A novel route to enhance high-temperature mechanical property and thermal shock resistance of low-carbon Mgo-C bricks by introducing ZrSiO_(4)

Conventional MgO-C bricks(graphite content>14 wt.%)produce a great deal of greenhouse gas emission,while low-carbon MgO-C bricks have serious thermal shock resistance during high-temperature service.To enhance the high-temperature mechanical property and thermal shock resistance of low-carbon MgO-C bricks,a novel route of introducing ZrSiO_(4) powder into low-carbon MgO-C bricks was reported in such refractories with 2 wt.% flaky graphite.The results indicate that the low-carbon MgO-C brick with 0.5 wt.%ZrSiO_(4) addition has the maximum hot modulus of rupture at 1400℃ and the corresponding specimen fired in the carbon embedded atmosphere has the maximum residual strength ratio(98.6%)after three thermal shock cycles.It is found that some needle-like AlON and plate-like Al_(2)O_(3)-ZrO_(2) composites were in situ formed in the matrices after the low-carbon MgO-C bricks were coked at 1400℃,which can enhance the high-temperature mechanical property and thermal shock resistance due to the effect of fiber toughening and particle toughening.Moreover,CO_(2) emission of the newly developed low-carbon MgO-C bricks is reduced by 58.3% per ton steel after using them as the working lining of a 90 t vacuum oxygen decarburization ladle. 展开更多

Effect of silane and zirconia on the thermal property of cathodic electrophoretic coating on AZ31 magnesium alloy

Magnesium alloys,the lightest structural metal,are used in the field of aeronautics and astronautics more and more,however they are still limited for the poor corrosion resistant and high temperature property.In order to satisfy the need of long time store and short time operation at elevated temperature,coating with excellent corrosion resistance and thermal resistance was prepared on the surface of Mg alloy AZ31B.The cathodic electrophoretic deposition was applied for the preparation of coating.The bonding of organic electrophoretic deposition coating with substrate was improved using silane pretreatment.Nano-ZrO_(2) powder treated by silane was added into electrophoretic deposition solution.The corrosion resistance property of electrophoretic coating was evaluated using Machu test,and thermal characteristic using the thermal shock experiment and DTA respectively.The morphology of the coating was examined by SEM.It is found that both the corrosion resistant and thermal shock resistant properties can be improved by modifying the Mg specimen with APS silane,while adding nano-ZrO_(2)powder treated by GPS silane to the coating has the optimal effect.And the results also show that the main reason of the coating damage after thermal shock at 400°C or 500°C is mainly for the thermal stress. 展开更多

We address the effects of processing parameters on residual stresses and fatigue properties of LY2 Al alloy by laser shock processing (LSP). Results show that compressive residual stresses are generated near the surface of samples due to LSP. The maximum compressive residual stress at the surface by two LSP impacts on one side is higher than that by one LSP impact. The maximum value of tensile residual stress is found at the mid-plane of samples subjected to two-sided LSP. Compared with fatigue lives of samples treated by single-sided LSP, lives of those treated by two-sided LSP are lower. However, these are higher than untreated ones. 展开更多

It is well known that developing well-balanced schemes for the balance laws is useful for reducing numerical errors.In this paper,a well-balanced weighted compact nonlinear scheme(WCNS)is proposed for shallow water equations in prebalanced forms.The scheme is proved to be well-balanced provided that the source term is treated appropriately as the advection term.Some numerical examples in oneand two-dimensions are also presented to demonstrate the well-balanced property,high order accuracy and good shock capturing capability of the proposed scheme. 展开更多
