The device employs InGaAsP active region, which is sandwiched between GaAs/AlGaAs and GaAs/AlAs distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs). The optical confinement introduced by the oxide aperture or a single defect photonic crystal design with holes etched throughout the whole structure, is compared with previous work. Photonic crystal VCSEL shows 30.86% and 57.02% lower threshold current than that of the similar oxide confined VCSEL and previous results, respectively. We used the amplifier with the erbium ion concentration of 6.3×10-3 to amplify a hyperbolic secant pulse from a regeneratively mode-locked fiber laser. The central wavelength, pulsewidth and peak power of the pulse are 1 550 nm, 12.5 ps and 3 mW, respectively. Then the amplified pulse with peak power level corresponding to a higher-order soliton is compressed when it propagates through a 3-km-long single-mode fiber. Studied are the compressed pulses under different pump powers and fiber lengths. The results show that it can get a narrower pulse, and solve the difficulty that pulses at low power can not be compressed directly in the fiber. And the construct is compact.展开更多

文摘We demonstrated a scheme of phase-locked terahertz quantum cascade lasers(THz QCLs)array, with a single-mode pulse power of 108 mW at 13 K.The device utilizes a Talbot cavity to achieve phase locking among five ridge lasers with first-order buried distributed feedback(DFB)grating, resulting in nearly five times amplification of the single-mode power.Due to the optimum length of Talbot cavity depends on wavelength, the combination of Talbot cavity with the DFB grating leads to better power amplification than the combination with multimode Fabry-Perot(F-P)cavities.The Talbot cavity facet reflects light back to the ridge array direction and achieves self-imaging in the array, enabling phase-locked operation of ridges. We set the spacing between adjacent elements to be 220μm,much larger than the free-space wavelength, ensuring the operation of the fundamental supermode throughout the laser's dynamic range and obtaining a high-brightness far-field distribution. This scheme provides a new approach for enhancing the single-mode power of THz QCLs.

文摘In this paper, the effect of injected energy on low energy single longitudinal mode (SLM) pre-lase Q-switched is analyzed and the optimization procedure is shown in detail. Here, taking the Pr:YLF laser as an example of low energy laser, and the parameters of Pr:YLF laser by using pre-lase have been shown. Compared with normal Q-switched laser, the single pulse energy reaches 60.16% and the pulse width exceeds 39.73% when the same maximum energy is injected and SLM is achieved in pre-lase. The analysis results show that pre-lase is suitable for low energy laser to obtain SLM and there be an optimal performance to achieve the optimal energy output.
文摘To solve the chattering problem caused by discontinuous switching function in traditional sliding mode observer,a piecewise square root switching function with continuously varying characteristics is designed, and its stability is analyzed by using Lyapunov stability criterion.Secondly, according to the relationship among bus current, switching state and phase current,a single bus resistance sampling current reconstruction scheme without current sensors is adopted, which effectively reduces the cost of motor system. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme are verified by simulation.

文摘Optimization of the high power single-lateral-mode double-trench ridge waveguide semiconductor laser based on InGaAsP/InP quantum-well heterostructures with a separate confinement layer is reported. Two different waveguide structures of Fabry-Perot lasers emitting at a wavelength of 1.55 μm are fabricated. The influence of an effective lateral refractive index step on the maximum output power is investigated. A cw single mode output power of 165mW is obtained for a 1-mm-long uncoated laser.
文摘The mechanical and damage properties of single fibres used in fibrous composite have gained tremendous importance in recent years. These properties are used in determination of effective properties of composites by micromechanics. These are also used in the micromechanical damage modeling. Further, these properties are used as an indicator of the excellence of product by manufacturers. In the present study the axial tensile modulus, ultimate strength and failure strain of single fibres are determined for carbon and glass fibres. ASTM D3379-75 standard is followed and a number of fibers are tested for statistical analysis. The axial tensile moduli measured are 246.7 GPa and 93.3 GPa, respectively and strength are 3031.6 MPa and 2035.9 MPa, respectively for carbon and glass fibres. Further, the respective axial tensile failure strains are 0.0137 and 0.0224. The error in the measurement of axial modulus is below 8% while for axial tensile strength is below 1%.
文摘In the present work, we investigate threshold characteristics of a single mode 1.55 μm InGaAsP vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) with two different optical confinement structures. This paper provides key results of the threshold characteristics, including the threshold current and the threshold power. Results suggest that, the 1.55 μm InGaAsP photonic crystal VCSEL seems to be the most optimal one for light sources in high performance optical communication systems.

文摘Proposed is a novel optical pulse compression technique based on high-doped erbium fiber amplifier and standard single-mode fiber(SMF). And the construct is compact.

文摘In this paper, stable single-mode operation at high temperatures is produced by the surface-relief-integrated vertical cavity surface emitting laser(VCSEL). The gain-cavity mode detuning technique is employed to realize high operating temperatures for the VCSEL. The surface relief is etched in the centre of the top side as a mode discriminator for the fundamental mode output, and the threshold current minimum is 1.94 mA at high temperatures by the gain-cavity mode detuning technique. Maximum single-fundamental-mode output power of 0.45 mW at 80℃ is obtained, and the side mode suppression ratios(SMSRs) are more than 30 dB with increasing temperature and current, respectively.

文摘A novel single-mode single-polarization (SMSP) photonic crystal fibre has been proposed and analysed based on the polarization-dependent coupling and absorption effect via a full-vector finite element method with perfectly matched layers. The numerical results predict that very efficient SMSP operation can be achieved with both high bandwidth and high extinction ratio at low loss penalty. Effects of the fibre structural parameters on the SMSP bandwidth and extinction ratio have been explored, which will provide useful guide for the design and fabrication of the fibre. The results obtained will be instructive for the realization of new SMSP fibres with high performance.

文摘A quarter-wave plate and the thin film polarizer (TFP) are used for the LD end-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:YVO4 laser with semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) to obtain a single beam output with a total power of 4.8 W. An optical-optical efficiency is achieved to be 24% for a stable CW mode-locking operation at 1064 nm, with a pulse repetition rate of 70 MHz and pulse width of 16 ps. The multipulse in the pulse sequence is eliminated for reaching a peak power as high as 4 kW.
