This paper presents a discrete-time design of robust compositenonlinear controller to achieve fast and accurate set-pointtracking for motor servo systems subject to actuator saturationand disturbances.The basic idea here is to use a combination oflinear and nonlinear control,together with a disturbancerejection mechanism based on extended state observer.The linearcontrol part is designed to yield a fast response,and thenonlinear part serves to reduce the overshoot,while the extendedstate observer estimates simultaneously the state vector and theunknown disturbance for control and compensation.The closed-loopstability is analyzed using the Lyapunov theory.Practicalapplication in a permanent magnet synchronous motor position servosystem is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposedcontrol scheme. 展开更多

A backstepping method based adaptive robust dead-zone compensation controller is pro- posed for the electro-hydraulic servo systems (EHSSs) with unknown dead-zone and uncertain system parameters. Variable load is seen as a sum of a constant and a variable part. The constant part is regarded as a parameter of the system to be estimated real time. The variable part together with the friction are seen as disturbance so that a robust term in the controller can be adopted to reject them. Compared with the traditional dead-zone compensation method, a dead-zone compensator is incor- porated in the EH$S without constructing a dead-zone inverse. Combining backstepping method, an adaptive robust controller (ARC) with dead-zone compensation is formed. An easy-to-use ARC tuning method is also proposed after a further analysis of the ARC structure. Simulations show that the proposed method has a splendid tracking performance, all the uncertain parameters can be estimated, and the disturbance has been rejected while the dead-zone term is well estimated and compensated. 展开更多

An Experimental Study on Microcomputer Control of Pump Controlled Motor Systems

This kind of system has the advantage of energy-saving. But, it also has some defects that have to be improved. Microcomputer control of a pump controlled motor electrohydraulic servo system is studied. A PID controller is first adopted on the closed loop control system, and experimental results are obtained. Then, a model reference adaptive controller is designed and realised on the same system applying a single board microcomputer. Experimental results show that the dynamic properties of the adaptive control system is much better than those of the PID system under different inertia load conditions. 展开更多

The model parameters of the nonlinear systemtreated as functions of measured operating points and faults are estimated by HNN. Boththe nominal model of the healthy system and HNN training models corresponding to everyoperating point are recognized. In addition, the anticipated fault models corresponding toevery kind of fault and every operating point are obtaind in advance. The real systemmodel parameters of the system estimated by generalization process of HNN are matchedwith the nominal models of the healthy system and anticipated fault models. Consequent-ly, the final result of fault detection and diagnosis is acquired. The approach to fault diag-nosis is used in an aircraft actuating poisition servo system and the simulation resu1t is re-ported. 展开更多

Natural properties of high speed on-off valves can be described through their on-off behavior and spool movement (static and oscillating) characteristics. High speed on-off valves can be combined with actuators in systems into four typical types of composite valves whose static characteristics are related not only to the structures of the single valves and the composite ones, but also to the PWM control modes. It is proved that the composite valves have similar features as those of servo valves. The nonlinear specific properties of single valves composited can be completely compensated by the suitable PWM control modes. 展开更多

A novel adaptive robust control (ARC) is presented for the four-motor driving servo systems with the uncertain nonlinearities and actuation failures, such that the load tracking control is achieved with the proximate optimal-time. By applying the proposed scheme, several control objectives are achieved. First, the nonlinear synchronization algorithm is presented to maintain the velocity synchronization of each motor, which provides fast convergence without chatting. Moreover, the time-varying bias torque is applied to eliminate the effect of backlash and reduce the waste of energy. Then, the ARC is designed to achieve the proximate optimal-time output tracking with the transient performance in L2 norm, where the friction and actuation failures are addressed by the adaptive scheme based on the norm estimation of unknown parameter vector. Finally, the extensive simulated and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

In this paper, taking two degrees of freedom on the armature–flapper assembly into account, a seventh-order model is deduced and proposed for the dynamic response of a two-stage electro-hydraulic servo valve from nonlinear equations. These deductions are based on fundamental laws of electromagnetism, fluid, and general mechanics. The coefficients of the proposed seventhorder model are derived in terms of servo valve physical parameters and fluid properties explicitly.For validating the results of the proposed model, an AMESim simulation model based on physical laws and the existing low-order models validated by other researchers through experiments are used to compare with the seventh-order model. The results show that the seventh-order model can reflect the physical behavior of the servo valve more explicitly than the existing low-order models and it could provide guidance more easily for a linear control design approach and sensitivity analysis than the AMESim simulation model. 展开更多
