Altered Levels of Blood Glucose and Serum Lipids in Sudanese Patients with Ovarian Cancer

Background: The etiology of ovarian cancer is not well-understood;numerous metabolomics profiling, epidemiological, and hospital-based case control studies have associated abnormal levels of blood glucose and serum lipids with the risk and the prognosis of various types of cancers including ovarian cancer. The association between the risk of the incidence of ovarian cancer and the alterations in the levels of blood glucose and serum lipids is not well defined. Objective: In this study we aimed to compare the levels of blood glucose, triacylglycerols, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in patients with different stages of ovarian cancer and healthy controls to determine how they relate to the risk and prognosis of ovarian cancer. Methodology: In a case-control cross sectional study, we enrolled ninety-nine Sudanese women, diagnosed with ovarian cancer but had not received any kind of treatment as the study group, and a control group of forty-one age-matched, apparently healthy women. The patients were classified according to the International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists staging system into two groups: early stages (stage I & II) and late stages (stages III & IV). Blood glucose and serum lipids;triacylglycerols, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol were determined by enzymatic colorimetric methods using commercially available analytical kits. The IBM SPSS version 20 software was used for statistical analysis. A Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparison of the median concentrations of blood glucose, triacylglycerols, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in the study groups. Logistic regression model was used to estimate the relative risk of ovarian cancer in relation to levels of blood glucose and serum lipids. P value of 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Our data indicated significantly higher levels of blood glucose (p < 0.001), triacylglycerols (p = 0.002), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (p < 0.001), and lower levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (p = 0.023), in ovarian cancer patients compared to the control subjects. No significant difference was found in the levels of blood glucose or any of the serum lipids between patients in the early stages (stage I & II) and those in late stages (stage III & IV) of ovarian cancer. The logistic regression analysis indicated significant association between the elevated levels of the blood glucose, triacylglycerols and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and the risk of the ovarian cancer. Conclusion: We conclude that the levels of blood glucose, triacylglycerols, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol differ significantly between ovarian cancer patients and the healthy control subjects. The risk of ovarian cancer was positively associated with the levels of blood glucose, triacylglycerols and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and negatively associated with levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Therefore, determination of blood glucose and serum lipids, particularly, triacylglycerols, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol may be helpful as diagnostic indicators of ovarian cancer (OC). 展开更多

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia. DM-related dyslipidemia are associated with complications resulting from progressive damage of various organs. CD36 is 88-kD, class B scavenger receptor, expressed on different types of cells. In diabetic patients, LDL particles are glycated with strong level;this increases CD36 expression, initiates foam cell formation and accelerates atherosclerosis. Objective: This study aimed to determine the correlation between serum CD36 level and lipid profile among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Zeenam Specialized center, Khartoum State, Sudan, in a period between 2019 and 2022. Methodology: Hundred participants at different ages were included in this study;70 were type 2 diabetic patients (cases) and 30 apparently healthy individual (control). 3 ml of venous blood were collected from the participants by using a sterile needle and syringe into a labeled plain container. Each sample was stood until complete clot occurs. Clotted blood sample was then centrifuged to obtain the serum. Then they were used for measurement of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglyceride and soluble CD36 levels. Total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides were measured using Biosystem chemistry analyzer BTS-302. Serum CD36 was measured using Microplate Reader (URIT-660). Results: The results revealed that serum total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels were significantly higher in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus compared with control (P = 0.03, P = 0.031, P = 0.000, P = 0.000) respectively, while there is no statistically significant differences in serum CD36 level between cases and control (P = 0.129). Also this study showed that there is no statistically significant correlation between serum CD36 level and total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, age and body mass index. Conclusion: This study concluded that there is no statistically significant difference in serum CD36 level between cases and control. And sCD36 level was not correlated with total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, body mass index, and age. 展开更多

Comparison of Serum Lipid Profile between Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and Pregnant Women with Normal Glucose Tolerance

