THE ILLUSTRATION CALCULATIONS OF SECOND ORDER EFFECTS IN ELASTIC HALF-SPACE ACTED UPON BY A NON-UNIFORM SHEAR LOAD

This paper is a continuation of [1]. An example is discussed in derail to illustrate the second order effects. Numerical calculations for the second order elastic material for the z-direction displacement and the stress t(rz) are carried out. It is found that the second order effect is to reduce z-direction displacement and to decrease t(rz)inside the circle but to increase its value outside the circle.

THE GENERAL SOLUTION OF SECOND ORDER EFFECTS IN ELASTIC HALF-SPACE ACTED UPON BY A NON-UNIFORM SHEAR LOAD

A closed form solution to the second order elasticity problem, when an isotropic compressible elastic half-space undergoes a deformation owing to a non-uniformly distributed shear load, is presented. The method of integral transform is employed to determine the solutions.

Effects Of Subjective Factors On Second Language Learnig(L2L)

In order to promote the activeness and initiative of learners and allow them to take theirlearning advantages,a teacher should be fully aware of the psychological process and models ofL2L．For no matter how well learners can command a language,their subjective incentives play adecisive role,that is the case particularly for non—Eniglish majors,who are always exposed tocrowded,serious and teacher—centred learning contexts.

Study on generalized magneto-thermoelastic problems by FEM in time domain

This paper presents an investigation of temperature, displacement, stress, and induced magnetic field in a half space perfectly-conductive plate. Finite element equations regarding generalized magneto-thermoelasticity problems with two relaxation times （i.e., the G-L theory） are derived using the principle of virtual work. For avoiding numerical complication involved in inverse Laplace and Fourier transformation and low precision thereof, the equations are solved directly in time-domain. As a numerical example, the derived equation is used to investigate the generalized magneto-thermoelastic behavior of a semi-infinite plate under magnetic field and subjecting to a thermal shock loading. The results demonstrate that FEM can faithfully predict the deformation of the plate and the induced magnetic field, and most importantly can reveal the sophisticated second sound effect of heat conduction in two-dimensional generalized thermoelastic solids, which is usually difficult to model by routine transformation methods. A peak can be observed in the distribution of stress and induced front and the magnitude of magnetic field at the heat wave the peak decreases with time, which can not be obtained by transformation methods. The new method can also be used to study generalized piezo-thermoelastic problems.

Crystal Structure and Properties of a Sodium Terbium Borate Na_(2.67)Tb_(2.11)B_3O_9

A new nonlinear optical crystal of sodium terbium borate （Na2.67Tb2.11B3O9, Mr = 573.14） was synthesized by solid reaction method. The colorless transparent single crystals were grown from the high temperature solution by employing NaBO2 as flux. The structure was deter- mined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Amm2 with a = 5.0744（10）, b = 10.990（2）, c = 6.9078（14） A, V = 385.24（13） A3, Dc = 4.941 g/cm3, F（000） = 250, Z = 2, μ= 9.205 mm-1, the final R = 0.0253 and wR = 0.0610. Its three-dimensional network structure is constructed from isolated BO33-, Na（1）O8, Na（2）O6, Na（3）O6 and Tb（1）O9 polyhedra. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements show the compound is paramagnetic （μj = 7.04 μb）. The intensity of the second harmonic generation of Na2.67Tb2.11B3O9 is 2.5 times that of KDP.

Frequency equation for the submicron CMOS ring oscillator using the first order characterization

By utilizing the first order behavior of the device,an equation for the frequency of operation of the submicron CMOS ring oscillator is presented.A 5-stage ring oscillator is utilized as the initial design,with different Beta ratios,for the computation of the operating frequency.Later on,the circuit simulation is performed from 5-stage till 23-stage,with the range of oscillating frequency being 3.0817 and 0.6705 GHz respectively.It is noted that the output frequency is inversely proportional to the square of the device length,and when the value of Beta ratio is used as 2.3,a difference of 3.64%is observed on an average,in between the computed and the simulated values of frequency.As an outcome,the derived equation can be utilized,with the inclusion of an empirical constant in general,for arriving at the ring oscillator circuit’s output frequency.

Effect of acidity on morphologies and photodimerization kinetics in Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of styrylquinoline derivatives

The real-time second harmonic generation was employed to investigate the[2＋2]photodimerization of styrylquinoline（SQ） derivatives in Langmuir-Blodgett（LB） monolayers deposited from aqueous subphases with different acidity.It was discovered that the photodimerization rate constant significantly decreased upon the addition of acid.The additional atomic force microscopy measurements revealed that surface morphologies were correlated to the photodimerization kinetics.These experimental results provide direct evidence for the topo-chemical mechanisms of[2＋2]photodimerization in LB films.The current study demonstrates that the intermolecular interactions and aggregation structures play important roles in the photochemical properties at surfaces.
