This paper proposes a modified iterative learning control(MILC)periodical feedback-feedforward algorithm to reduce the vibration of a rotor caused by coupled unbalance and parallel misalignment.The control of the vibration of the rotor is provided by an active magnetic actuator(AMA).The iterative gain of the MILC algorithm here presented has a self-adjustment based on the magnitude of the vibration.Notch filters are adopted to extract the synchronous(1×Ω)and twice rotational frequency(2×Ω)components of the rotor vibration.Both the notch frequency of the filter and the size of feedforward storage used during the experiment have a real-time adaptation to the rotational speed.The method proposed in this work can provide effective suppression of the vibration of the rotor in case of sudden changes or fluctuations of the rotor speed.Simulations and experiments using the MILC algorithm proposed here are carried out and give evidence to the feasibility and robustness of the technique proposed. 展开更多

This paper proposes and implements a model-free open-loop iterative learning control(ILC)strategy to realize the speed control of the single-phase flux switching motor(FSM)with an asymmetrical rotor.Base on the proposed winding control method,the asymmetrical rotor enables the motor to generate continuous positive torque for positive rotation,and relatively small resistance torque for negative rotation.An initial iteration coefficient and variable iteration coefficient optimized scheme was proposed based on the characteristics of the hardware circuit,thereby forming the model-free strategy.A series of prototype experiments was carried out.Experimental results verify the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed ILC strategy. 展开更多

By choosing estimation error of rotor time constant as bifurcation parameter, the conditions of generating Hopf bifurcation in IFOC drives are analyzed. Dynamic responses and Lyapunov exponents show that chaos and limit cycles will arise for some ranges of load torque with certain PI speed controller setting. Stable drives are required for conventional applications, but chaotic rotation can promote efficiency or improve dynamic characteristics of drives. Thus, the study may be a guideline for designing a stable system or an oscillating system. 展开更多

In order to solve the problems of rotor overvoltage,overcurrent and DC side voltage rise caused by grid voltage drops,a coordinated control strategy based on symmetrical and asymmetrical low voltage ride through of rotor side converter of the doubly-fed generator is proposed.When the power grid voltage drops symmetrically,the generator approximate equation under steady-state conditions is no longer applicable.Considering the dynamic process of stator current excitation,according to the change of stator flux and the depth of voltage drop,the system can dynamically provide reactive power support for parallel nodes and suppress the rise of DC side voltage and rotor over-current.When the grid voltage drops asymmetrically,the positive and negative sequence components are separated in the rotating coordinate system.The doubly fed generator model is established to suppress the rotor positive sequence current and negative sequence current respectively.At the same time,the output voltage limit of the converter is discussed,and the reference value is adjusted within the allowable output voltage range.In order to adapt to the occurrence of different types of power grid faults and complex operating conditions,a fast switching module of fault type detection and rotor control mode is designed to detect the type of power grid faults and voltage drop depth in real time and switch the rotor side control mode dynamically.Finally,the simulation model of the doubly fed wind turbine is constructed in Matlab/Simulink.The simulation results verify that the proposed control strategy can improve the low-voltage ride through performance of the system when dealing with the symmetrical and asymmetric voltage drop of the power grid and identify the power grid fault type and provide the correct control strategy. 展开更多

A novel double extended state observers(ESOs)-based field-oriented control(FOC)strategy is developed for three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM)drive systems without any phase current sensor.In principle,two current sensors are essential parts of the drive system for implementation of the feedback to achieve high accuracy control.For this purpose,the double ESOs are created to provide feedback stator currents instead of actual current sensors.The first one of the double ESOs is designed to estimate the benchmark value of q-axis stator current,which is a primary premise;While the second is designed to estimate real-time stator currents of d-axis and q-axis simultaneously.The resultant double ESOs can rapidly and accurately give estimation of the actual currents of a-axis,b-axis and c-axis,and the synthesized double ESOs-based FOC strategy for PMSM drive system without any current sensors has satisfactory control performance and strong robustness.Numerical experiments validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme. 展开更多