<strong>Background:</strong> Aberrant lipid metabolism presumed to have important relationship with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), though previous studies revealed inconsistent results on this area.&... <strong>Background:</strong> Aberrant lipid metabolism presumed to have important relationship with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), though previous studies revealed inconsistent results on this area.<strong> Objectives:</strong> To identify the difference of serum lipid profile between gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and pregnant woman with normal glucose tolerance (NGT). <strong>Methods:</strong> This cross sectional study was conducted from January 2017 to December 2017 at Department of Endocrinology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh with 31 GDM and equal number of NGT pregnant women diagnosed on the basis of WHO criteria-2013, during 24 - 40 weeks of gestation. Glucose was measured by glucose oxidase method and fasting serum lipid profile [Total cholesterol (TC), High Density Lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) and Triglyceride (TG)] was measured by enzymatic-colorimetric method. Data were analyzed and compared by statistical tests. <strong>Results: </strong>Among total sixty-two (62) study subjects, 31 were GDM (age: 27.52 ± 4.8 years, body mass index (BMI): 27.17 ± 3.3 kg/m<sup>2</sup>) and 31 were pregnant women with NGT (age: 24.94 ± 4.2 years, BMI: 25.43 ± 6.5 kg/m<sup>2</sup>). Mean age of GDM group was significantly higher than that of NGT group (p = 0.028). Women with GDM showed relatively higher BMI than NGT women but that was not statistically significant (p = 0.194). Fasting lipid profiles between GDM and NGT (GDM vs. NGT;total cholesterol: 194.21 ± 42.18 vs. 208.52 ± 42.18 mg/dl, p = 0.187;HDL-C: 47.50 ± 16.17 vs. 47.18 ± 11.71 mg/dl, p = 0.928;LDL-C: 109.25 ± 28.80 vs. 119.30 ± 34.76 mg/dl, p = 0.220 and triglyceride 204.78 ± 58.50 vs. 202.34 ± 79.18 mg/dl, p = 0.891) were not significantly different. The variations in all lipid fraction values were not statistically significant among GDM women when analyzed between BMI groups holding BMI cut-off at 23 kg/m<sup>2</sup>. No significant differences of any values of lipid profile were found in GDM women according to various age categories (Age < 25 years vs. ≥25 years). <strong>Conclusions: </strong>Lipid profile does not differ between women with GDM and pregnant woman with NGT. 展开更多

This study is to assess the potential factors that could affect the serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level in healthy younger men. We evaluated the associations of age, body mass index (BMI) and serum lipid profile with serum PSA level in 6774 Chinese men (aged 20-49 years) who received a routine health examination. Eligible men were classified into 10-year age groups, BMI was categorized as underweight (〈18.5), normal (18.5-22.9), overweight (23.0-24.9), obese (25.0-29,9) and very obese (〉30) according to the redefined World Health Organization (WHO) criteria for the Asia-Pacific region. PSA levels were compared among groups as well, In multiple linear regression analysis, PSA was positively correlated with age (P〈0.0001). Negative correlations existed between PSA and BMI (P〈0.0001) and triglyceride level (P=0.01). No relationship could be found between PSA and serum cholesterol (P=0.711) or high-density lipoprotein (HDL; P =0.665). In addition, we found that serum PSA levels increased with age and decreased with BMI. Our study demonstrates that age, BMI and triglyceride levels influence the PSA level in men 〈50 years of age. 展开更多

