Methods This study selected the cheek, nose, and forehead as representative facial sites for UV irradiance measurements, which were performed using a rotating manikin and a spectroradiometer. The measured UV irradiance was weighted using action spectra to calculate the biologically effective UV irradiances that cause non-melanoma (UVBEnon.rnel) skin cancer. The biologically effective UV radiant exposure (HBEnon-mel) was calculated by summing the UVBEnon-mel data collected over the exposure period. Results This study revealed the following: (1) the maximum cheek, nose and forehead exposure UVA and UVB irradiance times and solar elevation angles (SEA) differed from those of the ambient UV irradiance and were influenced by the rotation angles; (2) the UV irradiance exposure increased in the following order: cheek 〈 nose 〈 forehead; (3) the distribution of UVBEnon-mel irradiance differed from that of unweighted UV radiation (UVR) and was influenced by the rotation angles and exposure times; and (4) the maximum percentage decreases in the UVBEnon-melradiant exposure for the cheek, nose and forehead from 0° to 180° were 48.41%, 69.48% and 71.71%, respectively. Conclusion Rotation angles relative to the sun influence the face's exposure to non-melanoma biologically effective UV.展开更多

The end-surface contactratio of gears is defined as the ratio of the action angle (the rotation angle of gear from gear-into gear-out for one pair of teeth) to the rotation angle per pitch (or central angle per tooth).According to the theory of gearing, equation of the meshing line can be deduced from the toothprofiles of basic rack. This work studies the three-dimensional stability of rigidly fixed bridge under the stresses of distributed loads and concentrated loads by optical method that gives the tip angle and rotation angle calculated directly based on measurement data. Methods: The specimen, taken from a 25-year-old male, was a left mandible without the second premolars and the first molars. As abutments, first premolar and second molar have complete periodontium. The specimen was soaked in formaldehyde solution. The bridge was fixed between two abutment teeth (first premolars and second molars), and the mandible was cemented in a steel box. The load was increased from 0 kg to 23 kg. Laser holographic technique was used to measure the three-dimensional bit shift of the dens, both buccolingual bit shift and mesiodistal bit shift, and determine tip angle and rotation angle. Results: The effects of stress distribution on the rigidly fixed bridge were evaluated, and stabilization of the bridge under the stresses of distributed loads and concentrated loads, respectively, were analyzed. The results showed that the tips of two abutments were very similar, and no distinct difference was observed between the distributed load and the concentrated load. However, the maximum rotation angle for the distributed load was two to four times as large as that for the concentrated load. In the experiment, the tip angle of the abutment teeth was no more than 0.65 degree, and the rotation angle was no more than 0.60 degree. All maximum angles occurred in the second molar. Conclusion: The fixed bridge is considered to be safe. In addition, a method for measuring the rotation angle was provided effectively.展开更多

A partial reinforced concrete system of a weak beam/strong column moment frame is chosen as an example. A pushover analysis is carried out in order to numerically examine both the story shear-relative displacement characteristics and the associated damage level. In the analysis, a two dimensional nonlinear finite element analysis is employed considering several constitutive models. As a result, the degradation of the stiffness at the damaged story is characterized in association with the story relative displacement. It is also pointed out that the rotation angle of the column-base is highly correlated with the story relative displacement. Based on the analytical findings, quantitative approaches for a structural health monitoring system are suggested considering both the current sensor technologies and those available in the future. Based on the latest and the most advanced research on predicting potential near-field and far field earthquakes affecting Hong Kong, the engineering response spectra for both rock and soil sites are derived. A new step-by-step procedure for displacement-based seismic hazard assessment of building structures is proposed to determine the maximum inter-storey drift demand for reinforced concrete buildings. The primary information required for this assessment is only the depth of the soft soil above bedrock and the height of the building. This procedure is further extended to assess the maximum chord rotation angle demand for the coupling beam of coupled shear wall or frame wall structures, which may be very critical when subjected to earthquake forces. An example is provided to illustrate calibration of the assessment procedure by using actual engineering structural models.展开更多

The electromagnetic properties, including the rotation angles, the axial ratios and the complex chirality parameters, were measured by using a circular waveguide method in the 8.5-11.0 GHz frequency range. The dependence of these electromagnetic properties on the frequency and the concentration of the Fe3O4 in the composite matrix were analyzed. The results show that an appropriate concentration of Fe3O4 in the matrix is useful in improving the electromagnetic properties of the chiral material.展开更多