Aiming at the position and attitude tracking of coaxial rotor aircraft(CRA),this paper proposes a combinatorial control method of sliding mode control(SMC)coupled with proportional-integralderivative control(PIDC).Considering the complete description of flight dynamics,aerodynamics and airflow interference,the dynamical model of CRA is established.The dynamical model is simplified according to the actual flight,then the simplified dynamical model is divided into two subsystems:a fully-actuated subsystem and an under-actuated subsystem.The controller of the fully-actuated subsystem consists of a SMC controller coupled with a rate bounded PIDC controller,while the controller of the under-actuated subsystem is composed of a SMC controller.The sliding manifold is defined by combining the position and velocity tracking errors of the state variables for each subsystem.Lyapunov stability theory is used to verify the stability of the sliding mode controller,which ensures that all state trajectories of the system can reach and stay on the sliding mode surface,the uncertainty and external interference of the model are compensated.Simulation and experiment compared with the conventional PIDC are carried out,the results demonstrate the effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed control method of this paper. 展开更多

Vibration control is an efficient way to minimize a rotating machine’s vibration level so that its vibration fault-free can be realized.While,several factors,such as unbalance,misalignment and instability,contribute to the serious vibration of rotating machines.It is necessary that one apparatus can depress vibration caused by two or more reasons.The fault self-recovery(FSR) mechanism is introduced and investigated.Strategies of vibration control are investigated theoretically using numerical method firstly.Active magneticelectric exciter(AME) are selected as the actuator of a FSR device because it can provide suitable force by varying the control current in the exciters depending upon a proportional and derivative control law.By numerical study,it is indicate that only a small control force is needed to improve stability margins of the compressor and prevent subsynchronous vibration fault efficiently.About synchronous vibration,three control strategies,searching in whole circle,fast optimizing control(FOC),and none mistaking control,are investigated to show which of the control strategy can realize the fault self-recovery in the shortest time.Experimental study is conducted on a test rig with variable rotating speed.Results of the test indicate that the non-mistake control strategy can minimize synchronous vibration in less than three seconds.The proposed research can provide a new insight for subsynchronous and synchronous vibration restraining about centrifugal compressor. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the robust attitude control of a novel coaxial eight-rotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) which has higher drive capability as well as greater robustness against disturbances than quad-rotor UAV. The dynamical and kinematical model for the coaxial eight-rotor UAV is developed, which has never been proposed before. A robust backstepping sliding mode controller (BSMC) with adaptive radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) is proposed to control the attitude of the eightrotor UAV in the presence of model uncertainties and external disturbances. The combinative method of backstepping control and sliding mode control has improved robustness and simplified design procedure benefiting from the advantages of both controllers. The adaptive RBFNN as the uncertainty observer can effectively estimate the lumped uncertainties without the knowledge of their bounds for the eight-rotor UAV. Additionally, the adaptive learning algorithm, which can learn the parameters of RBFNN online and compensate the approximation error, is derived using Lyapunov stability theorem. And then the uniformly ultimate stability of the eight-rotor system is proved. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed robust control method adopted in the novel coaxial eight-rotor UAV in the case of model uncertainties and external disturbances. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation. 展开更多

A novel transient rotor current control scheme is proposed in this paper for a doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG)equipped with a superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES) device to enhance its transient voltage and frequency support capacity during grid faults. The SMES connected to the DC-link capacitor of the DFIG is controlled to regulate the transient dc-link voltage so that the whole capacity of the grid side converter(GSC) is dedicated to injecting reactive power to the grid for the transient voltage support. However, the rotor-side converter(RSC) has different control tasks for different periods of the grid fault. Firstly, for Period I, the RSC injects the demagnetizing current to ensure the controllability of the rotor voltage. Then, since the dc stator flux degenerates rapidly in Period II, the required demagnetizing current is low in Period II and the RSC uses the spare capacity to additionally generate the reactive(priority) and active current so that the transient voltage capability is corroborated and the DFIG also positively responds to the system frequency dynamic at the earliest time. Finally, a small amount of demagnetizing current is provided after the fault clearance. Most of the RSC capacity is used to inject the active current to further support the frequency recovery of the system. Simulations are carried out on a simple power system with a wind farm. Comparisons with other commonly used control methods are performed to validate the proposed control method. 展开更多