Aim Activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor δ (PPARδ) subtypes increases expression of genes involved in fatty acid transport and oxidation and alters adiposity in animal models of obesity and type-2 diabetes. We aim to explore the effects of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor δ (PPARδ) subtypes on serum lipid profiles in obese rhesus monkey, especially evaluate the efficacy of investigational new drug (HS00098). Methods: First, a prototype of obese rhesus monkey was established by continuously feeding test animals a high fat diet for 2 months. Fifteen obese rhesus monkeys were randomly divided into 3 groups, and the 2 test groups were treated with GW 501516 and HS00098. The test groups were administered doses of 0.3 mg/kg for 1 month, then with 1 mg/kg for 1 month, and finally with 3 mg/kg for 1 month. The control group received placebo treatment. In each experiment, the body weight of each animal was measured and recorded initially and prior to changing the dose of the drug each month. The total cholesterol, blood glucose, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, serum Apo-A1, Apo-B100 and insulin were tested. Results: The average body weight gain of the GW501516 and HS00098 groups was significantly lower than that of the control group. The group receiving the HS00098 treatment had a higher signifycant increase in high density lipoprotein and apo-A1 (P < 0.05) than the control monkeys, while the total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoproteins, apo-B100, and insulin (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01) were significantly decreased. Compared with GW50-1516, the effects of HS00098 on serum lipid profiles in diet-induced obese rhesus monkeys are more obvious. Conclusion: These results suggested that the investigational drug (HS00098) can effectively reduce body weight, blood lipid and blood sugar levels of diet-induced obese rhesus monkeys. 展开更多

Macronutrients serve as a source of energy for both gut microbiota and its host. An increase or decrease in macronutrients can either increase or decrease the composition of gut microbiota, leading to gut dysbiosis which has been implicated in many diseases state including non-communicable diseases. To achieve this, seven diets were formulated by restricting 60% of each macronutrient. These diets were fed on 42 albino rats (Wistar), divided into 7 groups of 6 rats each. Group 1 was fed on a normal laboratory chow diet (ND), group 2 received a fat-restricted diet (FRD), group 3 received a protein-restricted diet, (PFD), group 4 received a carbohydrate-restricted diet (CRD), group 5 received a protein and fat-restricted diet (PFRD), group 6 re-ceived a carbohydrate and fat-restricted diet (CFRD) and group 7 received a carbohydrate and protein-restricted diet (CPRD). Feed and water intake were given ad libitum and daily weight and food intake were recorded. The experiment went on for 4 weeks after which animals were sacrificed and intestinal content and blood were collected for analysis (gut microbial composition, glucose, insulin levels, serum lipid, and enzyme). Compared to the control group results showed a decrease in Bacteroides (40.50 - 14.00 CFU), HDL (68.20 - 40.40 mg/dl), and AST (66.62 - 64.74 U/L) in FRD. An increase in AST (66.6 - 69.43 U/L), Bifidobacterial (59.50 - 92.00 CFU) and decreased Bacteroides (40.5 - 19.5 CFU) for PRD was also recorded. CRD reduced Lactobacillus (73 - 33.5 CFU), total bacterial count (129 - 48 CFU), HDL (68.2 - 30.8 mg/dl), and cholesterol (121.44 - 88.65 mg/dl) whereas intestinal composition of E. coli (30.5 - 51.5 CFU) increased. PFRD increased Lactobacillus (73.00 - 102.5 CFU), Bifidobacterial (59.5 - 100 CFU), HDL (68.2 - 74.7 mg/dl), and Triglyceride (111.67 - 146.67 mg/dl) concentration. Meanwhile, a reduction in Bifidobacterial (59.5 - 41.5 CFU), and an increasing of AST (66.62 - 70.30 U/l) were recorded for CFRD. However, Bacteroides (40.5 69.5 CFU), LDL (30.95 - 41.98 mg/dl) increased and Bifidobacterial (59.5 - 38.00 CFU) and HDL (68.2 - 53.5 mg/dl) decreased for CPRD. This work, therefore, concludes that macronutrient restriction causes significant changes in serum marker and enzyme profile, and gut microbial composition which can cause gut dysbiosis and later on could expose the host to inflammatory diseases in the long run. 展开更多

The beneficial aspects of the resultant specialty lipids (SL) on blood lipid chemistry were evaluated using animal models. Serum lipids were analyzed for lipid profile. Animals in the three treatments: Group 1 fed with corn oil, Group 2 fed with a physical blend (PB) of fish oil (FO) and capric acid (CA);and Group 3 fed with specialty lipids (SL) showed a significant (p 0.05) in HDL-c level after 60 days of treatment. Although SL caused an increase in HDL-c level but lower than CO. Animals in CO group showed insignificant increase (p > 0.05) in the level of LDL-c, whereas SL did not cause any change in LDL-c level. On the other hand, the level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) is considerably (p 0.05) concerning TAG, TC, and LDL-c levels, but the only difference between these two groups was in the HDL-c level. The weight of animals was increasing with time in animals fed CO, while it was decreasing with time for animals fed PB and SL. The difference in percent body change between SL and CO was significant (p < 0.05) after 8 weeks of treatment. 展开更多

