detail and found that the predicted results are consistent with the surface layer model. The accuracy of the developed CPFEM model is verified by the fact that the simulated results of roll force coincide well with the experimental results.

文摘Based on the rigid-plastic finite element method(FEM), the shear stress field of deformation region for high manganese austenite steel during hot asymmetrical rolling process was analyzed. The influences of rolling parameters, such as the velocity ratio of upper to lower rolls, the initial temperature of workpiece and the reduction rate, on the shear deformation of three nodes in the upper, center and lower layers were discussed. As the rolling parameters change, distinct shear deformation appears in the upper and lower layers, but the shear deformation in the center layer appears only when the velocity ratio is more than 1.00, and the absolute value of the shear stress in this layer is changed with rolling parameters. A mathematical model which reflected the change of the maximal absolute shear stress for the center layer was established, by which the maximal absolute shear stress for the center layer can be easily calculated and the appropriate rolling technology can be designed.

文摘This paper reported an effectiveness of pre-cold rolling-induced{332}/113[twins combined with subsequent isothermal x-phase formation for enhancement of uniform elongation in a b-type Ti–15Mo alloy with high yield strength level.Mechanical{332}/113[twins were induced by cold rolling with an thickness reduction of 5%,which had little effect on x-phase precipitation after aging at 573 K for 3.6 ks.Twinning after the cold rolling was further activated during tensile deformation,even with the presence of isothermal x-phase.This combination of twins and x-phase enhanced uniform elongation from 0 to 9%at yield strength level of 890 MPa.The high yield strength was mainly dominated by dislocation slip due to the isothermal x-phase formation,and early onset of plastic instability after yielding was hindered due to the pre-cold rolling-induced twins.Dynamic microstructural refinement was induced by further twinning activation during deformation,which resulted in high work hardening rate corresponding enhancement of uniform elongation.

文摘Microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of cryogenic rolled Fe-36Ni steel were investigated. The annealed Fe-36Ni steel was rolled at cryogenic temperature( 123-173 K) with 20%- 90% rolling reduction in thickness.The deformation process was accompanied by twinning at cryogenic temperature,and the mean thickness of deformation twins was about 200 nm with 20% rolling reduction. When the rolling reduction was above 40%,twinning was suppressed due to the stress concentration in the tested steel. Deformation microstructure of Fe-36Ni steel consisted of both twin boundaries and dislocations by cryogenic rolling( CR),while it only contained dislocations after rolling at room temperature( RT). The tensile strength of Fe-36Ni steel was improved to 930 MPa after 90% reduction at cryogenic temperature,while the tensile strength after 90% reduction at RT was only 760 MPa. More dislocations could be produced as the nucleation sites of recrystallization during CR process.

文摘A model of deformation resistance during hot strip rolling was established based on generalized additive model.Firstly,a data modeling method based on generalized additive model was given.It included the selection of dependent variable and independent variables of the model,the link function of dependent variable and smoothing functional form of each independent variable,estimating process of the link function and smooth functions,and the last model modification.Then,the practical modeling test was carried out based on a large amount of hot rolling process data.An integrated variable was proposed to reflect the effects of different chemical compositions such as carbon,silicon,manganese,nickel,chromium,niobium,etc.The integrated chemical composition,strain,strain rate and rolling temperature were selected as independent variables and the cubic spline as the smooth function for them.The modeling process of deformation resistance was realized by SAS software,and the influence curves of the independent variables on deformation resistance were obtained by local scoring algorithm.Some interesting phenomena were found,for example,there is a critical value of strain rate,and the deformation resistance increases before this value and then decreases.The results confirm that the new model has higher prediction accuracy than traditional ones and is suitable for carbon steel,microalloyed steel,alloyed steel and other steel grades.

文摘The shape of strip is calculated by iterative method which combines strip plastic deformation model with rolls elastic deformation model through their calculation results, which can be called results coupling method. Be- cause the shape and rolling force distribution are very sensitive to strip thickness transverse distribution% variation, the iterative course is rather unstable and sometimes convergence cannot be achieved. In addition, the calculating speed of results coupling method is low, which restricts its usable range. To solve the problem, a new model cou- pling method is developed, which takes the force distribution between rolls, rolling force distribution and strip's exit transverse displacement distribution as basic unknowns, and integrates strip plastic deformation model and rolls elas- tic deformation model as a unified linear equations through their internal relation, so the iterative calculation between the strip plastic deformation model and rolls elastic deformation model can be avoided. To prove the effectiveness of the model coupling method, two examples are calculated by results coupling method and model coupling method re- spectively. The results of front tension stress, back tension stress, strip^s exit gauge, the force between rolls and rolling force distribution calculated by model coupling method coincide very well with results coupling method. How- ever the calculation course of model coupling method is more steady than results coupling method, and its calculating speed is about ten times as much as the maximal speed of results coupling method, which validates its practicability and reliability.

文摘The effect of thermomechanical processing(TMP)on the mechanical properties of hot rolled multiphase steel was investigated.TMP was conducted using a laboratory hot rolling mill,in which three different kinds of finish rolling deformation degrees and temperatures were applied.The results indicate that polygonal ferrite,granular bainite,and a considerable amount of stabilized retained austenite can be obtained by TMP.The stability of the retained austenite increases with decreasing finish rolling temperature and increasing finish rolling deformation degrees.Ultimate tensile strength(σb),total elongation(δ),and the product of ultimate tensile strength by total elongation(σb·δ)for 50% reduction at finish rolling temperature of 700 ℃ reach maximum values [791 MPa,36% and 28 476(MPa·%),respectively].
文摘The hot ductility of 6061 aluminum alloy,which was subjected to two different severe plastic deformations(SPD),was studied at different temperatures and strain rates.The tensile tests were carried out at the temperature range of 300-500 ℃ and at the strain rates of 0.0005-0.01 s^(-1).The microstructure evolution was characterized using optical microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction technique.The influences of the microstructure after SPD,thermomechanical parameters(temperature and strain rate) and specimen size on the hot formability of this alloy were then analyzed.The results show that a decrease in grains/subgrains exhibited significant effect on the hot ductility of SPDed samples.The constitutive equations were then developed to model the hot formability of the studied alloy.The developed model can be represented by Zener-Hollomon parameter in a hyperbolic sinusoidal equation form.Both the changes of elongation to failure and Zener-Hollomon parameter indicate that the hot ductility of the alloy is more sensitive to the temperature rather than to the strain rate.The uniform elongation is independent of the specimen size,but the postnecking elongation increases dramatically as the ratio of l/A^(1/2) decreases.