Due to actuator time delay existing in an adaptive control of the active balancing system for a fast speed-varying Jeffcott rotor, if an unsynchronized control force (correction imbalance) is applied to the system, it may lead to degradation in control efficiency and instability of the control system. In order to avoid these shortcomings, a simple adaptive controller was designed for a strictly positive real rotor system with actuator time delay, then a Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional was constructed after an appropriate transform of this sys-tem model, the stability conditions of this adaptive control system with actuator time delay were derived. After adding a filter function, the active balancing system for the fast speed-varying Jeffcott rotor with actuator time delay can easily be converted to a strictly positive real system, and thus it can use the above adaptive controller satisfying the stability conditions. Finally, numerical simulations show that the adaptive controller proposed works very well to perform the active balancing for the fast speed-varying Jeffcott rotor with actuator time delay. 展开更多

Aiming at a bearings system described with nonlinear equations, this paper built a linear model according to the system behavior. Considering realization of the control system and behavior of a high rate rotor system (magnetic force is far smaller than input force produced by mass eccentricity) this paper proposes a design method of variable parameters PD control algorithm that can be used universally. The control system was simplified and a mass of adjusting work of control parameters was reduced. Analysis and simulation indicated that the bearings system could get a wider stable region of harmonic motion, and proved that the algorithm is robust and advanced. The control system can be realized because the winding electric currents are positive. The method is convenient for operation and can easily be used for engineering practice. 展开更多

This feature permits to use either flow sensors or flow estimators. The solution chosen was the estimation of rotor flux with the hybrid neuro-fuzzy system. The motor characteristics are: 3.75 kW (5 HP), two pole-pair, operate at 60 Hz and air-gap length 0.2 mm. The ANFIS (adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system) was used to tune the membership functions in fuzzy system. The hybrid estimator aims at compensating possible parametric variations of the machine caused by agents, such as temperature or nucleus saturation. An experimental system was established to explore the plasma flow control effect for helicopter rotors in hover mode.With the plasma actuator applied at the leading edge of the rotor blades,alternating current dielectric barrier discharge(AC-DBD) plasma actuation was generated by a sinusoidal AC high-voltage generator.By direct force measurement,the influence of actuation parameters on the aerodynamic performance of the rotor was investigated at a tip Reynolds number of 1.7 × 105.AC-DBD actuation can delay the blade stall to more than 3° with a 20%increase of about in the thrust coefficient at the post-stall pitch.At a constant motor power driving the rotor,AC-DBD actuation could reduce the rotor’s torque at the stalled pitch and increase the rotational speed of the rotor.Also,AC-DBD actuation could maintain a relatively high hover efficiency of the rotor at large collective pitches.In a wide range of actuation parameters,AC-DBD plasma actuation could improve the rotor’s aerodynamic performance at large blade pitches.High-speed photography of the tuft motion on the blade’s upper surface showed that AC-DBD plasma actuation could promote the reattachment of the blade’s separation flow. 展开更多

An inverse model control based on TS-fuzzy support vector regression( TS-fuzzy SVR) for a quadrotor aircraft is developed. The TS-kernel is the product of linear combination of input and a cluster of output corresponding to a cluster of TS-type fuzzy rules. The output of TS-fuzzy SVR is a linear weighted sum of the TSkernels. The dynamical model of the quad-rotor aircraft is derived. A new control scheme combined with TSfuzzy SVR inverse model control and PID control is presented so that the TS-fuzzy SVR inverse model control enhances capabilities of disturbance rejection and the robustness while the PID control enhances fast responsiveness and reliability of the system. Simulation results show the capabilities of the developed control for the attitude system of quad-rotor aircraft. 展开更多

Dynamics of the payloads are treated as distur... In this paper, robust control problem is addressed for quad-rotor delivering unknown time-varying payloads. Firstly, the model of a quad-rotor carrying payloads is built. Dynamics of the payloads are treated as disturbances and added into the model of the quad-rotor. Secondly, to enhance system robust-ness, the extended state observer (ESO) is applied to estimate the disturbances from the payloads for feedback compensation. Then a type of predictive controller targeting multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system is developed to degrade the influences caused by sudden changes from load-ing/dropping of the payloads. Finally, by making comparison with the con-ventional cascade proportional-integral-derivative (CPID) and the sliding mode control (SMC) approaches, superiority of the scheme developed is va-lidated. The simulation results indicate that the CPID method shows poor performance on attitude stabilization and the SMC shows input chattering phenomenon even it can achieve satisfied control performances. 展开更多