The effects of Nd substitution on the magnetic and magneto-optical properties of TbCo/Cr films were investigated. It was found that partial Tb substitution by Nd would increase the saturation magnetization and the Kerr rotation angle, change the temperature dependence of magneto-optical characteristics. These results can be explained by the ferrimagnetic structure of the rare earth-transition metal alloy. When the magnetic layer composition was (Nd0.265Tb0.735)31Co69, a saturation magnetization of 247 emu/cm^3 and a coercivity of 3.8 kOe at room temperature could be obtained.展开更多

Recently, the phonon properties of twisted graphene have received a great deal of attention. To the best of our knowledge, thermal transports in twisted graphene have been investigated little to date. Here, we study perpendicular and parallel transports in twisted few-layer graphene(T-FLG). It is found that perpendicular and parallel transports are both sensitive to the rotation angle θ between layers. When θ increases from 0° to 60°, perpendicular thermal conductivity κ(||) first decreases and then increases, and the transition angle is θ = 30°. For the parallel transport, the relation between thermal conductivity κand θ is complicated, because intra-layer thermal transport is more sensitive to the edge of layer than their stacking forms. However, the dependence of interlayer scattering on θ is similar to that of κ⊥. In addition, the effect of layer number on the thermal transport is discussed. Our results may provide references for designing the devices of thermal insulation and thermal management based on graphene.展开更多

This study investigates the influences of rotation angles (θ = 0°, 45°, 90°, 105°) on the surface morphology, microstructure, and mechanical properties of Inconel 718 (IN718) alloy produced by HP-LPBF. Results show that adopting low rotation angles (e.g., 0° and 45°) is prone to relatively poor surface finish and lack-of-fusion defects, whereas adopting high rotation angles (e.g., 90° and 105°) induces smaller surface roughness and better relative density. Each case reveals a noticeable edge effect but the maximal heights witness a downward trend with the increase of rotation angle. There are some minor differences in the primary dendrite arm spacing and grain morphology by varying the rotation angles. Moreover, the tensile property is slightly enhanced as the rotation angle increases. The present work suggests that high rotation angles like 90° and 105° would probably be more favorable for the 1 kW HP-LPBF process than rotation angles with relatively low values.展开更多

The FBG rotation angle sensor mainly contains two core sensitivity elements (FBG1 and FBG2), triangular cantilever beam, and rotation angle transfer element. In theory, the proposed sensor can achieve temperature self-compensation by complementation of the two core sensitivity elements (FBG1 and FBG2), and it has a boundless angel measurement range with 2π rad period duo to the function of the rotation angle transfer element. Based on introducing the joint working processes, the theory calculation model of the FBG rotation angel sensor is established, and the calibration experiment on one prototype is also carried out to obtain its measurement performance. After experimental data analyses, the measurement precision of the FBG rotation angle sensor prototype is 0.2° with excellent linearity, and the temperature sensitivities of FBG1 and FBG2 are 10 pro2℃ and 10.1 pm/℃, correspondingly. All these experimental results confirm that the FBG rotation angle sensor can achieve large-range angle measurement with high precision and temperature self-compensation.展开更多

The blade element theory and momentum theory were combined to obtain the equation from which the translational aerodynamic force could be esti- mated. This equation was converted into a non-dimensional form, so that the effect of normalized parameters on the thrust coefficient could be analyzed. The research showed that the thrust coefficient for a given wing section depends on two factors, the rotation angle of the wing section and the ratio of the chord to the travel distance of the wing section in one flapping cycle. For each ratio that we investigated, we could arrive at an optimal rotation angle corresponding to a maximum thrust coefficient. This study may be able to provide guidance for the FWMAV design.展开更多

It was found that when some blades had rotation angle deviations, the hydraulic performance curves of the mixed-flow pump would move. With a positive deviation, the curves moved towards the large flow rate; with a negative deviation, the curves moved towards the small flow rate. When some blades had rotation angle deviations, the symmetry and uniformity of the pressure distribution inside the mixed-flow pump flow passage both decreased; the larger the deviation, the greater the decrease. When a single blade had a large rotation angle deviation, a rather clear low pressure area was formed, lowering the cavitation performance. When two adjacent blades changed simultaneously, under the small flow rate condition, adverse pressure gradient and flow separation occurred in the flow field, and a hump appeared in the head curve and the operation stability of the mixed-flow pump dropped significantly. Near the best efficiency point(BEP), the simultaneous change of two alternate blades produced a more significant change of pressure in the flow passage, with an even larger area. Compared to the effect of two adjacent blades, two alternate blades, when changed simultaneously, made the mixed-flow pump slightly less efficient, but with a flatter efficiency curve and relatively wider high efficiency area. By fitting the test results, a functional relation among the BEP of the mixed-flow pump QBEP, the number of deviated blades N, and blade rotation angle deviation α was established, thus realizing an effective prediction of the BEP of the mixed-flow pump when blade rotation angles have deviations.展开更多

The dependence of these electromagnetic properties on the frequency and the concentration of the Fe3O4 in the composite matrix were analyzed. The results show that an appropriate concentration of Fe3O4 in the matrix is useful in improving the electromagnetic properties of the chiral material.

