This also applies to the tragic truth of the Indian epics, except that this karmic kind of truth is not considered decisive. Crucial in the Indian case is cosmic truth, and Hindu cosmic truth is never produced out of pollution or pain. In Arjuna's case, Krishna's revelatory knowledge is religiously saving knowledge, whereas in Oedipus' case, Apollo's and Teiresias' revelatory knowledge is religiously dooming knowledge. In Hamlet's case, religiously saving knowledge is an object of theological speculation and of philosophical doubt. In the Hindu case, self-knowledge means absolute knowledge and ultimate liberation; in the Greek case, self-knowledge means self-discovery and the recognition of human fragility; in the Shakespearean case, self-knowledge means self-exploration and doubting oneself.展开更多

To optimize computational expenditure and memory utilization, self-knowledge distillation(SKD) extracts dark knowledge from the model itself rather than an external teacher network. However, previous SKD methods performed distillation indiscriminately on full datasets, overlooking the analysis of representative samples. In this work, we present a novel two-stage approach to providing targeted knowledge on specific samples, named two-stage approach self-knowledge distillation(TOAST). We first soften the hard targets using class medoids generated based on logit vectors per class. Then, we iteratively distill the under-trained data with past predictions of half the batch size. The two-stage knowledge is linearly combined, efficiently enhancing model performance. Extensive experiments conducted on five backbone architectures show our method is model-agnostic and achieves the best generalization performance.Besides, TOAST is strongly compatible with existing augmentation-based regularization methods. Our method also obtains a speedup of up to 2.95x compared with a recent state-of-the-art method.展开更多

Dickens' the realist paradoxically reflected a readiness to think and feel "without immediate external excitement". He expressed his alignment with Romanticism by way of a cultivation of feeling and empathizing. His genius was, as expressed by Bagehot, "essentially irregular and unsymmetrical" because he was "utterly deficient in the faculty of reasoning". His daily, or rather nightly walks provided him with the inspiration to follow the Romantic tradition of writing on walks. The essay under consideration, "Night Walks", clearly supports the notion that Romanticism was fallaciously opposed to realism. The paper will examine the ways in which the theme, style, and structure of the essay evoke the preoccupation of a Romantic soul--for whom the walk becomes a space for "encounter and reflection"--and the Romantic mind which is empowered by "imaginative self definition or discovery".展开更多

Thus, this study aims to develop a career decision-making competency model for effective career development among graduating students in Malaysia. The data collected from 1,655 graduating students were tested with confirmatory factor analysis to obtain three best-fit measurement models from the three variables. The findings according to the primary data reveal that there are significant relationships between self-knowledge and career decision-making, and occupational exploration as well as career decision-making. The result for testing invariance of a structural model for multi group analysis showed a validation model of self-knowledge, occupational exploration and career decision making. The findings from this study can be of great benefit to students, researchers, as well as the policy makers in the educational field.展开更多

Traditional vocational assessment research measures it by means of questionnaires and diagnoses the potential sources of career indecision. Based on the diagnostic outcomes, career counselors develop treatment plans tailored to students. However, because of personal motives and the architecture of the mind, it may be difficult for students to know themselves, and the outcome of questionnaires may not fully reflect their inner states and statuses. Selfperception theory suggests that students' behavior could be used as a clue for inference. Thus, we proposed a data-driven framework for forecasting student career choice upon graduation based on their behavior in and around the campus, thereby playing an important role in supporting career counseling and career guidance. By evaluating on 10M behavior data of over four thousand students, we show the potential of this framework for this functionality.展开更多
