At present, the ann... Since the USA patent of electroslag remelting(ESR) metallurgy was held by P. K. Hopkins in 1940, the ESR technology has now entered a relatively mature stage after a 70-year history of development. At present, the annual capacity of ESR steels around the world is approximately 2 million tonnes. ESR metallurgy emerged in China in 1958. Since then, electroslag furnaces were gradually installed in Chinese special steel plants. At present, there are more than 200 electroslag remelting furnaces in the metallurgical workshops of these steel plants with an annual production capacity of about 500,000 tonnes of ingots and components made of about 200 varieties of steels, including high quality steels and superalloys. This ESR technology is used as a special remelting and refining method for producing high quality steels and superalloys. However, traditional ESR technology has the disadvantages of environmental pollution and extremely high specific power consumption. High power consumption restricts, to a certain degree, the competitiveness of ESR steels in the marketplace. The measures of power saving in ESR have been researched in recent years. In this paper, some factors influencing power consumption, such as filling ratio, slag system, slag amount, melting rate and furnace structure are reviewed, and several new ESR technologies for power saving are proposed. 展开更多

Schedule-Aware Power Management for Energy-Efficiency Improvement in 802.11u WLAN

Mobile stations supporting the 802.11u standard can access WLAN automatically when they are within the coverage of the network service provided by this WLAN. To achieve this goal, the stations need to keep “on” states includingidleandactiveall the time. However, studies have noted that the idleness of stations often lead to considerable power consumption. Although the conventional power saving mode (PSM) can provide energy saving effect to some extent, its own disadvantage leads to lower energy efficiency when the number of stations accessing the target WLAN. In this paper, we propose a Schedule-Aware PSM (S-PSM), which can improve the energy efficiency in 802.11u WLAN. Particularly, we use the Generic advertisement service (GAS) defined in 802.11u standard to broadcast the transmission schedule information and all stations switch off their radios based on this information accordingly. We introduce the Respond Contention Window to reduce the collision probability of competition channel. When there is no packet in the access point (AP), AP broadcasts the GAS frame and actives the Idle Timer. All stations will turn into sleep and AP will not send GAS frame until Idle Timer expires. Simulations have shown that our proposed scheme can significantly reduce power consumption compared with the conventional PSM. 展开更多

With the deepening of China’s power market, bilateral transactions will continue to grow in large scale. The release of bilateral transactions locked more regulatory resources of the power grid, will directly affect the operation mode of the unit and the implementation of planned electricity. In the paper, considering the large-scale bilateral trade effect on the peak regulation of power grid, energy saving and emission reduction, power system security and other factors, and then putting forward the method of long term generation planning and annual planning model to adapt to the safe operation of power grid in China. In the model, the target is minimizing the monthly load rate deviation and the annual electric quantity deviation rate, the latter includes the capacity factor. In addition, the constraints include the monthly quantity of electricity, adjustable utilization rate deviation, load rate, reserve and key sections, etc. Through an example to verify the correctness of the model, the planning and power transaction results can satisfy the peak regulation of load, energy saving and emission reduction and safety operation of the power grid requirements. 展开更多

A novel method for analysing the performance of power saving class of Type III in IEEE 802.16e is proposed, which is applicable to design, maintenance and management for mobile wireless metropolitan area network. Considering the memoryless nature of user initiated packet arrival, a Geom/G/1 queue model with multiple vacations and setup period is built to capture the principle for the power saving class of Type III. By using an embedded Markov chain method and the boundary state variable theory, we obtain the queueing measures such as queueing length, waiting time and busy cycle in steady state. Correspondingly, we derive explicitly the performance measures for the power saving class of Type III in terms of handover ratio, energy saving ratio, and average packet response time. Based on numerical results, we develop a cost function to determine numerically the optimal length of sleep window and the minimal cost with different offered loads. 展开更多

