An experimental study on cutting amorphous alloy at nanometer scale is conducted by applying the principle and technology of scanning probe microscope(SPM) It is revealed from the experiments that cutting inside SPM is an excellent and direct way to research the material removal process at small size Based on the experimental results, the chip formation mechanism for the cutting of amorphous alloy is discussed It is found that the deformation along the direction of chip flow occurs ahead of the appearance of localized shear, and a simplified geometrical model is proposed to illustrate the deformation. 展开更多

We report scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy(STM/STS) studies on iron-based superconductors of Ba1-xKxFe2As2 and nearly optimally doped Fe(Te,Se). Mode-like features were observed universally outside the superconducting gaps in the tunneling spectra, which are similar to our previous observations in other samples and can be ascribed to the interaction between electrons and spin excitations. Furthermore, an almost linear relationship between the superconducting gaps and the superconducting transition temperatures was noted and should also be taken into account in understanding the mechanism of iron-based superconductors. 展开更多

Elevated levels of serum immunoglobulin observed in patients with cancers of epithelial origin, including carcinomas of breast, colon, and liver have been interpreted as humoral responses of host to cancer growth. Recently, Qiu et al described in detail that human cancers of epithelial origin, including carcinomas of breast, colon, liver, lung, established epithelial cancer lines, produce immunoglobulin G (IgG) in their cytoplasm. Under normal conditions, heat shock proteins (HSPs) have multiple cellular functions, such as folding and translocating newly synthesized proteins. When a cell is injured or under stress, HSPs refold damaged protein or facilitate degradation of proteins. In most cancers, heat shock proteins can capture tumour specific peptide to inhibit the growth of cancer. This study demonstrated that human IgG and HSPs are co-localized in hepatocellular carcinoma. 展开更多
