Resilience and Stability in Organizations Employing Cloud Computing in the Financial Services Industry

The services and solutions offered by cloud computing continue to grow, just as the number of organizations relying on the service. Cloud computing has become prevalent in the financial services industry, where 83% of financial services institutions identified cloud computing as a primary element of their infrastructure. Although there are specific benefits of cloud computing that organizations rely on such as access to critical services and lower costs, there is the possibility that cloud computing will create costs for organizations. The purpose of the study was to present an intensive review of the benefits and threats by investigating resilience and stability of the organizations in financial services industry that use cloud computing as their primary element of infrastructure. Data collected from the interview was used to answer original research questions, which are: How are organizations in the financial services industry resilient when faced with threats or losses associated with the use of cloud computing in their organization? How do organizations in the financial services industry maintain stability when faced with threats or losses associated with the use of cloud computing in their organization? The study supports the advancement of knowledge by identifying the threats and losses that occur due to the use of cloud computing, and organizations understand common threats and thus implement proper mitigation.

Analysis of Standards Establishment for the Testing of Electrical Appliances

As science and technology continue to develop,power equipment has become an indispensable part of industrial production and daily life.Whether it is the precise automation machinery utilized on production lines or the convenient electrical appliances found in households,their functionality relies heavily on electrical technology.Nonetheless,without stringent safety and performance assurances,these devices could potentially endanger lives and property.Thus,this paper explores the development strategy for establishing a standardized system within the electrical testing service industry,aiming to ensure safety and reliability.

Global trends and development of energy services industry in China

Energy service is an effective way to promote energy conservation by market mechanisms,including energy saving services,energy procurement,supply of many varieties of energy,supply of renewable energy technologies,energy-related consulting services,risk management,etc.China is a major energy consumer but energy is in short supply,and the efficiency of energy use is low.China's energy service industry has expanded rapidly,in terms of both the number of new Energy Service Companies entering the market and amount of capital invested in Energy Performance Contracting projects,but the energy service sector in China is still at an early stage of development.Developed countries began early in developing the energy service sector and their energy service market is mature,and the experience of developed countries shows that energy services play a significant role in advancing energy saving and emission reduction.Under the new situation,China needs combine energy services experience of developed countries,and take following measures to accelerate China's energy services rapid and healthy development,including the long-term aspects of policy planning,energy-saving core technology,finance and capital investment,public sector reductions,personnel training,and so on.

Innovative Business Model Canvas for Foreign Entrepreneurship in Food Service Industry

This study aims to utilize the business model canvas to explore foreign entrepreneurial strategies in Taiwan.The contribution of business model canvas is expected to assist entrepreneurs to build up more effective decisions and judgements as well as increase the probability of success.This study is divided into three major phases.First,the research framework and interview outline were established on the basis of relevant literatures review.Next,this paper used semi-structured interviews for six foreign entrepreneurs.Through the content analysis of interview results,a new 10 building blocks of business model canvas in the food service industry for foreign entrepreneurship was thereafter developed.The results of the analysis would enable foreign entrepreneurs who would like to establish business in Taiwan to review as potential strategies,as well as a further reference to attract foreigners who would like to start new business ventures in Taiwan.

Development of service industry in Shandong province based on input-output method

Based on 2012 input-output table of Shandong province and the official statistics, this article uses the input-output analysis method to build the input-output table. On the basis of the development of service industry in Shandong province's ability, we make a theoretical analysis framework of a comprehensive in-depth analysis on pull employment, creatively will cost tax rate, fully and completely labor capital and the combination of both the industry development space. So that the industry's ability to pull the employment can be considered, and to realize rapid and sustained development of service industry in Shandong province.

The Impact of Digital Economy on Total Factor Productivity of China’s Service Industry

As a kind of integrated economy,digital economy has an important impact on the economic growth and production and lifestyle of multiple countries and regions,and plays a significant role in promoting the reconstruction of the international economic pattern.As an important industry of China’s national economy,the service industry is crucial to China’s economic growth.This paper measures the development level of digital economy in provinces and cities through constructing digital economy index system,uses super efficiency SBM-Malmquist model to measure total factor productivity of service industry,and tests the influence effect of digital economy on total factor productivity of Chinese service industry.Finally,the optimization path of digital economy on China’s service industry is proposed.

Library's industrial technology information service in science parks—Taking NSL's practice as an example

Purpose:The purpose of this paper is to explore how libraries can develop service and product strategies and the service support mechanism to provide industrial technology information service in science parks.Design/methodology/approach:The analysis is based on a case study of a large Chinese research library,National Science Library(NSL),the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS),in serving high-tech companies in Zhongguancun Science Park(Z-Park).Findings:NSL’s practices suggested that in serving business clients,libraries’ product and service strategies should be based on the understanding of users’ needs.Aside from those services that have been recognized by clients such as document retrieval & delivery and novelty search,libraries may expand their service and provide in-depth information analysis and consultation for some key clients.Moreover,a service and product development system should be established,which differentiates the libraries’ products and services from those of their competitors.In providing industrial technology information service,libraries need to construct the service support mechanism,publicize their service and learn to cooperate with clients to meet their demands for knowledge management and innovation.Research limitations:The generalizability of the findings is limited because they are based on an individual case study.Practical implications:Our service practices provide useful information for other libraries to expand their information service to high-tech companies in the new information environment.Originality/value:Z-Park is the first and one of the largest science and technology parks in China.Hence NSL’s practices in serving high-tech companies in Z-Park can be valuable to other libraries that intend to take up the similar service.