Palm oil and the heart:A review

This update intends to identify e... Palm oil consumption and its effects on serum lipid levels and cardiovascular disease in humans is still a subject of debate. Advocacy groups with varying agenda fuel the controversy. This update intends to identify evidence-based evaluations of the influence of palm oil on serum lipid profile and cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, it suggests a direction for future research. The sources of information were based on a Pub Med, Google Scholar, African Journal online and Medline search using key words including: palm oil, palmitic acid, saturated fatty acids and heart disease. Published animal and human experiments on the association of palm oil and its constituents on the serum lipid profile and cardiovascular disease were also explored for relevant information. These papers are reviewed and the available evidence is discussed. Most of the information in mainstream literature is targeted at consumers and food companies with a view to discourage the consumption of palm oil. The main argument against the use of palm oil as an edible oil is the fact that it contains palmitic acid, which is a saturated fatty acid and by extrapolation should give rise to elevated total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. However, there are many scientific studies, both in animals and humans that clearly show that palm oil consumption does not give rise to elevated serum cholesterol levels and that palm oil is not atherogenic. Apart from palmitic acid, palm oil consists of oleic and linoleic acids which are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated respectively. Palm oil also consists of vitamins A and E, which are powerful antioxidants. Palm oil has been scientifically shown to protect the heart and blood vessels from plaques and ischemic injuries. Palm oil consumed as a dietary fat as a part of a healthy balanced diet does not have incremental risk for cardiovascular disease. Little or no additional benefit will be obtained by replacing it with other oils rich in mono or polyunsaturated fatty acids. 展开更多

AIM:To evaluate lipid profile in children with coronary artery disease(CAD)in Hyderabad,Sindh,Pakistan.METHODS:The study included 100 children(6-15years),of which 43 were children of young parents(one or both)with recognized CAD,while the other 57 were children with no evidence of CAD(controls).All were evaluated for fasting blood lipid profile.Blood samples were collected from patients with CAD and healthy controls and analysis of the levels of lipid profile were carried out using a kit method on Microlab 300.RESULTS:Children with CAD had significantly higher levels of total serum cholesterol and triglycerides and decreased levels of high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein compared to children in the control group.Systolic and diastolic blood pressures were significantly higher,without any significant difference.CONCLUSION:CAD risk factors are significant regarding abnormal lipid levels.Genetic tendency seems to be important in the development of CAD in children. 展开更多

