A Single-Chip UHF RFID Reader Transceiver IC

A single-chip UHF RFID reader transceiver IC has been implemented in 0.18 μm SiGe BiCMOS technology. The chip includes all transceiver blocks as RX/TX RF front-end, RX/TX analog baseband, frequency synthesizer and I2C with fully-compliant China 800/900 MHz RFID draft, ISO/IEC 18000-6C protocol and ETSI 302 208-1 local regulation. The normal mode receiver in the presence of -3 dBm self-jammer achieves -75 dBm 1% PER sensitivity. The linear class-A PA integrated in transmitter has 25 dBm OP1 dB output power for CW. The fully-integrated fractional-N fre-quency synthesizer is designed based on MASH 1-1-1 sigma-delta modulator and 1.8 GHz fundamental frequency LC-VCO for lower in-band and out-of-band phase noise. The measured phase noise is up to -106 dBc/Hz@200 kHz and -131 dBc/Hz@1 MHz offset from center frequency and the integrated RMS jitter from 10 kHz to 10 MHz is less than 1.6 pS. The chip dissipates 330 mA from 3.3 V power supply when transmitting 22.4 dBm CW signal and the PAE of linear PA is up to 26%. The chip die area is 16.8 mm2. 展开更多

This paper presents a single-chip 3D electric field microsensor, in which a sensing element is set at the center to detect the Z-axis component of an electrostatic field. Two pairs of sensing elements with the same structure are arranged in a cross-like configuration to measure the X- and Y-axis electrostatic field components. An in-plane rotary mechanism is used in the microsensor to detect the X-, Y-, and Z-axis electrostatic field components simultaneously. The proposed microsensor is compact and presents high integration. The microsensor is fabricated through a MetalMUMPS process. Experimental results show that in the range of 0-50 kV/m, the linearity errors of the microsensor are within 5.5%, and the total measure- ment errors of the three electrostatic field components are less than 14.04%. 展开更多

Through the investigation on traditional arc stud welding process, a new welding gun and its control system were developed in this paper. The stepping arc stud welding gun was mainly made by a stepping motor as actuating unit and a screw-driven device as moving unit. A control system with a MCS-51 single-chip microcomputer as main control component was used to realize the new stud welding procedure. This new welding process with stepping stud welding gun is named as stepping arc stud welding. In the new welding process, the stud action can be looked as constituted by some micro steps. The setting and adjusting of the stepping arc welding gun behavior parameters are accomplished independently. It is indicated from the results of process tests and bending test that the stepping arc stud welding process is practicable. 展开更多

This paper describes the innovation schemes of the interface of a CNC machine which cannot communicate with a computer by a Direct Numerical Control(DNC)interface and the functions of a DNC interface system.One architecture of hardware and software of a practi- cal single-chip computer based on DNC interface system developed by the authors is given. Without any change of the original hardware and software,this DNC interface system has been used to innovate the CNC machine's interface to implement the direct communication between a computer and a CNC machine and to achieve no tape transmission of a part program and ma- chine parameters.It has been demonstrated that this DNC interface system has certain practical values in improving the reliability,efficiency and production management of CNC/NC machine. 展开更多

This paper uses CT to gain the energy directly from the high-voltage transmission line, to address the problem of power supply for monitoring system in high voltage side of transmission line. The draw-out power coil can induce voltage from the transmission line, using single-chip microcomputer to analog and output PMW wave to control the charging module, provides a stable 3.4 V DC voltage to the load, and solve the problem of easy saturating of core. The power supply based on this kind of draw-out power coil has undergone the overall testing, and it is verified-showing that it can properly work in a non-saturated status within the current range of 50 - 1000 A, and provide a stable output. The equipment also design protection circuit to improve the reliability to avid the impacts of the impulse current or short-circuit current. It effectively solves the problem of power supply for On-line Monitoring System of Transmission. 展开更多

The control system is a critical part for CCPD cycler. The system is approvedto be reliable and flexible in practical experiments. Methods: Using signal detecting and data processing techniques, this monitor with a graphic liquid crystal display (LCD) and a single-chip microprocessor 8Xc196Kc can dynamically measure electrocardiogram(ECG), breath wave, blood pressure (BP), breath frequency (BF), heart rate (HR) and body temperature (BT) in real-time. Results: This monitor can dynamically display the ECG, breath wave and other parameters in real time. It can also provide a 24h trend graph for each measured parameter and exchange data, through the serial communication interface (RS232), with the PC or hand-held PC (HPC). Conclusions: This portable monitoring system has a man-machine interface friendly. It is capable of performing continuous monitoring and also used as terminal of a central monitoring system or a tele-monitoring system. 展开更多

Pinned OS/Services: A Case Study of XML Parsing on Intel SCC

Nowadays, we are heading towards integrating hundreds to thousands of cores on a single chip. However, traditional system software and middleware are not well suited to manage and provide services at such large scale.... Nowadays, we are heading towards integrating hundreds to thousands of cores on a single chip. However, traditional system software and middleware are not well suited to manage and provide services at such large scale. To improve the scalability and adaptability of operating system and middleware services on future many-core platform, we propose the pinned OS/services. By porting each OS and runtime system (middleware) service to a separate core (special hardware acceleration), we expect to achieve maximal performance gain and energy efficiency in many-core environments. As a case study, we target on XML (Extensible Markup Language), the commonly used data transfer/store standard in the world. We have successfully implemented and evaluated the design of porting XML parsing service onto Intel 48-core Single-Chip Cloud Computer (SCC) platform. The results show that it can provide considerable energy saving. However, we also identified heavy performance penalties introduced from memory side, making the parsing service bloated. Hence, as a further step, we propose the memory-side hardware accelerator for XML parsing. With specified hardware design, we can further enhance the performance gain and energy efficiency, where the performance can be improved by 20% with 12.27% energy reduction. 展开更多
