Two fields of surface runoff were separately set up in R. pseudoacacia stand and its clearcut area in the western Liaoning Province (1850-12225 E, 4024-4234 N) for measuring the characteristics of runoff and sediment as well as soil moisture dynamics. Contractive analysis of the two land types showed that there existed a significant difference in volumes of runoff and sediment between the sites of R. pseudoacacia stand and its clearcut area. The runoff volume and sediment volume in clearcut area were much bigger than those in R. pseudoacacia stand, with an increase amount of 40%-177% for runoff and 180%-400% for sediment. Hydrograph of surface runoff of typical rainfall showed that the peak value of runoff in R. pseudoacacia stand was decreased by 1.0-2.5?0-3m3s-1 compared with that in its clearcut area, and the occurring time of peak value of runoff in R. pseudoacacia stand was 10-20 min later than that in its clearcut area. Harmonic analysis of soil moisture dynamics indicated that the soil moisture in R. pseudoacacia stand was 2.3 % higher than that in clearcut area, and the soil moisture both in R. pseudoacacia stand and its clearcut area could be divided into dry season and humid season and varied periodically with annual rainfall precipitation. It was concluded that R. pseudoacacia stand plays a very important role in storing water, increasing soil moisture, and reducing surface runoff and soil erosion.展开更多

The velocity distribution and pressure distribution are deduced from theNavier-Stokes equation on the basis of a laminar flow when the membrane rotates at the speed of Asin(αt). And then the shear stress, shear force, moment of force on the membrane surface and powerconsumed by viscous force are calculated. The velocity distribution demonstrates that the phase ofmembrane velocity does not synchronize with that of shear stress. The simple harmonic motion canresult in self-cleaning, optimize energy utilization, provide the velocity field with instability, and make the feed fluid fluctuation. It also results in higher shear stress on the membrane surfacethan the constant motion when they consume the same quantitative energy.展开更多

In this paper two physical examples (pendulum and spring-mass system with linearly increasing length and mass respectively) have been used as evidence for this observation. It is shown in this paper how Bessel functions can be approximated by the damped sinusoidal function. The numerical method that is introduced works very well in adiabatic condition (slow change) or in small time (independent variable) intervals. The results are also compared with the Lagrange polynomial.展开更多

This is done by utilizing a novel mathematical connection between SR approach to quantum mechanics and the well-known Riccati equation. Then, computer programs were written using the standard MATLAB 7 code to numerically simulate the behavior of the quantum particle utilizing the solutions of the fractal equations of motion obtained from SR method. Comparison of the results with the conventional quantum mechanics probability density is shown to be in very precise agreement. This agreement was improved further for some cases by utilizing the idea of thermalization of the initial particle state and by optimizing the parameters used in the numerical simulations such as the time step and number of coordinate divisions. It is concluded from the present work that SR method can be used as a basis for description the quantum behavior without reference to conventional formulation of quantum mechanics. Hence, it can also be concluded that the fractal nature of space-time implied by SR, is at the origin of the quantum behavior observed in these problems. The novel mathematical connection between SR and the Riccati equation, which was previously used in quantum mechanics without reference to SR, needs further investigation in future work.展开更多

The assumed solution is introduced, and the domain of sub-harmonic frequencies was found. The asymptotical stability of the subharmonic resonances and the sensitivity of the amplitude responses to the variation of damping coefficient were examined. Then, the subharmonic resonances were analyzed by using the techniques from the general fractal theory. The analysis indicates that the sensitive dimensions of the system time-field responses show sensitivity to the conditions of changed initial perturbation, changed damping coefficient or the amplitude of excitation, thus the sensitive dimension can clearly describe the characteristic of the transient process of the subharmonic resonances.展开更多

The radial deformation function of the fexspline (FS), obtained through Finite Element (FE) analysis, is incorporated into the kinematics model. By analyzing the FS tooth enveloping process, the optimization of the overlapping conjugate tooth profle is achieved. By utilizing the hobbing process, the three-dimensional machinable tooth surface of FS can be acquired. Utilizing the coning deformation of the FS, simulations are conducted to analyze the multi-section assembly and meshing motion of the machinable tooth surface. The FE method is utilized to analyze and compare the loaded contact characteristics. Results demonstrate that the proposed design method can achieve an internal gear pair consisting of a circular spline with a spur gear tooth surface and the FS with a machinable tooth surface. With the rated torque, approximately 24% of the FS teeth are engaged in meshing, and more than 4/5 of the tooth surface in the axial direction carries the load. The contact patterns, maximum contact pressure, and transmission error of the machinable tooth surface are 227.2%, 40.67%, and 71.24% of those on the spur gear tooth surface, respectively. It clearly demonstrates exceptional transmission performance.展开更多