The huge amount of electrical power of many countries is consumed in lighting the streets. However, vehicles pass with very low rate in specific periods of time and parts of the streets are not occupied by vehicles over time. In this paper, we propose a system that automatically switches off the light for the parts of the streets having no vehicles and turns on the light for these parts once there are some vehicles that are going to come. Logically, this system may save a large amount of the electrical power. In addition, it may increase the lifetime of the lamps and reduce the pollutions. This system automatically controls and monitors the light of the streets. It can light only the parts that have vehicles and help on the maintenance of the lighting equipments. Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANET) make it possible to propose such system. VANET enables the possibility to know the presence of vehicles, their locations, their directions and their speeds in real time. These quantities are what are needed to develop this system. An advantage of using VANET is that there is no need to use specific network and equipments to design the system, but VANET infrastructure will be used. This decreases the cost and speed up the deployment of such system. This paper focuses on the proposal of different possible architectures of this system. Results show that the saved energy may reach up to 65% and an increase of the lifetime of the lamps of 53%. 展开更多

Broadcasting live digital TV to a small battery-powered handheld device is very challenging. One of the most promising technologies to provide such services is DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting over Handheld). Power consumption has always been one of the most crucial challenges for handheld devices. In this paper, a novel Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) framework is proposed for DVB-H systems to address the challenging problem of power consumption. The proposed power saving AMC framework operates by rearranging the transmitted frames in a pre-defined pattern. The adaptive receiver selects the appropriate modulation technique and/or code rate, one that achieves a target Bit Error Rate (BER), and then could be switched off and/or powered down resulting in significant potential for saving of reception and processing powers. Simulation of the DVB-H system under the proposed framework proved that the proposed power saving AMC framework is capable of achieving power saving up to 71.875% in COST207 Typical Urban 6-paths (TU6) channel. Furthermore, numerical analysis for the power saving potential and BER performance of the proposed framework is performed for both flat Rayleigh channel and multipath TU6 channel. 展开更多

The progress of economic globalization,the rapid growth of international trade,and the maritime transportation has played an increasingly significant role in the international supply chain.As a result,worldwide seaports have suffered from a central problem,which appears in the form of massive amounts of fuel consumed and exhaust gas fumes emitted from the ships while berthed.Many ports have taken the necessary precautions to overcome this problem,while others still suffer due to the presence of technical and financial constraints.In this paper,the barriers,interconnection standards,rules,regulations,power sources,and economic and environmental analysis related to ships,shore-side power were studied in efforts to find a solution to overcome his problem.As a case study,this paper investigates the practicability,costs and benefits of switching from onboard ship auxiliary engines to shore-side power connection for high-speed crafts called Alkahera while berthed at the port of Safaga,Egypt.The results provide the national electricity grid concept as the best economical selection with 49.03 percent of annual cost saving.Moreover,environmentally,it could achieve an annual reduction in exhaust gas emissions of CO2,CO,NOx,P.M,and SO2by 276,2.32,18.87,0.825 and 3.84 tons,respectively. 展开更多

To improve high-speed road feel and enhance energetic efficiency of hydraulic power steering(HPS) system in heavy-duty vehicles, an electromagnetic slip coupling(ESC) was applied to the steering system, which regulated discharge flow of steering pump to realize variable assist characteristic as well as uniquely transfer on-demand power from engine to steering pump. The model of ESC was established and the dynamic characteristics of ESC were presented by the way of simulation and experiment. Upon the layout of the assist characteristics, output torque of ESC was derived. Based on the ESC model, the output torque characteristics of ESC were simulated under steering situation and straight driving situation, respectively. The consistency of simulated ESC output torque and the one deduced from assist characteristics verifies the correctness of the ESC dynamic model. To illustrate energy saving characteristics of ESC-HPS, energy consumption comparison of ESC-HPS and conventional HPS was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. It follows that the energy consumption of ESC-HPS decreases by 50% compared with that of HPS. 展开更多