文摘NdTbCo/Cr amorphous films with high perpendicular magnetic anisotropy were prepared onto glass substrates by rf magnetron sputtering. When the magnetic layer composition was (Nd0.265Tb0.735)31Co69, a saturation magnetization of 247 emu/cm^3 and a coercivity of 3.8 kOe at room temperature could be obtained.

文摘The challenge in the practical application of rocking foundations is the estimation of its performance, particularly the rotation angle, during a strong earthquake. In this study, the dynamic rocking behavior for a shallow foundation considering structural response was evaluated through two analytical approaches:the conventional soil-foundation-structure interaction(SFSI)governing equation of a single-degree-of-freedom(SDOF)structure on a rocking shallow foundation, and the Housner rocking model(i.e.,a rocking rigid block on a rigid base). Both approaches were validated with dynamic centrifuge tests. The test models consisted of a soft soil deposit,a shallow rectangular foundation, and an SDOF structure dominated by a bending behavior.A total of 11 foundation-structure systems and six seismic waves, including recorded earthquake signals and sinusoidal waves, were utilized. The results showed that the conventional SFSI equation well predicted the maximum rotation during strong earthquakes. However, this method was less accurate regarding the rotational phase information and maximum rotation of the foundation during weak earthquakes. On the other hand, although the modified Housner′s rocking model required five parameters relevant to a soil-foundation-structure system,it overestimated the maximum rotation of the foundation when compared with the results from dynamic centrifuge tests.
文摘The GdFeCo and NdGdFeCo thin films were prepared by sputtering, and their hysteresis loops, the temperature dependence of the saturation magnetization Ms and the magneto-optical Kerr spectrum in the visible light range were measured. By studying the effects of light rare earth element Nd doping on the magneto-optical Kerr rotation angle of GdFeCo thin films, it is found that proper Nd additives in GdFeCo films could enhance Kerr rotation at short wavelengths. So it could be better medium used as the readout layer of center aperture detection magnetically induced super resolution (CAD-MSR).

文摘Twisted graphene possesses unique electronic properties and applications, which have been studied extensively. Our results may provide references for designing the devices of thermal insulation and thermal management based on graphene.
文摘Rotation angle of the laser scan direction between two adjacent layers is a key controlling parameter during the high-power (≥ 1 kW) laser powder bed fusion (HP-LPBF) process. The present work suggests that high rotation angles like 90° and 105° would probably be more favorable for the 1 kW HP-LPBF process than rotation angles with relatively low values.

文摘In this work,we propose multiple rotation averaging using only the relative rotation angle, which is a straightforward camera pose optimization method. We use the axis-angle representation to parameterize the rotation and use only relative rotation angles to constrain absolute rotations instead of complete relative rotations. When used with an inertial measurement unit(IMU),our method can obviate the need to estimate and maintain extrinsic parameters between the camera and IMU.This advantage makes our method immune to extrinsic parameters and flexible. We performed extensive evaluations on both synthetic data and publicly available real datasets, which showed that our method was comparable with the state-of-the-art method and achieved a significant gain in accuracy for the visual measurement when applied to the case in which the camera and IMU are tightly fixed.

文摘In order to achieve rotation angle measurement, one novel type of miniaturization fiber Bragg grating (FBG) rotation angle sensor with high measurement precision and temperature self-compensation is proposed and studied in this paper. All these experimental results confirm that the FBG rotation angle sensor can achieve large-range angle measurement with high precision and temperature self-compensation.
文摘This paper provides a parametric study to obtain the optimal wing rotation angle for the generation of maximum transla- tional force in an insect-mimicking Flapping-Wing Micro Air Vehicle (FWMAV) during hovering. This study may be able to provide guidance for the FWMAV design.

文摘By model test and numerical simulation, this paper analyzed the effects of different blades with varying rotation angle deviations on the hydraulic performance of a mixed-flow pump. By fitting the test results, a functional relation among the BEP of the mixed-flow pump QBEP, the number of deviated blades N, and blade rotation angle deviation α was established, thus realizing an effective prediction of the BEP of the mixed-flow pump when blade rotation angles have deviations.
