To test self healing capability of asphalt binders,three asphalt specimens(pure asphalt,modified asphalt and aged asphalt) were prepared.Every specimen was tested by dynamic shear rheometer(DSR).The temperature sweeps result indicates that both aging and SBS modifying influence the self healing capability of asphalt binder.The fatigue-heal-fatigue test was introduced to study the self healing capability of asphalt in its serving periods.Furthermore,three different periods(0.5 h,1 h,3 h) were set up to study the influence of rest time on fatigue time.It is concluded that longer rest time,less load will delay the appearance of cracks and extend the service life of asphalt binders. 展开更多

An important area of focus in complex systems development is the capability to adapt to variable runtime environmental resources and to accommodate runtime system failures. The research in this area is broadly termed as “Self Healing” and has recently aroused increasing attention to complex systems. Digital libraries have gained popularity because of the richer features they provide compared to traditional libraries. As more users begin to use digital libraries, addressing downtimes of these valuable resources has become a high priority. Operating and providing access to digital content to anyone, anytime from anywhere in the world, results in a continued rise of administrative overhead for system monitoring and needs continuous human intervention. Given the volume of information and the huge infrastructure of modem libraries, continuous manual system administration is quite costly and not feasible. In this paper we propose a self healing digital library system as the solution to this problem and present the approach of adding self healing capabilities to an existing digital library project, the Digital Library of India (DLI). We also propose a self healing framework that enables successful reuse of our approach to other architecturally similar digital library systems. 展开更多

Thermoelectric power generators have attracted increasing interest in recent years owing to their great potential in wearable electronics power supply.It is noted that thermoelectric power generators are easy to damage in the dynamic service process,resulting in the formation of microcracks and performance degradation.Herein,we prepare a new hybrid hydrogel thermoelectric material PAAc/XG/Bi_(2)Se_(0.3)Te_(2.7)by an in situ polymerization method,which shows a high stretchable and self-healable performance,as well as a good thermoelectric performance.For the sample with Bi_(2)Se_(0.3)Te_(2.7)content of 1.5 wt%(i.e.,PAAc/XG/Bi2Se0.3Te27(1.5 wt%)),which has a room temperature Seebeck coefficient of-0.45 mV K^(-1),and exhibits an open-circuit voltage of-17.91 mV and output power of 38.1 nW at a temperature difference of 40 K.After being completely cut off,the hybrid thermoelectric hydrogel automatically recovers its electrical characteristics within a response time of 2.0 s,and the healed hydrogel remains more than 99%of its initial power output.Such stretchable and self-healable hybrid hydrogel thermoelectric materials show promising potential for application in dynamic service conditions,such as wearable electronics. 展开更多

Considering the continuous traffic flow and the limited time available for road maintenance,it is very important to design a durable pavement system. Asphalt pavements with a healing capability are believed to be very useful since they can extend the pavement service life thanks to rest periods and hot summers. In order to design durable asphalt pavements,research in understanding and upgrading the self-healing capability of bituminous materials in time is of major importance. The self healing capability of bituminous mastic was evaluated in this research with a direct tension healing test. In the test program,different healing times,crack status and modifications were applied. The results indicate that elastic recovery and flow capacity are important factors for the self healing capability of bituminous materials at different crack phases as simulated with the direct tension test. 展开更多

To minimize the environmental pollution caused by polymeric waste,materials based dynamic chemistry have attracted extensive attention around the world.Various dynamic covalent bonds or noncovalent interactions have been employed to design multifunctional polymers with recyclability,reprocessablility,and sustainability.Among them,polymers based on reversible boron–oxygen(B–O)bonds have been widely investigated because of their unique properties.Particularly,lots of scientists have demonstrated that the combination with boron–nitrogen(B–N)coordination can effectively accelerate the dynamicity as well as enhance the stability of B–O bonds.Therefore,numerous polymers containing dynamic B–O bonds with dative B–N coordination have been designed and synthesized in recent years.These polymers exhibit excellent versatility and great potential for diverse applications such as biosensors,battery electrolytes,and artificial skins.This review provides an overview of the comprehensive influence of dynamic B–N coordination chemistry on B–O bonds in organoboron species and highlights the developments in the area of constructing boron‐containing polymeric materials with this interesting linkage.The design guidelines,existing challenges,and future perspectives in this burgeoning field are discussed and proposed. 展开更多

Combining the stability of chemical crosslinking and the processability of physical crosslinking is a well-established strategy to design new materials with desirable stimuli–responsive properties. Herein, a series of azobenzenebased thermotropic liquid crystalline polyesters were synthesized by introducing mesogenic dial named 4,4'-bis(6-hydroxyhexyloxy)azobenzene(BHHAB), 2-phenylsuccinic acid(PSA), and different contents of 1,2,3-propanetricarboxylic acid(PTA) as the chemical crosslinker. All these polyesters showed good thermal stability and smectic liquid crystalline phase. Wide-angel X-ray diffraction(WAXD) and the fluorescence emission spectra confirmed the existence of π–πstacking interactions as the physical crosslinking in the polymer chains, particularly at the lower content of PTA. However, when the PTA content increased, the chemical crosslinking changed the chain conformation, and thus the intensity of physical crosslinking slackened gradually. Combining the physical and chemical crosslinking, these polyesters showed the thermoplastic processability, thermal shape memory, heat-assisted healing and photoresponsive behaviors. Taking advantages of these features, these multiple stimuli–responsive polymers can bring more chances for smart materials such as soft actuator. 展开更多

This paper presents a methodology for planning new SDH target transmission network in China,which is of,in structure into four levels: the inter province backbone network,the intra province backbone networks,local networks,and subscriber access networks.At meantime,in order to obtain high degree of network survivability,topology configure of protection and reconfiguration for each level network is also discussed. In order to help the planner in computer aid design and analysis,a modified integrated self healing network design algorithms ( The integration of Capacity Assignment Optimization Algoritms, R D, SSR and DSH ) which support this planning methodology is presented and discussed.The computer simulation results are also given to show the practical application of this methodology and benefits of this algorithm.The results show that this algorithm is very effective for designing a higher degree of self healing network with least spare capacity. 展开更多