目的分析2型糖尿病(T2DM)患者采取达格列净联合二甲双胍治疗对其代谢指标的影响。方法100例T2DM患者,随机分为观察组和对照组,每组50例。对照组给予二甲双胍治疗,观察组给予二甲双胍联合达格列净治疗。比较两组患者不良反应(厌食、呕吐... 目的分析2型糖尿病(T2DM)患者采取达格列净联合二甲双胍治疗对其代谢指标的影响。方法100例T2DM患者,随机分为观察组和对照组,每组50例。对照组给予二甲双胍治疗,观察组给予二甲双胍联合达格列净治疗。比较两组患者不良反应(厌食、呕吐、便秘、尿路感染)发生情况以及治疗前后血脂[低密度脂蛋白胆固醇(LDL-C)、高密度脂蛋白胆固醇(HDL-C)、甘油三酯(TG)、总胆固醇(TC)]、血糖[餐后2 h血糖(2 h PG)、空腹血糖(FPG)、糖化血红蛋白(HbA1c)]、血清指标[同型半胱氨酸(Hcy)、C反应蛋白(CRP)、尿微量白蛋白与肌酐比值(ACR)、胱抑素C(Cys-C)]水平。结果观察组不良反应发生率为6.00%,与对照组的16.00%比较,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。治疗后,观察组LDL-C(2.60±0.30)mmol/L、TG(1.44±0.53)mmol/L、TC(4.02±0.77)mmol/L低于对照组的(3.79±0.47)、(2.38±0.66)、(5.74±0.84)mmol/L,HDL-C(1.37±0.16)mmol/L高于对照组的(1.22±0.10)mmol/L,差异具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。治疗后,观察组2 h PG(6.10±1.08)mmol/L、FPG(5.13±1.31)mmol/L、HbA1c(6.20±0.85)%均低于对照组的(7.57±1.14)mmol/L、(6.68±1.42)mmol/L、(7.88±1.21)%,差异具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。治疗后,观察组Hcy(9.35±1.01)μmol/L、CRP(1.51±0.34)mg/L、ACR(19.81±2.74)mg/g、Cys-C(0.81±0.10)mg/L均低于对照组的(11.11±1.88)μmol/L、(2.00±0.43)mg/L、(21.32±2.76)mg/g、(0.87±0.12)mg/L,差异具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论T2DM患者使用二甲双胍+达格列净治疗可对血糖控制效果进一步提升,使机体微炎症状态有效减轻,使血脂水平有效改善,同时存在良好的安全性,在对适应证严格掌握的状态下可将其作为提升降糖效果的理想措施。 展开更多

目的探讨不同程度2型糖尿病(T2DM)合并视网膜病变(DR)患者糖脂代谢指标、血清者血清25羟维生素D[25(OH)D]、血管内皮生长因子(VEGF)水平的变化及临床意义。方法选择2019年6月至2021年月6月西安航天总医院内分泌科收治的210例T2DM患者作... 目的探讨不同程度2型糖尿病(T2DM)合并视网膜病变(DR)患者糖脂代谢指标、血清者血清25羟维生素D[25(OH)D]、血管内皮生长因子(VEGF)水平的变化及临床意义。方法选择2019年6月至2021年月6月西安航天总医院内分泌科收治的210例T2DM患者作为研究对象,根据患者病变情况分组,其中单纯T2DM者为T2DM组(n=70)、增殖型DR者为PDR组(n=80)、单纯型DR者为BDR组(n=60),同期选择75例体检健康者为对照组。比较各组受试者空腹血糖(FPG)、糖化血红蛋白(HbAlc)、总胆固醇(TC)、三酰甘油(TG)、低密度脂蛋白(LDL-C)、高密度脂蛋白(HDL-C)及25(OH)D、VEGF水平,采用Pearson法分析血清25(OH)D、VEGF与糖脂代谢指标间的相关性。结果对照组健康者的FPG、HbAlc、TC、TG、LDL-C、HDL-C水平分别为(5.09±0.75)mmol/L、(4.57±0.71)%、(4.81±0.69)mmol/L、(1.29±0.23)mmol/L、(2.71±0.38)mmol/L、(1.09±0.22)mmol/L,明显低于T2DM组的(8.78±1.34)mmol/L、(8.71±1.29)%、(5.41±0.98)mmol/L、(1.91±0.38)mmol/L、(3.87±0.73)mmol/L、(1.48±0.31)mmol/L、BDR组的(10.28±2.74)mmol/L、(10.72±1.97)%、(6.52±1.25)mmol/L、(2.71±0.52)mmol/L、(3.98±0.51)mmol/L、(2.01±0.19)mmol/L和PDR组的(13.29±3.12)mmol/L、(13.09±2.87)%、(7.82±0.98)mmol/L、(3.69±0.62)mmol/L、(4.91±0.72)mmol/L、(2.98±0.36)mmol/L,而T2DM组患者的上述指标水平明显低于BDR组和PDR组,BDR组上述指标明显低于PDR组,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);对照组健康者的25(OH)D水平为(20.98±4.29)ng/mL,明显高于T2DM组的(13.44±2.15)ng/mL、BDR组的(8.29±1.92)ng/mL和PDR组的(4.89±0.77)ng/mL,而T2DM组又明显高于BDR组和PDR组,BDR组明显高于PDR组,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);对照组健康者的VEGF水平为(5.98±1.21)g/L,明显低于T2DM组的(8.21±2.10)g/L、BDR组的(14.34±3.82)g/L和PDR组的(19.39±4.28)g/L,而T2DM组又明显低于BDR组和PDR组,BDR组明显低于PDR组,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);经Pearson相关性分析结果显示:T2DM合并DR患者的血清25(OH)D水平与FPG、HbAlc、TC、TG、LDL-C、HDL-C水平呈负相关(P<0.05),而VEGF水平与FPG、HbAlc、TC、TG、LDL-C、HDL-C水平呈正相关(P<0.05)。结论糖脂代谢指标、血清25(OH)D、VEGF共同参与了T2DM合并DR的发生及发展,且与病情严重程度紧密相关。 展开更多