Research on the Law of Garlic Price Based on Big Data

In view of the frequent fluctuation of garlic price under the market economy and the current situation of garlic price,the fluctuation of garlic price in the circulation link of garlic industry chain is analyzed,and the application mode of multidisciplinary in the agricultural industry is discussed.On the basis of the big data platform of garlic industry chain,this paper constructs a Garch model to analyze the fluctuation law of garlic price in the circulation link and provides the garlic industry service from the angle of price fluctuation combined with the economic analysis.The research shows that the average price rate of the price of garlic shows“agglomeration”and cyclical phenomenon,which has the characteristics of fragility,left and a non-normal distribution and the fitting value of the GARCH model is very close to the true value.Finally,it looks into the industrial service form from the perspective of garlic price fluctuation.

Leading High-Quality Development of Service Industry with Institutional Innovation

To realize the transition from high-speed growth to high-quality development,it is necessary not only to change the way and path of economic growth,but also to speed up the improvement of the institutional system that is compatible with highquality development.China has unique institutional advantages in promoting the high-quality development of the service industry(HQDSI),but the service industry is a typical institution-intensive industry that faces higher institutional barriers than the manufacturing industry.Therefore,institutional reform and business environment optimization are particularly important to the promotion of HQDSI,and the effect is also very prominent.Facing the future,we should lead HQDSI by building a high-standard socialist market economy,promote the high-quality and efficient development of the service industry by standardizing it,and encourage the innovation and entrepreneurship of the industry by improving the institutional environment,thus steadily boosting HQDSI in the new era of reform and opening up.

The Difference of Capital Input and Productivity in Service Industries: Based on Four Stages Bootstrap-DEA Model

Based on the concept of productive capital stock, this paper estimated capital input by three asset types of China’s 36 service industries in 2003–2015, and compared with the results of wealth capital stock. This study found that the wealth capital stock method underestimates the actual capital input in each sector in varying degrees, and it may interference the accuracy of productivity evaluation in sectors. According to the new estimation results of capital input, this paper further applied four stages bootstrap-DEA method to estimate industrial productivity, and calculated its confidence intervals. This study found that, the years of education and the average wage have a significant positive impact on the productivity of service industries; the productive services have a short board effect in the whole service industry.

The Impact and Spillover Effects of Chinese Ports on Urban Service Industry under De-maritimization:A Perspective for Port Economic Geography Analysis

Will ports become less important in a post-industrial period dominated by service industries?This paper examines the impact and the spillover effects of ports on city economies.The results show that ports contribute to city economies primarily through producer and consumer services.To be specific,ports can drive the development of port-related producer services,and port spillover effects from other cities have a broader impact on producer services;the port contributes to the development of wholesale and retail trades in the local city but the boost to consumer services comes mainly from spillover effects from other ports.This paper concludes that ports are still shaping economic geography by influencing the service sector,and inter-city coordination mechanisms are suggested because of the spillover effects.

The Promotion of Deep Integration of Modern Service Industry and Advanced Manufacturing Industry

Industry integration is a significant trend in modern economic system and industrial development.It has been proved by both theory and practice that choosing the path of integrated development is the inevitable course for expanding the modern industrial system,extending the industry boundary and improving industry competitiveness.The modern service industry and advanced manufacturing industry with the core feature of innovation and development under the leadership of technology need to satisfy the high standard and requirement of development quality,comprehensive competitiveness,demand shift and green development.Under the development trend of“integration of two industries”,profound changes have taken place in the status,industrial form and agglomeration mode of producer services.New models are emerging in the integrated development of advanced manufacturing and modern service industries in the aspects of innovation,input,output,demand and region.To accelerate the in-depth development of“integration of two industries”,under the precondition of respecting the choice of market supply and demand and industrial development trends,the government needs to exert targeted force in supporting key integrated areas,organizing working mechanisms orderly and standardizing market access regulations,and fostering diversified integration development entities and establishing talent systems.

RE-ENGINEERING TRANSFORMER MAINTENANCE PROCESSES TO IMPROVE CUSTOMIZED SERVICE DELIVERY

The outage of a transformer in a power generation system will generally result in a shutdown of the entire system. Consequentially, large amounts of revenue are lost to the plant owner with a substantial negative impact on the civil community and industrial customers. This paper analyzes the current maintenance practices （i.e., an as-is process model） of a transformer manufacturing company, which provides maintenance services to power generation plants and reports the major weaknesses in current business practices. The maintenance weaknesses include isolated processes and paper based information communication. These inefficient processes result in service delays, cost increases, and inappropriate responses to customers＇ specific requests and complaints. To improve the efficiency and flexibility of the entire transformer maintenance service system, an e-integration approach is implemented with three key tasks. First, the current business processes are re-engineered to provide an improved （to-be） business model. Then, we replace paper based documentation methods with an electronic filing system for efficient and cost-effective information exchange. Afterward, the improved process model is implemented as an Internet based system to enhance the interactions among the transformer manufacturer, end-users, and service contractors for customized maintenance services. The case study demonstrates that implementing the e-integration approach increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the customized maintenance services.