针对高水分褐煤燃烧发电中存在的热效率低和低负荷稳燃困难等问题,提出了基于过热蒸汽干燥开式制粉系统的新型高效燃褐煤发电技术,该技术采用基于汽轮机抽汽加热的过热蒸汽干燥开式制粉系统,保证了制粉系统的运行安全性,提高了燃烧系统... 针对高水分褐煤燃烧发电中存在的热效率低和低负荷稳燃困难等问题,提出了基于过热蒸汽干燥开式制粉系统的新型高效燃褐煤发电技术,该技术采用基于汽轮机抽汽加热的过热蒸汽干燥开式制粉系统,保证了制粉系统的运行安全性,提高了燃烧系统的运行灵活性,实现了制粉系统与锅炉主机的运行解耦,并综合解决了褐煤锅炉炉温低、热效率低的等问题。以600 MW超临界燃褐煤机组为例,对采用该技术的热力系统进行了仿真,分析了其节能与环保效益。研究结果表明,该技术通过对锅炉与汽轮机整体热力系统的综合优化,将汽轮机回热系统扩大至高水分煤的干燥过程,同时梯级回收锅炉排烟废热和制粉乏汽废热至汽轮机回热系统,可获得较为显著的节煤效益。同时,该技术不仅可由节煤相应减少各类污染物及CO_(2)排放,还可回收大量水资源,有望实现零水耗电厂。 展开更多

以往的发电设备绿色节能控制方法由于仅提取发电设备运行状态的功率特征,导致方法的控制效果较差。因此,设计了基于双通道多特征融合的发电设备绿色节能控制方法。首先,分析双通道多特征融合基本原理,利用传感器获取大量发电设备运行状... 以往的发电设备绿色节能控制方法由于仅提取发电设备运行状态的功率特征,导致方法的控制效果较差。因此,设计了基于双通道多特征融合的发电设备绿色节能控制方法。首先,分析双通道多特征融合基本原理,利用传感器获取大量发电设备运行状态数据,并对数据进行优化处理,以分析发电设备运行状态与能耗之间的关系。其次,构建发电设备运行状态数学模型,从中提取发电设备运行状态多个特征信息,并利用双通道结构对提取的特征信息进行融合。然后,设计双通道多特征融合控制策略,以融合提取的数据特征。最后,计算对应的控制参数,通过计算发电设备运行过程中的能耗阈值,制定对应的电力设备绿色节能控制策略。试验结果表明,与以往的发电设备绿色节能控制方法相比,所提方法在实际应用中节能效益最高可达44.5%。该方法具有节能效益高、易于操作和维护、实时性好和灵活性高等特点,在发电设备绿色节能控制领域具有广阔的应用前景。 展开更多

“双碳”目标的提出加速了我国能源革命的进程,对发展新兴能源、构建现代能源体系起到了极大的推动作用。本文聚焦节能降碳,新型电力系统建设,碳捕集、利用与封存三个重点领域,梳理了世界碳中和重点领域工程科技发展的九大趋势,提出了面... “双碳”目标的提出加速了我国能源革命的进程,对发展新兴能源、构建现代能源体系起到了极大的推动作用。本文聚焦节能降碳,新型电力系统建设,碳捕集、利用与封存三个重点领域,梳理了世界碳中和重点领域工程科技发展的九大趋势,提出了面向2040年的碳中和重点领域经济社会与科技发展愿景和战略目标;剖析碳中和领域发展面临的问题,描绘了基于“十项关键技术、九项重点任务、四项重大工程、三项重大科技项目”的工程科技发展路线。研究提出,强化节能优先战略实施和管理,加强科研仪器设备研发和科研平台建设,充分发挥中央企业创新主体作用,加强碳捕集、利用与封存技术的财税支持等4项保障措施,为我国碳中和重点领域科技创新研发布局提供借鉴和参考。 展开更多
