We demonstrate an adjustable pure dispersion slope compensating-module based on strain-chirped fiber Bragg gratings. The center wavelength of the module is preserved while the pure dispersion slope is tuned.
The preparation of the iron-based catalysts promoted by cobalt with a small amount of copper and aluminum for the high temperature shift reaction(HTS)with different sequences of adding catalyst raw materials during ne...The preparation of the iron-based catalysts promoted by cobalt with a small amount of copper and aluminum for the high temperature shift reaction(HTS)with different sequences of adding catalyst raw materials during neutralization and precipitation was investigated.XRD,BET and particle size distribution(PSD)were used to characterize the prepared catalysts.It was found that the catalyst crystals were allγ-Fe 2 O3,and the intermediate of the catalyst after aging was Fe3O4.The crystallographic form of the catalyst and its intermediate was not affected by the addition sequence in the neutralization and precipitation process.The results showed that the specific surface area and the particle size of the catalysts depended on the addition sequence to the mother liquor. Cobalt with a small amount of copper and aluminum could increase the specific surface area and decrease the particle size of catalysts.展开更多
The effect of potassium-decoration was studied on the activity of water-gas shift (WGS) reaction over the Co-Mo-based catalysts supported on active carbon (AC), which was prepared by incipient wetness co-impregnation ...The effect of potassium-decoration was studied on the activity of water-gas shift (WGS) reaction over the Co-Mo-based catalysts supported on active carbon (AC), which was prepared by incipient wetness co-impregnation method. The decoration of potassium on active carbon in advance enhances the activities of the CoMo-K/AC catalysts for WGS reaction. Highest activity (about 92% conversion) was obtained at 250 ? C for the catalyst with an optimum K 2 O/AC weight ratio in the range from 0.12 to 0.15. The catalysts were characterized by TPR and EPR, and the results show that activated carbon decorated with potassium makes Co-Mo species highly dispersed, and thus easily reduced and sulfurized. XRD results show that an appropriate content of potassium-decoration on active carbon supports may favors the formation of highly dispersed Co 9 S 8 -type structures which are situated on the edge or a site in contact with MoS 2 , K-Mo-O-S, Mo-S-K phase. Those active species are responsible for the high activity of CoMo-K/AC catalysts.展开更多

To enhance the effici...Use of multidisciplinary analysis in reliabilitybased design optimization(RBDO) results in the emergence of the important method of reliability-based multidisciplinary design optimization(RBMDO). To enhance the efficiency and convergence of the overall solution process,a decoupling algorithm for RBMDO is proposed herein.Firstly, to decouple the multidisciplinary analysis using the individual disciplinary feasible(IDF) approach, the RBMDO is converted into a conventional form of RBDO. Secondly,the incremental shifting vector(ISV) strategy is adopted to decouple the nested optimization of RBDO into a sequential iteration process composed of design optimization and reliability analysis, thereby improving the efficiency significantly. Finally, the proposed RBMDO method is applied to the design of two actual electronic products: an aerial camera and a car pad. For these two applications, two RBMDO models are created, each containing several finite element models(FEMs) and relatively strong coupling between the involved disciplines. The computational results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多

Instead of color quantization algorithm, an automatic classification method based on adaptive mean shift (AMS) based clustering is used for nonparametric clustering of image data set. The clustering results are used to construct Gaussian mixture modelling (GMM) of image data for the calculation of soft J value. The region growing algorithm used in JSEG is then applied in segmenting the image based on the multiscale soft J-images. Experiments show that the synergism of JSEG and the soft classification based on AMS based clustering and GMM overcomes the limitations of JSEG successfully and is more robust.展开更多
Channel assignment is a challenge for distributed cognitive networks due to spectrum mobility and lack of centralized entity.We present a dynamic and efficient algorithm via conflict shifting,referred as Shifting-base...Channel assignment is a challenge for distributed cognitive networks due to spectrum mobility and lack of centralized entity.We present a dynamic and efficient algorithm via conflict shifting,referred as Shifting-based Channel Assignment(SCA).In this algorithm,the system was modeled with a conflict graph,and users cannot assign the channels that primary users(legacy users) and neighbors already occupied.In order to eliminate the conflicts between neighbors efficiently,secondary users(unlicensed users) try to transfer them through a straight path to the boundary,where conflicts are easier to solve as there are less neighbors for boundary users.Actions in one shift are executed in slots,and users act in a synchronous and separated manner.As a result,some of the conflicting channels are avoid from directly abandoned,and for this,utility of the entire network can be improved.Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can provide similar utility performance while obviously reducing the communication cost than bargaining-base algorithms.In small scale networks with low user mobility(under 20%),it reduces 50% of the communication overhead than the later.展开更多

In this study, we optimized the con...Cell-based assays represent a major end point of high throughput screening (HTS) but a key limitation of such assays is the potentially poor membrane permeability of test compounds. In this study, we optimized the conditions for the delivery of the membrane impermeable compound 8-hydroxypyrene-1,3,6-trisulfonic acid trisodium salt (HPTS) into human cells using hypotonic shift;a method that can promote the uptake of molecules from the extracellular fluid into cell cytoplasm via endocytosis. We showed that uptake of HPTS by cells was a function of hypotonic buffer osmolarity and that delivery was highly efficient with almost 100% of cells displaying uptake. Delivery of HPTS was equally effective at 25°C and 37°C, with delivery of compound proportional to incubation time and concentration of HPTS within the loading medium. The experimental conditions identified in this study could be applied to HTS drug discovery studies providing an effective method of delivering small membrane impermeable compounds into cells.展开更多

The assay results indicate that the presulfided Co-Mo/MgO-Al2O3 catalyst exhibits an excellent catalytic activity and stability. XRD and EPR characterization results show that the O-S exchange might occur during the impregnation, leading to the formation of (NH4)2MoS4 (or (NH4)2MoxSy) precursor, which was then thermally decomposed and reduced to MoS2. The higher catalytic performance is attributed to an optimization formation of active Co-Mo sulfides, consisting of well dispersed MoS2 and Co-Mo-S phase due to the redispersion of Co sulfide particles over the edges of newly formed MoS2 crystallites.展开更多