A great leap forward:how to choose strategies and policies to promote the Chinese service industry

The development level of the service industry is an important indicator to measure the level of economic and social development and the optimization of the economic structure.As the status of the service industry in the Chinese economy is increasing,it is playing a more important role in boosting economic growth,promoting employment and adjusting the economic structure.China is facing an unprecedented opportunity to develop its service industry.There is vast potential for the future development of producer services,consumer services,and new service industries.Development of a modern service industry should be oriented toward strategies to foster industrial convergence and industrial clustering,boosting creativity and openness.The authorities need to abolish over-regulations on finance,taxation,investment,land and talents,facilitating the development of service industry.

Promoting China’s Industrial Upgrading by Expanding the Opening-Up of Service Industry:Intrinsic Logic and Realization Approach

Tertiarization and service globalization are becoming an irreversible trend,which is highlighted in the following aspects:the value added of service industry is contributing more and more to the GDP of major economies,service industry is becoming the main channel to absorb social employment,and the service trade has become the most active mode of international trade.In building the export-oriented economic development strategy,expanding the opening-up of service industry not only is essential to the high-quality development of service industry,but also can realize the transformation and upgrading of China’s economy by improving the resource allocation efficiency of manufacturing industry through the integration of industry development.It is a huge systematic project to promote the industrial upgrading by expanding the opening-up of service industry,which requires comprehensive measures:continuously optimizing the institutional environment for the development and opening-up of service industry,taking the development of productive service industry and two-way opening-up as the priority,promoting the international competitiveness of service trade by“entering WTO for the second time”,recognizing the role of“digital plus”in the service opening-up and industrial upgrading;building a financial system to meet the needs of an open economy.

Research on China City Network Based on Producer Service Industries

Based on the concept of the world city network(WCN), this paper analyzes city network that is based on producer service industries in China's Mainland at three levels. The corresponding findings include: firstly, at the sub-node level, the location decision-making of producer service industries is no longer merely dependent on linear expansion along the hinterland to establish spatial monopoly, but on a network layout mode based on setting up branch offices in core cities to maximize the profits; secondly, at the city node level, Beijing and Shanghai have become the two major cities for the agglomeration of producer service industries. The coastal city clusters are the principal areas for the concentration of producer service industries, while the majority of other cities are in the peripheral area of the network where there are comparatively low connectivities; thirdly, at the city network level, the primacy effect of Beijing and Shanghai in the city network is extremely signifi cant and the linkage among core cities, namely, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, in the three major city clusters forms the core network of the producer service industries in China's Mainland.

This paper introduces the background of development of the producer service sector in China.According to detailed statistics,several development characteristics are analyzed in the various aspects such as the proportion and scale,absolute development level,internal structure,contribution rate to GDP,labor productivity,investment returns,foreign direct investment,and so on.Then,it summarizes the development experiences of China’s producer services in regards to theoretical innovation,development strategies,traction roles,development of sub-sectors,supply innovation,and expansion of openness levels.Finally,it analyzes several problems in China’s producer service sector during the course of development,concerning development level,internal structure,exporting capacity,and regional distribution of China’s producer services.It points out the development direction of softening production factors.

A study of the correlation between per capita income and the proportion of the service industry during China’s economic transition

Based on a provincial panel threshold regression model with per capita GDP as the threshold variable,this paper explores the correlation between per capita GDP and the proportion of employment in the service industry in different stages of China’s economic development.The results show that no matter the development stage,there is always a positive correlation between the two.The results also show that the more advanced the economic development stage,the bigger and more obvious is the regression coefficient.The empirical results based on stochastic frontier analysis(SFA)modeling indicate that the development of the service industry can always contribute to the improvement of national economic efficiency by creating employment opportunities and enhancing efficiencies in related industries.The more developed an economy is,the more significant is the effect.The results of descriptive statistics suggest that there is no empirical factual basis to support the belief that it is normal for China to have a low service industry proportion at its current economic development stage.This paper seeks to illustrate the negative influence of an underdeveloped service industry on China’s economy,and to encourage leapfrog development of the service industry in China.

Why rapid urbanization can’t improve employment absorption capacity of service industry in China:reflections on innovating the model of interaction between service industry development and urbanization under economic transformation and upgrading

Mathematical models show that the urbanization process is an important factor affecting the transfer of labor among economic sectors.The regression results using time-series data since China’s reform and opening up show that there is significant positive correlation between urbanization and the service industry’s ability to create jobs.However,there is no Granger Causation between them.Therefore,China should shift from focusing on industry park construction to paying more attention to improving urban functions by increasing their employment density of urban services.
