Firstly, a cross-layer optimization model is built, which considers the Doppler wavelength shift, the transmission delay as well as wavelength-continuity constraint. Then an ant colony algorithm is utilized to solve the cross-layer optimization model, resulting in finding an optimal light path satisfying the above constraints for every connection request. The performance of CL-ACRWA is measured by the communication success probability, the convergence property and the transmission delay. Simulation results show that CL-ACRWA performs well in communication success probability and has good global search ability as well as fast convergence speed. Using a full quantum theory in real space, photonic scattering amplitudes along four ports of the waveguide network are analytically obtained. It is shown that, by adjusting the atomic dipole-dipole interaction, an evident Fano-line shape emerges in the scattering spectra of the single-dot configuration system. Moreover, Fano resonance can also be achieved by varying the atom-waveguide coupling strength and atomic detuning, in the presence of the atomic dipole-dipole interaction. Therefore, the atomic dipole-dipole interaction may be utilized as a possible way to control spectral Fano-like resonance. The feasibility with the experimental waveguide channels is also discussed.展开更多

Above all,a cross-layer optimization model is designed,which considers transmission delay and wavelength-continuity constraint,as well as Doppler wavelength shift. Then CL-DRWA is applied to solve this model,resulting in finding an optimal light path satisfying the above constraints for every connection request. In CL-DRWA,Bellman-Ford method is used to find an optimal route and a distributed relative capacity loss method is implemented to get an optimal wavelength assignment result on the optimal route. Moreover,compared with the dynamic routing and wavelength assignment algorithm based on minimum delay strategy( MD-DRWA),CL-DRWA can make an improvement of 5. 3% on the communication success probability. In recent years,using message ferries as mechanical carriers of data has been shown to be an effective way to collect information in sparse wireless sensor networks.As the sensors are far away from each other in such ...In recent years,using message ferries as mechanical carriers of data has been shown to be an effective way to collect information in sparse wireless sensor networks.As the sensors are far away from each other in such highly partitioned scenario,a message ferry needs to travel a long route to access all the sensors and carry the data collected from the sensors to the sink.Typically,practical constraints(e.g.,the energy)preclude a ferry from visiting all sensors in a single tour.In such case,the ferry can only access part of the sensors in each tour and move back to the sink to get the energy refilled.So,the energy-constrained ferry route design(ECFRD)problem is discussed,which leads to the optimization problem of minimizing the total route length of the ferry,while keeping the route length of each tour below a given constraint.The ECFRD problem is proved to be NP-hard problem,and the integer linear programming(ILP)formulation is given.After that,efficient heuristic algorithms are proposed to solve this problem.The experimental results show that the performances of the proposed algorithms are effective in practice compared to the optimal solution.展开更多

Previous studies show that interconnects occupy a large portion of the timing budget and area in FPGAs.In this work,we propose a time-multiplexing technique on FPGA interconnects.In order to fully exploit this interco...Previous studies show that interconnects occupy a large portion of the timing budget and area in FPGAs.In this work,we propose a time-multiplexing technique on FPGA interconnects.In order to fully exploit this interconnect architecture,we propose a time-multiplexed routing algorithm that can actively identify qualified nets and schedule them to multiplexable wires.We validate the algorithm by using the router to implement 20 benchmark circuits to time-multiplexed FPGAs.We achieve a 38%smaller minimum channel width and 3.8%smaller circuit critical path delay compared with the state-of-the-art architecture router when a wire can be time-multiplexed six times in a cycle.展开更多

A new public transportation system design problem that simultaneously considers both bus network design and public bicycle network design is proposed. The chemical reaction optimization(CRO) is designed to solve the problem. A shortcoming of CRO is that, when the two-molecule collisions take place, the molecules are randomly picked from the container.Hence, we improve CRO by employing different mating strategies. The computational results confirm the benefits of the mating strategies. Numerical experiments are conducted on the Sioux-Falls network. A comparison with the traditional sequential modeling framework indicates that the proposed approach has a better performance and is more robust. The practical applicability of the approach is proved by employing a real size network.展开更多

With the rapid development of marine oil and gas exploitation,the evacuation of offshore platforms has received more attention.First,an experimental investigation of the evacuation process of 120 participants in a rea...With the rapid development of marine oil and gas exploitation,the evacuation of offshore platforms has received more attention.First,an experimental investigation of the evacuation process of 120 participants in a real offshore platform is performed,and then simulation results provided by Pathfinder are validated against the measurement results.Second,four typical evacuation scenarios on the platform referring to IMO guidelines are investigated by Pathfinder with the speed values achieved in experiments.The simulation results show that both the utilization of exits and evacuation efficiency of people on the offshore platform need to be further improved.Last,the evacuation routes of people under the four scenarios are optimized,and the improvement of the evacuation performance after the optimization is evaluated by several mathematical indicators.Final results show that the evacuation with the optimized route design prompts the use efficiency of exits and further reduces the evacuation time.The present study provides a useful advice for potentially revising the IMO guidelines in future and provides efficient evacuation strategies for planning the emergency evacuation on offshore platforms.展开更多

This paper puts forward an interference aware routing protocol called Interference aware cross layer routing protocol (IA-CLR) for MANETs based on the IEEE 802.11 medium access layer (MAC). By defining the node's sending and receiving capabilities, IA-CLR can indicate the interference strength of the link in a real and comprehensive way. Further more, in order to choose the route with minimum bottleneck link interference, a new routing metric is proposed by combining the MAC layer and the network layer for cross layer design. Simulation results show that IA-CLR can significantly improve the performances of network such as the average end-to-end delay, the packets loss ratio and the throughput.展开更多

In large-scale data centers, many servers are in- terconnected via a dedicated networking structure, so as to satisfy specific design goals, such as the low equipment cost, the high network capacity, and the increment...In large-scale data centers, many servers are in- terconnected via a dedicated networking structure, so as to satisfy specific design goals, such as the low equipment cost, the high network capacity, and the incremental expansion. The topological properties of a networking structure are criti- cal factors that dominate the performance of the entire data center. The existing networking structures are either fully random or completely structured. Although such networking structures exhibit advantages on given aspects, they suffer ob- vious shortcomings in other essential fields. In this paper, we aim to design a hybrid topology, called R3, which is the com- pound graph of structured and random topology. It employs random regular graph as a unit duster and connects many such clusters by means of a structured topology, i.e., the gen- eralized hypercube. Consequently, the hybrid topology com- bines the advantages of structured as well as random topolo- gies seamlessly. Meanwhile, a coloring-based algorithm is proposed for R3 to enable fast and accurate routing. R3 pos- sesses many attractive characteristics, such as the modularity and expansibility at the cost of only increasing the degree of any node by one. Comprehensive evaluation results show that our hybrid topology possesses excellent topology properties and network performance.展开更多