【目的】研究缩合单宁对大规格大口黑鲈生长性能和肝脏健康的影响,为缩合单宁在大口黑鲈饲料中的应用提供参考。【方法】选取初始体重为510(±10.4)g的大规格大口黑鲈600尾,随机分为4组,每组3个重复,每个重复50尾鱼。对照组为基础饲... 【目的】研究缩合单宁对大规格大口黑鲈生长性能和肝脏健康的影响,为缩合单宁在大口黑鲈饲料中的应用提供参考。【方法】选取初始体重为510(±10.4)g的大规格大口黑鲈600尾,随机分为4组,每组3个重复,每个重复50尾鱼。对照组为基础饲料(G1),试验组分别在基础饲料中添加0.1%(G2)、0.2%(G3)、0.4%(G4)的缩合单宁,试验期为30 d。【结果】与G1组相比,G4组饲料系数显著升高17.44%,存活率显著下降15.79%(P<0.05),G2、G3、G4组腹脂率分别显著下降12.03%、16.18%、13.69%(P<0.05)。各组之间采食量、增重率、特定生长率无显著差异;G4组血清葡萄糖、总胆固醇、甘油三酯的含量分别显著下降49.73%、28.46%、35.71%(P<0.05),G3、G4组血清低密度脂蛋白胆固醇含量分别显著下降38.71%、51.61%(P<0.05)。各组之间白蛋白、球蛋白、高密度脂蛋白胆固醇的含量及谷丙转氨酶、谷草转氨酶的活性均无显著差异;随着缩合单宁添加量升高,大规格大口黑鲈“脂肪肝”问题逐渐改善,肝脏组织空泡化、炎症浸润现象减轻,肝脏脂肪含量及脂滴面积比显著下降。【结论】饲料中添加适量缩合单宁(0.1%、0.2%)不仅不影响大规格大口黑鲈的存活率和饲料系数,还能促进其糖脂代谢,降低腹脂和肝脂水平,改善肝脏健康。以肝脏健康为评价依据,缩合单宁在大口黑鲈饲料中的适宜添加量为0.2%。 展开更多

To study the relationship of the polymorphism of endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS)gene and blood pressure,lipid profiles and blood glucose level.By using PCR-RFLP,the eNOS Glu298Asp gene polymorphism was detected in 184 patients with essential hypertension and 196 matched healthy individuals with normal blood pressure.Taking into account eNOS Glu298Asp poly-morphisms,the relationship of blood pressure with trigly-cerides(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high density lipoprotein(HDL),low density lipoprotein(LDL)and blood glucose level was analyzed.The distribution of eNOS Glu298Asp polymorphism had no significant differ-ence between different blood pressure groups and gender groups,but there was a significant difference between dif-ferent age groups,diastolic blood pressure groups or BMI groups(P<0.05).Asp/Asp genotype significantly increased the risk of hypertension in individuals with serum TC above 5.4 mmol/L(P=0.03,OR=52.65).eNOS Glu298Asp polymorphism and serum lipid could synergis-tically modulate the blood pressure.eNOS Asp/Asp geno-type could significantly increase the risk of hypertension in individuals with serum TC over 5.4 mmol/L.eNOS Glu298Asp in combination with serum TC could be used to predict the risk of hypertension. 展开更多
